Bubble Tea House: Street Fighter IV Tournament - March 20th, 2010 at Providence, RI

Tournament:
Street Fighter IV Singles

Tournament starts at 2:00 PM.

This is the Bubble Tea House’s second tournament. The first one was a success, gathering around 30 local participants and giving away a mountain bike as the prize. This time we’re aiming for more participants, more setups and more prizes (and cash).

Venue:
Bubble Tea House
849 Westminster St.
Providence, RI. 02903

There are restaurants / fast food restaurants around the area like Subway, Burger King, McDonald’s, Dunkin Donuts, etc. If anyone has any questions about the whereabouts of these restaurants, you can ask me or any other staff / tournament organizer.

Also keep in mind that the Bubble Tea House also sells Vietnamese sandwiches as well as phenomenal bubble tea! I highly recommend trying out some of the bubble tea. You will not be disappointed!

All players receive one free drink!

Fees:
Venue - $5
Tournament Entry - $15
Spectators - Free

But let us know if you’re going to come and spectate so that we have an idea of how many people are showing up.

Setups:
2 Xbox 360
2 PlayStation 3
1 High Definition Television
3 CRT Televisions

We will give players a choice of which console they want to play on. I think this is a great idea because I know some people own PlayStation 3 arcade sticks and some people own arcade sticks just for the Xbox 360. I personally own two arcade sticks for both consoles so I don’t mind letting people use mine if they’re not already in use. If you want to use regular game pads then that’s fine too. I’m sure we’ll have those readily available but you can bring your own controllers just in case.

Rules:
The usual…
Double elimination.
Best two out of three matches.
Winners finals and losers finals are best three out of five matches.
Pressing Start and pausing the game will result in immediate disqualification.
Turbo functions are prohibited.

Prizes:
First place winner gets 70% of the pot and three free drinks courtesy of the Bubble Tea House as well as a t-shirt.
Second place winner gets 20% of the pot and also a bubble tea t-shirt.
Third place winner gets 10% of the pot.

Pre-Registration:
Just so the venue doesn’t get overcrowded, we’re going to do pre-registrations. We’re looking for up to 40 participants max. So if you’re up to the challenge and you think you’re going to show up, please post and I will add your name to the list. And if you’re local, you can stop by and pre-register right at the Bubble Tea House. I will be notified and your name will then be added onto this list.

You can attend as guests, but if you’re participating in the tournament, please state so, put down your name and I will add you to the list. The list is for the SF IV participants only. Also, if you decide to drop out anytime before the tourney, it would also be good if you’d let us know so that we can remove you from the list and possibly fit other people that may want to enter.

Great! The venue fee has been reduced to $5 and entry fee reduced to $15. Also we’ve changed the prizes to the first place winner receiving 70% of the pot, second place winner receiving 20% of the pot plus a t-shirt, and now we have a prize for the third place winner whom gets 10% of the pot.

Keep them pre-registrations coming!

I’m in then!

what happened to the extra prize money?

Now all players will receive free drinks! Get hype!

What do you mean?

Oh didn’t know there was a thread for the tourny… my friend was telling me about it, and most of the info he gave me was all wrong, haha.

But yeah, sign me up too, I’ll be there for sure. Bobby “Xstars” Yang.

Alright, I’ve just added additional info:

You can attend as guests, but if you’re participating in the tournament, please state so, put down your name and I will add you to the list. The list is for the SF IV participants only. Also, if you decide to drop out anytime before the tourney, it would also be good if you’d let us know so that we can remove you from the list and possibly fit other people that may want to enter.

sign me up victor

prediction for the tourney : i’ll play mr.dash in winners

Alright, got ya!

You’re talking about Losers Finals, right?

haha i meant to say winners bracket, its been like 5 tourneys now that ive played mr.dash in the 1st or 2nd round

So far, I’m in!

I’ll be there.

Ben Feingersh - HBRD

Good shit CP. let’s test that theory at souper bowl

As of now, count me in.

Will there also be enough room for some (jojo’s) bizarre adventures or should I not get my hopes up?

blueNINE, yeah! I was wondering when you’d ever show up, lol.

Effull Bao, there won’t be any extra TVs but if I can manage to stay in the store a little longer after the Street Fighter IV tournament is over then maybe I can get a JoJo setup, but don’t get your hopes up. I’ve only got one PlayStation 2 stick with a Dreamcast converter anyway. If you’ve got another Dreamcast stick or a PSX / PS2 stick with a converter then I’ll consider bringing my Dreamcast console and see what happens, unless you don’t mind playing on controller which I can provide. I haven’t played JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure in a long time though and I realized I freakin’ suck at it after playing against people in 2DF FreePlay (now called Supercade). So I just play the King of Fighters '98, the King of Fighters 2002, Super Street Fighter II Turbo, Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, Street Fighter Alpha 2 and Street Fighter Alpha 3, lol.

I am in

Just added additional information; spectators is free. But let us know if you’re going to come and spectate so that we have an idea of how many people are showing up.
