Hello everyone, first time poster here. I have been on the site reading for most of the day, trying to absorb as much information as possible from the stickies and from the links to various sites that you all have posted on information on building a custom stick.
I think I have a pretty good idea of what I’d like to do. I’m a little strapped for cash now, seeing as how I’m about to start up another semester in college and am in the middle of a move, but once I’m settled in I want to build a custom stick. I don’t know much about woodworking or electronics, but my stepdad is pretty good with that stuff so I will probably get him to help me out.
Anyway, I’ll try to keep this short. One thing I have been looking for and haven’t been able to find (or maybe I skipped over it?) is an instruction on how to wire everything to the PCB for a PS3 controller. I’ve seen a lot of pictures for the 360 and for PS1, but nothing for PS3. I was wondering if anyone could link a diagram of how to do this? Secondly, is it possible that if I build a custom stick to make it wireless? I’m sorry if these seem like rudimentary questions, and I apologize ahead of time if there is something explaining this on the site already that I have missed in my searching.
Well, I’m really looking forward to this. I have looked at a lot of your creations and so many of you are very talented; it is quite intimidating. I hope to be able to share with you all a creation of my own in the near future. Thanks for any help.
It is possible to do a wireless PS3 stick. What you will need is a Sixaxis controller and a Axisdapter which you can get from Toodles or from lizard lick.
There is nothing I could make myself that would allow me to get the same result? Also, do I need to buy something like this as well if I just leave it wired?
Okay, I see now. Does the Xbox 360 have the same problems when trying to install it in a stick as wireless? I guess I’m not really clear on why it’s so difficult to hack a PS3 controller and have it wireless, but like I said, I know nothing about it all, it’s all new to me. You guys are the experts. But I appreciate the info thus far.
::edit:: by the way, my username had nothing to do with looking at that Cthulhu board…this is just something I’ve used for a while now, so nobody thinks I’m trying to copy someone else
Let´s just say the PS3 PCB´s are harder to solder on than the 360 PCB´s. Axisadapter makes it much easier (trust me, I have soldered a Dual Shock 3, wasn´t fun).
