i just bought the game, and its pretty hard to get to grips with all the jargon. a lot of stuff ends with B!, and i dunno what ss means (eg df+3 or SS (2),3) and whats WS? wall splat? whats WS3 mean argh
Yeah, all this can be VERY overwhelming at first, I was the same way since I came from SF and this was my first ever Tekken game. I will answer your questions but I recommend looking at [media=youtube]L3DT6-oOZro"[/media] if your feeling a bit lost.

WS 3. The notation WS means “While standing”. Pretty self-explanatory, you press 3 as you are standing up from either being knocked down or crouching. There is also iWS (instant while standing) but that’s a bit different.

To break down the notation, it would be back plus 2 (hold back and press 2 at the same time), 1 (yes, just press one), SS (SideStep, in order to side step, press up on the stick, just up, don’t hold it or you’ll jump upwards, just press up and go back to neutral)

Back plus 1. This is his Bound (B!) move. When you hit with this move, it’ll bounce your opponent on the floor, allowing for further combo’ing.

Also, Wall splat is notated as W!, simple as that.

so i’m trying to do the first big bryan combo in this vid

and so i knock up, do the double spin backfist, jab, overhead elbow, jump kick > db+2 and it knocks him WAAAY too far to do the standing 2 afterwards, what am i doing wrong?
Pretty sure that’s a reset/mixup. If they don’t tech you get the db+2 into followups, and if they do you get a taunt into whatever. Fun little guessing game.

Quick question, how do you guys back dash cancel with Fury and other sway characters? When doing repeated back dash, I tend to get out sways. Any specific motion to use or just timing and practice?
just skip the downback direction. it’s a bit slower but not much harder for me.
make the b~db~b transition fast you have to be more precise with chars with sway properties (Paul, Bryan, Feng etc)
You have to think of it in patterns. Change the b,b, d/b,b~b,d,d/b,b/ to b,b,d/b,b~b,d/b,b b,d/b,b
this is the only way.

A couple of questions, what are Bryan’s easier combo’s ? I’m trying to find just a few to use consistently till I get comfortable with him. What are some of his staple combos? I haven’t even gotten into taunt cancelling yet… just want to be able to pull off some normal juggles with him.
This is one of his easier juggles is (launcher) db+2, db+2, f+1, b+1 B! uf+3, d+3,2. Most people go for a mix up after the uf+3 but if you haven’t gotten taunt canceling down yet just finish the combo.
BTW you can also use this juggle after almost any of his CH stuns (f+3, WS 3 [use this a lot], b+1, 3+4 etc).
