Building my team

i usually use mag/cab/psy, and have mag start out. but lately i’ve been noticing that psy is awesome for AA, and so is cable, but since they’re both aa, i have nothing that goes across the screen! i’ve tried the whole mag/cab/sent, but then i just have no way of setting up my combos with magneto.

i can’t ditch magneto, i’ve put too much time and effort learning the ROM, but i still have trouble getting it started without psy. how else am i supposed to set up my opponents? i can’t really combo off cable’s aa, and sentinel’s proj or ground type isn’t that great for getting out of corners… what do you guys think?

p.s. i can’t use storm worth my life and my sent is terrible. it’s not uncommon for me to go an entire match without flying with sent, but his RP xx HSF is just sooo good.

Even with Rowtron, Mag gets many more combos off c.lk+RP c.mk as opposed to off a random RP. Figure out how to get close to your opponent first.

Might I suggest giving MSP (Magneto-a/Storm-a/Psylocke-a) a try, even if you can’t use Storm that well, it’s probably the best team for Psylocke. You have two projectiles, one for Magneto and one for Storm, you also have Psylocke’s anit air assist which is what you want. You have the biggest selection of ROM set-ups, plenty of reset potential, you also have a complete DHC which you don’t have for you current team. The only down side to MSP is it’s an all pixie team meaning low stamina, but if you mix up right it’s almost irrelivent.

DHC’s are almost vital to survival in this game, if you can’t 100% (or near to it) off a DHC, the team is potentially balls. Switching characters is the riskiest thing to do in the game, even if it’s for survival it can do more damage than good as it leaves you open so much. This is where DHC’s are usefull and why they’re almost essential to a solid team as it offers a safe way to switch characters.

As for DHC combos you can launch with mag, magic x2 (or 1, whatever you’re comfortable with) to HG xx MT, then DHC to Storm Hail which knocks down, leaving you in a really good position. From here you can pretty much choose what you want to do, example run, rush etc. Building meter with Storm is always a good idea. You then have a safe way to get back to Mags (as long as you have 3 meters) by doing launch, magic, Lightning Attack, Lightning Storm, DHC to Psylocke qcb + kk, DHC to Mag MT. If you time it right you can even juggle afterwards with c.lk, c.hk which puts you back in a ROM/reset position.

Overall it’s a really solid team, if not the best team in the game. It’s only draw back is low stamina as pixies die like a bitch. By the sounds of things you’re going to have to learn a new character, so why not Storm eh? If you’re wanting to keep Mag/Psy it’s probably the best thing for you imo…

Sent can’t work w/ Psy, try to learn Storm, make it MSP.

Storm takes time to learn but w/ MSP that time is cut in half.
Just spam rh, sj, magic series, lightning attack xx lightning storm.
You’ll notice that building meter to do this won’t be that hard.

Nah, doom would be for mags rushing(rocks are pretty good) to get in and once your in the opponents face u can start using Psylocke.

Thats what I meant, Mag will rush them down looking for an unblocked area and expose it.
But comboing off of rocks is somewhat difficult, I’ve seen somenice Mag shit off of Doom’s rocks, but itz fast and complex.

Not the most practical choice, but with Cable Y (the grenade) you get a budget horizontal attack.

With Mag you can call Cable and throw them into the grenade, right into Infinite.

Grenade-type assist kills Alpha Counter to AHVB, but Cable/Psy can get you random AHVBs.

Psy/Cable has Butterfly Super DHC to HVB, not great, but better than nothing.

Not tournament-caliber stuff, but Psylocke is just too fun in casual play.

But who’s to say he’s playing some1 that will let him get in alot of grabs.

MSentP, now this is the oddest team, but its useful for Mag players.
For Sentinel, you just stay low so that Psy can fit in AAA, and you can fly/unfly combo off of Psy’s AAA.

theres 2 things you can with mag

either make him his rushdown better, or balance the team out.

I’ve switched over to team Row now. I don’t cover psy too well, and she is a pixie so she dies right away. At least with Row, there’s massive damage with 5 hit fierce and cable + RP + 3 avhbs. Just gotta get the rushdown right…
