Except we’re talking about a kid who, as far as has been released to the media, has no training in hand to hand combat, versus a kid that has been trained in jiu jitsu since he was little. I’m sorry, but no remorse for anyone who uses martial arts for your own sadistic ends and expects people NOT to arm themselves if you’re constantly hassling them with said knowledge. This isn’t a FG, normal people can’t fight against people with over a decade of martial arts experience and expect to stack up. This also isn’t a movie where the kid can have a montage of karate or boxing training then show up and blow him out of the water.

I bet the kid didnt really even want to stab the other kid. I bet anything that he flashed the knife in hopes of scaring him/them away and then the “im gonna take that from you and stab you with it” line was droped and then, BAMx12. Its sad that it happened but thems the ropes.

Anyone who feels like the defending kid did the wrong thing: Police knew about the situation. Parents knew about the situation. You know sure as fucking hell teachers and class-mates knew about the situation.

You wanna get angry at something, get angry at the authority figures who knew. Get angry at a school system that continuously gives bullying a blind eye. Get angry at all the people who look at this widespread social issue as nothing important until someone gets killed - and then promptly forgets about it less than a month later.

Or maybe he thought he needed to get the most damage in before the bully disarmed him, and a club or a pipe would only do so much before he did?
I’m not claiming to have a pipeline into the psyche into the kid’s mind at all. Just saying, there may actually be a rhyme to his reasoning.
It could also be bunk and there is no rhyme to it, and he reached his breaking point. At which point I still feel sorry for him.

Why ? why should I care for my attackers ?
If I did nothing wrong, and somebody attacked me, why should I care if that attacker gets injured or even dead ? he shouldn’t have attacked me in the first place.
Besides that:
- the kid was 14 years old, scared, and bullied. Maybe he wasn’t exactly calculated all the possible outcomes.
- a knife is much easier to hide than a bat (and I’m sure they don’t let kids in school with bats)

That said I’m going to agree with the it’s a tragedy on all sides conclusion. With very little information, it’s hard to know whether him carrying a knife in the first place was justified or not, so I will go by the professionals judgement there.
Well, a bat could be just as lethal as a knife in fewer swings.
It’s a lot easier to catch a bat than it is to counter a knife, or a small handheld tazer. Hm. Maybe pepper spray, and kicks to the nuts are perfect. It comes with the added bonus of taking away the ability to procreate.
