Yeah, well… I think your memory is a little faulty. Fact is, my Sentinel did what I needed it to do in order to win all three games. On the other hand, it can be said in complete fairness that his Sentinel played a very big part of why he lost all three games. Other than the second game, his Storm did at least an acceptable job in the early going, and his Sentinel flat out blew it – which is exactly the way I described his Storm/Sent teams in how he usually performs with them. Storm does okay at least a fair amount of the time, and then his Sentinel loses everything. Fock, when I play against his Storm/Sent, that’s where I’m freaking planning to win the games… with whoever I’ve got in the middle against his Sentinel. If I can get it done against his Storm, neat, but when it’s all said and done, that’s where I win those fights the most against him. All I need from whoever I’ve got in front is to not lose it all against Storm and leave my middle guy with a fighting shot at winning the game. My Sentinel accomplished that just fine.
Now, if it looks like his Sentinel seemed even slightly to have an upper hand on mine, here’s a little hint for scrubs who don’t know how to watch tournament matches. What you think you see isn’t always for the reasons you think you see it. The only game where I can think of that you could make the argument that his Sentinel had any kind of upper hand on mine was the first one. Now I’ll tell you where his Sentinel actually failed spectacularly to accomplish anything useful in even that game.
At the point where my Sentinel briefly saw head-to-head action with his, mine had already fought his Storm. I was at a bit less than 40% life, low enough that one good hit could’ve crippled my chances to win. His was completely healthy. He was a little behind at this point, so what he needed to accomplish with his Sentinel on point was, effectively, win the game. He could’ve done that by keeping my Sentinel in the game long enough that he could kill him. Or he could’ve done that by baiting or otherwise forcing a situation where I cold-tagged my BH in and then mangle him. Or, if all else fails, he could’ve put himself in pretty good position by simply forcing me to burn a couple of meters and throw my team out of order in a DHC swap. And if he couldn’t even accomplish that, he needed to at least manage not to lose the fight between his Sentinel and my BH. His Sentinel failed to accomplish any of these things. Hence, he lost the game.
And that’s generally the story of how those matches go. His Storm is plenty good enough. She gave his Sentinel good position to win at least two of the three games, one of them where my Sentinel basically had to bail in desperation and I had to come from behind with BH. His Sentinel failed, in all three games, to accomplish anything that was needed from him to win any of them.
Well, I can only speculate on what would’ve happened if Phongsack’s Sentinel had run into it. He, uh, kind of was out of the tournament at my hands by then.
As for what happened against Josh’s Ken? Yeah, that was fugly. I got thrown for a loop. Simple as that. It happens. Do I think it would work again at a later tournament? No, not now that I’ve had time to think about what to do differently. But at the time, I needed a quicker adapation. Exit BH, enter my Cable, exit one Josh Chang from the tourney, a three-game win streak later.
That’s because I don’t need them to. I’m the one who’s backing it up on my own, in the tournament matches.

All right… the reasons you didn’t quote me earlier are becoming frighteningly clear now… 
Okay, since you won’t let it die, I’ll go into detail on this one, too.
My main team is DHC-based. Which means in endgame situations, my team order is usually going to be Sent/Commando/BH. Sentinel is not usually going to be altogether healthy from the previous fights, whereas Ken is one of the hardest assists in the game to punish, so he’s usually going to come in at 100% or close to it. And indeed, in both games, all of these things were true.
Sentinel vs. Ken is not a free fight. Sentinel at 30% life vs. Ken at 100% may actually be advantage-Ken for that head-to-head duel. From there, I’m looking at Commando/BH order… and with BH not in good enough shape to survive a cold tag and no real way to force a safe one, to say nothing of the fact that Commando vs. Ken is a really bad matchup, and BH alone vs. Ken is probably worse, that’s a very ugly snowball effect waiting to happen if and when Sentinel dies. Which is exactly what happened.
What did I need to do differently with that team at the time? Stall, play it safe, safe some meter to triple DHC back to BH for the endgame. I didn’t add that up at the time, no, and I decided to cut my losses rather than try to figure out with my back against the wall what I was doing wrong with that team. I basically gameplanned the final three games of the match with two things in mind: (1) Make sure I can beat Ken, but (2) don’t gameplan for Ken so much that I’m not going to be able to win three straight games with whatever team I chose.
The common answer to both was, in my estimation, Team Scrub. Sentinel vs. Ken may not be free, but Cable is or it’s damned close. And although people might have been clamoring for him to just play Team Shoto after game 3 was over, Josh was not stupid. He knew exactly why my Cable was in there even if everyone else watching and screaming for more Ken didn’t – which is why Ken took a holiday. That kind of perceptiveness is also why he got 4th in the tournament even though he doesn’t play the game a tenth as much as some other people I could mention who finished behind him, and I have to respect that. However, the two Ken miracles were all he was good for in the end… when all was said and done, the comeback that mattered was me coming back from 2-0 down in a best of five to win the larger match.

It’s whether or not Phongsack’s Sentinel is, in fact, better than mine or has any claim whatsoever to being the best in town. I say it isn’t and doesn’t. You don’t believe me? Look at the fucking scoreboard. We both played teams in all three games that had our Sentinels in pivotal roles. I won all three games. When it counted, my Sentinel delivered what I needed from him and his didn’t. That’s what I’ve got to say about it.
You have… uh, well, I’m still waiting for what exactly you have to go from. Unless you count the perspective of (no offense) a very bad player who literally doesn’t even understand the game well enough to watch a tournament match unfolding before your very nose and know what’s happening and why.
