Don’t be sad bro, its only Fchamp.
I’m not a Thor player anymore but every once in a while I like to contribute outside of the Nova forums…anyway, has anyone here mentioned/tried Thor Strange Dorm/Doom?..I think that would be a pretty sick team.
Thor and Strange are good together. Thor and Doom are good together. Thor and Dorm are good together. Any combination of those characters are pretty good.
Thor/Rocket Raccoon/Vergil or Thor/Rocket Raccoon/Dante? who would be the best third for a Thor/RR team?
ok guys, i’ve been trying out thor and i really want to use him but the problem is i can’t find a team for him b/c of the chars i use: Spidey, Hawkeye, Iron Man, Cap, Iron Fist, Strange, Hulk, and Nova. Can i get a Thor team of any of these characters?
I made a Hulk/Thor/Cap team, so that’s one possibility.
It basically comes down to which assist best benefits Rocky from that point. I can see Jam Session having its uses, and I can see Rapid Slash working too. You already know that Vergil allows Thor to have his combos extended and Dante can give him a lock down. I guess check Rocky’s team forum to see who he’d like best. I’d probably go with Dante personally.
Yes, yes you can.
Hawkeye, Iron Man, and Strange are good characters to back Thor because of their horizontal assists. If you check the first page, you’ll see that Thor with an assist like Bolts, Unibeam, and Triple arrow, allow Thor to approach safely with the cover from behind.
If you want Thor to be on the same team as Spidey or Nova, then you’ll find it best to run him second while having Spidey or Nova on point. Thor’s Spark assist helps with their approaches and can be used for extending their combos.
I personally don’t like having Hulk and Thor on the same team because they’re both heavy based characters, but even still, the two do have synergy together. Hulk backed with Mighty Spark or Thor backed with Gamma Wave can work well together.
Cap backed with Thor also has some synergy as well. He can make good use of Thor’s Spark or Smash assist in his combos.
Aside from all that, you’ll need to invest in learning someone like Doom, Ammy, or Sentinel for a potential third character for most of those combinations, but if you don’t want to learn those characters, you should be able to get somewhere with teams like Spidey/Thor/Hawkeye, Spidey/Thor/Iron Man, Cap/Thor/Iron Man, Hulk/Thor/Strange, and Thor/Hulk/Strange.
I have been in the lab with Thor/Raccoon, first thing is, Thor/Raccoon/Dante sucks. Thor/Raccoon/Vergil is the Thor/Raccoon team. What i have got so far
- TOD combos of course.
- SSS enders with both log trap and rapid slash
- DHC to Mad Hopper (the trap thing) after of mighty tornado, then hard tag to Vergil and start his BS; can hard tag to thor and do an SSS if the tornado is done at sj height
- DHCs from Rocket Raccoon rock&roll (the million dollars ripoff) to Thor Mighty Punish for double SSS after of a Raccoon bnb (so RR low damage output is not even a problem with this team, the damage output with a DHC is crazy as long as there is bar to expend)
- Vergil…
- incoming mixups
- unblockable with the boulder trap or guard break if the player try to advance guard to dash up/air jump and escape :d
- 50/50 mixups with raccoon tunnel rat H + rapid slash xD
- Vergil…
- neutral game (the hard part)
- i dont know how to play raccoon yet, other than basic zoning patterns and fullscreen confirms with rapid slash >_>, or log trap confirms
- Vergil swords…
so this is my new awesome Thor project. Team is pretty good, might add it to the top Thor teams if i find more cheap stuff. Its very technical though, as technical as Thor/Strange/Ammy. Thor/Raccoon/Strange is a nice variation to the team that use more or less similar concepts in the neutral for Thor, but i dont like Strange as anchor (not cheap enough doing comebacks) so Vergil should be the better choice overall
been testing out thor for the last few days for fun, really like thor/iron man/sentinel
hey serpentasaurs, why do you not like RR/Dante? Were you using jam session? Its easily one of his best assists.
cause Thor/Log trap/Rapid slash, the overall synergy and damage output of Thor/Raccoon/Vergil and anchor Vergil + his comeback factor are way more cheap
god this team is cheap :3

SOOOoo cheap. Thor/Raccoon/Vergil is a serious contender for best Thor team. Maybe i will make a full synergy vid about this team
That’s a big statement. Would love to see a vid about that.
