Brook PS3/PS4 "Fightboard" PCB Thread

Hi All
No timeout issue on V4.05

Keep fighting!

Good! Thank you very much!

Just a little question before i bought the board… Do you know if I can boot the PS3 with the PS/Home Button… I will buy the board only for that, so i want to be sure i can do that.

IIRC No USB device can power up a PS3, only DualShock3 controllers can.

ok thank’s. Is it possible to hack a dualshock3 to do that.

it is possible, but it’s hard af :frowning:

and iirc you can’t use them as a legacy controller in a ps4… but you can use a brook super converter to play on ps4

Hi All

Brook goods work well on PS4 Pro.

Just finished making my stick and I’ve got a weird issue.
Everything is working fine. Except that sometimes the entire stick just ceases to work for 1-2sec, and without doing anything, it goes back to working perfectly again.
It’s running on the latest patch on a PS3. Anyone got any ideas?

Tell us more about your setup. Soldered/solderless? Used existing usb wire or not etc…

I’ve soldered it exactly like the example image on the brook website: http://www.brookaccessory.com/Archive/_eng/upload/01en.jpg , there are no cross connections that i can see.
Didn’t install any LEDs or a touch pad.
The USB cable is a 4-pin cable that i stripped, it was originally meant for a printer.

The PCB is attached to a piece of a wood, that’s further elevated on 3 small plastic nuts.

  • Would it matter if any of the edges of the PCB touched the wooden case?

I dont think anyones reported the problem youre having with this board before witch is why i would recommend double checking your wiring. Maybe post a pic. I applied hotglue to my usb solderpoints after i was done because the board is so tiny its easy to get shorts, especially with stranded wire.

Alright, thanks. I’ll take a look.

Edit: The problem seems to have been fixed after i cleaned up the wiring inside the case.

Three problems in one PCB:

  1. Seems like I have a short on R2 on the breakout board (confirmed with joy.cl and testing the pcb). Does the Brook PS3/PS4 PCB support accessibility features in the PS4 menu? For example, can I assign a L3 to act as R2?

  2. I updated the PCB to the latest firmware (1.7 on Mac and PC, with successful message displayed at the end). But I can only navigate through PS4 menus. Once I get inside any game’s menu, it doesn’t work anymore (tested with multiple games). But when I get to the active game (say, enter SFV training mode or versus, after selecting the char), it works OK. Buttons works normally. But if I hit options, it doesn’t work anymore. I can only press options to go back to game again.

  3. Plus, I’m getting 8min timeout, even in the ps4 menus.

Any thoughts?

where did you buy it? contact them to replace a new one if you are sure there’s a short on the breakout board.
and when did this start to happen? from the very first time of your purchase?

I bought from a local reseller in my country. But I’m pretty sure the PCB and breakout board is chinese (very similar to some models in AliExpress).

Yes, I noticed all the mentioned problems from the first day. I was looking for some workaround, but I think I’ll have to return it. Seller wants to refund me, but doesn’t have any replacement.

Just get the refund and wait for brooks new ps4 board. It has screwterminals by default.

V4.06 released today… Brook is working fine without any patch file.

Is there any word on the firmware update for analog controls? I actually bought the board to use as a Project Diva controller and being able to add analog sticks would be a great addition. I see that the new fighting board with sound is in development and supports analog inputs, but the size of this board is perfect so I’d love to see it added.

@thnikk
No… Brook will have a new board to support analog stick…

Hey guys. For those that have an HRAP3 or somthing similar; how do I connect the home button from the board on to a IST Pre-Installed Brook PS3/PS4 Fight Board PCB Kit?
