Broken Paewang PCB on Etokki Omni?

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone else ever dealt with a Paewang pcb that isn’t recognized by PC (let alone anything :p)?

My Omni just stopped working on by my PC lately, and all I get is the “USB device not recognized” popup… Also, I’ve tested it on multiple PCs so at this point should I just accept that my pcb is dead?

Thanks in advance! :frowning:

Paewang is known to be garbage.

Get this. http://www.etokki.com/Omni-PCB-Kit-PS4

Thats unfortunate  To think that the Omni - which has very nice build quality - would come with a weak brain…

Not sure if I want to dump $50+ on something that could potentially be as garbage as the paewang just yet…

Jk, the stick magically came back to life as i was writing my previous comment… wtf… Maybe my constant cussing got its shenanigans together o.o

Now to fix the problem about it constantly disconnecting when you move the cord a cm…

The kit I linked uses a Brook PCB which is Tech Talk approved. A worthwhile investment if you ask me.

The Paewang was really the best (and cheapest) option at the time versus the PS360+. The new one is essentially a Brook PS3/PS4/PC PCB mounted to a breakout board of what looks like Etokki’s own design. I’ve used that miniature PCB on plenty of projects, it’s fine.

Maybe I just got a lemon of a PCB because i’ts been giving me disconnection problems since day 1

That’s because your USB cable is fucked. Replace it with a new & better quality one and it should start working again.

Also improper wrapping/storage of your USB cable can cause breaks inside the cable.

So basically, in the end, I have to get my hands on a new pcb. Because, I don’t think that they sell USB cables that would work with the Paewang separately. Gotta love shelling out big money to get a $50 PCB

Learn how to solder and spend half as much for a new usb cable, a cheap soldering iron and some solder

Dude, what the fuck? You can use ANY usb cable to replace the crap one that came with your pcb. All you have to do is desolder the old 4 wires then solder on the 4 new ones.

I’d say to get the USB Repair Tool by Phreakmods but they seemed to have disappeared? @Phreakazoid

yeah I was looking for the usb repair tool but it’s gone.

EDIT: Dups

Welp, I guess its time to get a soldering iron and become the expert circuit board technician I was born to be.

Sadly probably got a real job :frowning:

Yeah he’s focused pretty heavily on non-FGC projects these days and has stated he’s really only focused on supporting the Link. Try him on Twitter though, you might get a quick response if he has anything lying around.