So, the Hulk/Thor/Dormammu team is working out fairly well. And I know it’s mostly me being still fairly new to higher level play, but I run into a lot of problems against Taskmaster, Vergil, Wesker and Spencer. Any tips for fighting those characters?
Also, thoughts on a Thor/Dormammu<>Strange team? Gonna experiment with it when I get off work, but wanted to get some feedback from experienced Thor players; I’ve read here that Dorm and Strange are good partners for Thor, but haven’t seen anyone using both. I’m mostly intrigued by Strange’s beam assist. Great at getting Thor in and with it being two shots, I feel like I should be able to get some really dumb, braindead teleport mixups with Dorm. However, one of the bad things I can immediately see is that Strange doesn’t seem like he benefits from Dark Hole or Purification, so playing him second is a little suspect. But, I’m not sold at all on anchor Strange and XF3 Dormammu is so good.
With you being new, those characters will give you trouble. Once you start playing and becoming accustomed to their games, you’ll do better. But here are some tips that you can work on in the mean time.
A good Taskmaster will give Thor and Hulk problems any day, so it’s really about staying solid, learning your spacing and his ranges, and applying pressure on him. I personally believe that the best way to do that against him is with Mighty Strikes backed up by a beam assist. Make sure you know how to convert from a random Strike that hits. Check this post in the combo thread for help on that. Also, be ready to zone with Mighty Sparks as well. Be careful with it, though, because if Taskmaster decides he wants to zone, too, then he can do it. His arrows will travel under your sparks. In short, the key to fighting Taskmaster is about playing footsies with him. Use your air mobility to try and get around his zoning game, but don’t spend too much time just trying to dodge his zoning. Your goal should be to get in, and apply pressure. And if he’s pressuring you, you need to block smartly, look for air grabs any time you can. Thor can’t combo off his air grab without an OTG assist, but the fact that it resets the situation is good enough for Thor to restart his pressure game. Taskmaster has the edge in this matchup, but the smarter more patient player will always win.
Vergil’s stupid, but if you treat him almost like Taskmaster, you’ll do good. The range on his normals are a lot bigger, so you’ll have to adjust your spacing. He won’t be doing much zoning, so you can feel free to use your Sparks whenever and however you want. I personally like using them to bait out a teleport. Be careful when air dashing close to him. His sword will anti-air you out of the sky every time. Again, spacing is key. Use your charged Mighty Strikes as best as you can. And when he starts doing those stupid rapid slash mix ups, grab him. XFC Mighty Punish will help you out here.
Wesker, you can pretty much run a regular Thor game here. When you’re on the ground, try and keep him out best you can, because he can do some good tick throws and command grabs that can open you up, but if you stick to the skies, Strike through stuff, zone with Sparks when needed, you’ll be okay. Same with Spencer, too.
Strange’s Bolts assist is great for Thor, so definitely run that. Dormammu is an excellent second for Thor as well. The main reason people haven’t talked about running Thor/Dorm/Strange is because Strange on anchor isn’t really his best spot. You’ll be relying on a random Spell to hit, and while that’s a powerful tool to have, for it to be his only tool to use is sort of bad. You could switch it up to have Dorm on anchor, but then he’ll lose out on having the Bolts assist himself.
I have no doubt in my mind that the team is solid enough to run and you’ll get some good mileage out of it, but those two faults with it are something you’ll have to work hard to over come.
Ah, I see. I think I may hold off on that team then until I get better. I want to run Thor/Strange, but I just don’t like most of the characters that supposedly work really well with them. Maybe anchor Doom w/missiles…?
That could work, in reality though if you want Dorm second (which is fine) you should play
Thor, Dorm,.Vergil. Thor Dorm Doom also kinda works but I think Thor Dorm Vergil is better overall.
Specifically because running from xf doom is basically a joke and you wont have that comeback factor. Sure you could argue its not that important, but I think overall its nice to have somone at the end you can rely on.
lolno
Thor/Dorm/Doom is the most solid team for Thor/Dorm, Thor/Vergil/Doom is a pretty solid team too
lolyes.
I run Thor/Taskmaster/Doom so I know what you mean and can agree to that.
It’s not about what’s best for Thor it’s about what’s best for the team. I get that overall Thor dorm doom is better for Thor but I think lvl3 Vergil in the back is stronger overall, also good explanations
, you troll
