Hi Folks. Im new as you can see.
I suck at canceling basic moves into supers. E.g. Kens j. roundhous --> d. forward --> Lv. 3 super dragon uppercuts. I have had alpha 3 max for my psp for about two months and I still cant buffer properly. Is this an intermediate skill? Does it usually take people a long time to master canceling?
Maybe I just need to practice more? Any help that you can give would be great.
Yes. I know Im pathetic. No need to point that out to me.
It is something that can take a bit of practice if you’re not used to it. What you want to do in most cases is finish the command of the move you are cancelling into right as the move you’re cancelling from hits. This means that many times, you’ll want to start the joystick movement during the first move, then hit the button right as the first move connects. For example, if you want to do close Fierce into Fierce Shoryuken, you might want to press Fierce, then immeadiately input the Forward, Down, Down-Forward motion, and hit Fierce again right as the Fierce punch connects.
And of course, only certain moves for each character are cancellable, so unless you’ve gotten in some practice with cancelling, it can be hard to remember which moves are cancellable and which ones aren’t.
Basically the easiest way i find would be to do your first qcf and to do your crouching forward at about the down forward part, then input another qcf and then your punch for the super
It might be a good idea to hold mk aswell to prevent negative edge, since his other dragon punch super might come out instead
I agree with tolkien, best thing is to learn the qcf,d+FK(MK if you prefer that notation),d/f,f+FP. It is a bit harder in A3 then newer games, because the animation frames of Shoto low forwards is longer in for example CvS2. But you get used to it. The better way to start the lvl 3 Shoryureppa is not the forward one. Try to also get down SK, SK, lvl 3 Super. If the first short is blocked you just make a blockstring tickthrow or whatever out of it else you can safly go for the second SK into Super (also with the above described buffering method). However the hardest thing for connecting supers is hit confirming, but better just practise the FK, lvl 3 and SK, SK, lvl 3 for now.
good luck in your practise
Hey thanks alot guys. The advice really helped. I feel like I’ve got alot more dues to pay in training mode before I have it completely dialed though…anyway, nothing worth learning is easy.
Thanks again guys.
