Brook Universal PCB + MC Cthulhu PCB in one Joystick Case?

just came here to share the same retro board thing. I have a similar mod in one of my sticks and i’m pretty sure a lot of people around the world would love to have their stick modded for all modern + some retro consoles.

Looks like someone’s finally going to compete with the MC Cthulhu! Glad they’re using RJ45 cables, means I can still offer what I have left in stock.

I hope their TG16/PCE support is better than the MC Cthulhu.

EDIT: Wait a sec, are they seriously going to try to sell these for almost 3 times the cost of the MC Cthulhu? You can get a Cthulhu for $25! I guess this is for people who aren’t skilled at modding sticks, but that price still seems pretty steep to me.

Yeah that is a huge downside to this new board. But what can you do about it?

Just point it out to friends and people asking my opinion about it, I guess. Not much you can do, other than allow the market to sort itself out. If the MC Cthulhu is available for cheaper, and people don’t mind doing a bit of DIY, then the sales will reflect this.

Well, soldering is an absolute no-no for me, and I would never dual mod anything without my hand being held. I’m particularly interested in the Brook UFB-Retro combo, assuming I never have to get my hands dirty.

Well unfortunately toodles isn’t doing much with his product besides just keeping stock at PAS. This is a more AIO solution and possibility of more console support later on. Because to be honest with you this is a tidier, more drop in solution for modders.

where to get mccthulhus for that cheap? i’d buy lots but i’m in Chile

Paradise Arcade has them for $25.

oh nice.
so you just connect this to the brooks universal?
you’ll still need to use another output though for the retro systems correct?

I just bought 2 x MC Cthulhus from PA, wondering what the performance of it is againt this new board in terms of lag. Don’t remember people complaing about lag before . . . .

i have the mc cthulhu and i dont notice any lag.
The guy that made it also did a video showcasing this.

I wonder how hard it would be to combine the two Brooks boards into one. It would make wiring a lot easier.

Are you talking about the new Brooks Retro Board being dual modded with a Brooks UFB?
The new Retro board can literally stack on top of the UFB or use the 20 ribbon connector to attached the two boards, plus some minor short runs of wire between some of the headers on both boards.

The pic to the right is the two boards stacked together.

This is so beautiful. Two boards simply sitting on top of each other lets a man play every game in existence…the magic of it all. Brook does it best.

The best possible stick to use the stack model would be the MAS Stick. It’s monstrous in size. You need to multiply the height of 1 PCB by about 2.5 to 3 at lest to be sure that using the stack configuration can be used in your stick. If not, don’t fret. Just get the multiplier kit, or ask someone around for the information on how to wire the 2 together. I’m lazy, so I’d go with the multiplier kit.

Obligatory
