Hey guys,

I am a sf player from Canada… I ain’t really Pro or anything but I do frequently play sf and go to the arcades… I’d say I’m above average in skill level… My pp online is around 3500 or so

Anyway, I am studying in the gold coast, australia for a couple of years and I’ve been to the arcades in brisbane a few times…

Purpose of this thread is to know where the good players are! The few times I’ve been to the arcades, people there weren’t very good and I win 3 games and ppl just leave lol. Leaving me playing arcade mode with 1 hand

I’m just really disappointed at the brisbane scene. I mean, im from Toronto and we don’t have a big scene either, but there are alot of ppl in the arcades at night and they are good players too.

I’m just disappointed because I thought no scene would be worse than toronto… And when I was still in Toronto I’ve heard of shadowloo showdown in australia so naturally I thought it was a good scene in Australia, but that is not the case in brisbane.

Are scenes better in Sydney/Melbourne?

Edit: As a follow-up to this, Australia’s nationals are on the 17th - 19th of February, 2012 in Sydney which often sees a strong contingent of Queensland based players come on down for a weekend of mashing.

Very generally speaking, Brisbane has a strong focus on MVC, though there is also a cache of IV players. Asking about on the (OzHadou) forums ought to help you get in touch with local players.

You’ll generally have to contact the players before they’ll rock up…otherwise you’re left playing scrubs like you were… Arcade-pimp used to be a solid community that most of the upper-tier players frequented from Brisbane, maybe check that out.

Sydney/Melbourne have a more competitive scene; you’ll need to be prepared if you plan to dint either of these area’s - you can find footage from syd/melb quite easily via youtube.
