British elections - my little rant

First of all, WTF was that forum rules shit?.. anyway?

What a farcical election this has all been.

The British had a choice of 3 candidates, all of whom reptty much agree on the major issues and only diverge on how to implement them. They’re all corporatists to varying extents, all pro-war (with only Lib-Dems even remotely entertaining the idea that the wars probably should end, but no time soon), all of them Keynesian, fiat economic based, all of them pro-Obama administration and US foreign policy, all of them unable to genuinely tell you HOW they’ll cut the deficits; which they all promise, all of them pro-Statist policies and exansion of government and all of them to varying extents pro-European Union. The only real major policy difference were the Lib-Dems who wanted electoral reform, something which they’re unlikely to get, since it keeps Labour and the Conservatives in power.

So now we’ve got 40% of the seats going to Labour who are quite possibly the most discredited government of the UK post WW2. And their major rivals the Conservatives couldn’t even muster a majority to beat them (think about that carefully), which shows just how much people HATE the conservatives. Many of the votes they got were merely anti-Labour votes, i.e. dissatisfaction with current govt policies, NOT out of any genuine love for Conservative policies.

Then we get the Lib Dems a party who rallies in the past few months on how they’ll truly change Britain (BS), but then were hounded by the MSM in the UK (especially pro-Conservative Rupert Murdoch’s rag papers) on various issues. And the only reason why Murdoch allied himself with David Cameron of the Conservatives was because he’s the most pro-war, pro-corpoaratist, pro-Israel-Zionist lover of the lot of them. The Lib Dems managed around 23% of the total National Vote and yet only managed 9% of the seats, so many wasted votes which meant nothing, you might as well flush them down the toilet.

So Britain is left with a hung parliament and the electoral system of the UK is shown up for what it is, a sham, not too dissimilar to the US system, but then birds of a feather tend to fly together. No one is actually IN power and Labour doesn’t want to relinquesh its past power, so stalemate. All parties are now (along with the small numbers of independents) sitting in back rooms doing deals outside of the public domain, trying best to compromise and at the same time scratch each others backs, so much for a democratic system, for when it comes down to it the negotiations have to made in secret. What exactly was the voting for then?

And to top it all off we had a scam, or at the least a cock-up where thousands of eligible voters were turned away because there weren’t enough officials present at voting stations to deal with them. And the British want to export this absolute fictitious nonsense to 3rd world countries, (who I should remind many already had functioning democracies before being destabilised by the British/French/US - delete as appropiate, former colonial powers, HOW UTTERLY IRONIC.) At times like these we should remind ourselves to put our own houses in order before preaching to the unwashed masses of liberties which barely and I mean barely exist back home.

south of manchester is just one big conveserve pot. Go go Cameron, whatever.

brilliant post love, election was bullocks init

Possibly the saddest irony is that the Conservatives, who we’re told so much of Britain rests on, could NOT manage a majority. Even with a discredited Labour govt (who were only behind by 50 seats - which says it all), and a 3rd Party Lib Dems who everyone and their Grandma knew would NEVER get into power, and they still couldn’t manage it, even with full backing of many of the large MSM outlets.

shout out to my fellow scots for not voting conservative. we pretty much saved britain’s ass by stopping them from getting a majority.

labour / lib dems are slightly different shades of neo-liberal, and the conservatives hate poor people. those are the major parties in a nutshell.

a hung parliament is a good long term thing, at least in terms of exposing the flaws of our electoral system / stopping the conservatives from implementing any of their dumb shit

Well whoever wants a majority now is going to have to compromise with the Lib Dems, there’s always hope that negotiations will include electoral reform.

Bloody hell it was, oh well cheerio

As a yank, I have no idea what you’re talking about.
However I will be in London in September, so I all I care about is this: Will this effect, in any shape or form, the ability for me to go to a pub and get drunk?

I was talking to somebody yesterday and he said he voted for the candidate for the Lower Taxes on Beer Party.

True story…on my part. He might’ve been shitting me.
