Problem is that Rufus shouldn’t get in, like hypersonic says. Against good players that know how to antiair, he has to work harder than Ibuki for the knockdown. He doesn’t have Cammy’s fast walk speed, and he doesn’t have Yun’s pokes. As you may expect, Rufus vs Gief is a really bad matchup.
Assuming that the Rufus player also plays/alts Ibuki, and the Ibuki player also plays/alts Rufus, do you still believe this matchup is 6-4 Rufus’s favor? And you brush off Ibuki’s okizeme game like someone can just read it like a book. Even though I main Ibuki, even I can sometimes have trouble reading another Ibuki’s vortex. Your vortex must be too obvious or something.
What’s the alternative to raida? Crouch tech, which is very very easily raped by dive kicks? How is it obvious? Slow compared to what? Cammy’s option select vs dive kick pressure is with cr.HP, which has 6frame startup, the same as raida. Is that slow as well? To be guessing like what? It’s dive kick pressure, you have to take a guess or he’s just going to stay on your ass all game.
Imo i don’t think that by maining/alting a bad matchup is going to make it even or in ibuki’s favor.E.g by maining bison you won’t make the mu in ibuki’s favor. When they are pressuring you or they get a knockdown it’s all going to be the same. You’re going to do better than someone who doesn’t play him or doesn’t know the mu well for sure, because you’ll know what are his weaknesses his options, etc. But that doesn’t mean you have the advantage over bison or over a bad matchup.
For example cammy is one of my worst matchups, but you’ll do better than me because you main/ed her,but don’t tell me that ibuki has the advantage.A knockdown, two sako combos and ibuki is stunned.Raida is a great move against dive kicks, that are not meaty but i wouldn’t use it when i’m being pressured.Plus she has great frame traps to keep you in block stun.Speaking of cammy after a knockdown can her dive kicks cross up?Because i was playing a friend’s cammy and even though cammy crossed me up i blocked her dive kick as a non crossup.
I didn’t mean to know the other character that much. By additionally maining/alting the character, I meant you also know their moves as well as you know your own moves. This way it’s not just Ibuki winning because the Rufus player doesn’t know anything about vortex, or vice versa Rufus winning because Ibuki doesn’t know the matchup. What I’m saying is when considering both players of equal skill that both know the matchup, I believe it is 5-5.
Fun fact: Sako combo (TKCS , cl.st.MP , cr.HP , cr.MK xx SA) does NOT work on Ibuki.
Fun fact 2: Ibuki’s cr.LK has a tall enough hitbox to stuff TKCS (compared to, say, Bipson’s cr.LK). Because of this, Cammy actually has to do a slightly delayed CStrike and often won’t have enough frame advantage to do her most damaging combo starter, cr.HP). Also due to this delay you can sometimes backdash out and Cammy won’t have enough time to option select or react.
(the above two facts only apply to Super Cammy, since AE Cammy has new combos and TKCS removed)
What’s your plan when you get pressured then? Sit there and block all day? Mash crouch tech? Mash dp? Mash backdash?
Yes Cammy has great frame traps. But what I’m saying is that raida is the superior option, compared to crouch tech. But, since raida is quite punishable on block, it’s also important to mix up your choices. If she’s baiting a raida, a cr.LK can get you out. If she’s doing another CStrike to beat your crouch tech, then raida can get you out. I’m not saying raida is the end-all solution to dive kick pressure, but that it is an important part of your defensive arsenal that is quite overlooked.
Yes Cammy’s dive kicks can cross up, but it really depends on the knockdown. Statistically speaking, EX CStrike has the best chance of crossing up.
Cammy’s can cross up with her CS non ex-ed at will. She also does that gay shit where if you’re crouching it’ll cross you up (or not) but she lands on the opposite side.
I don’t think anyone is talking about Rufus VS Cammy.
If you guys want to believe Ibuki vs Rufus is 5-5 then go ahead, I guess that’s on you. Super Cammy VS Ibuki is not 5-5 either, but to be honest Cammy doesn’t matter anymore because her pressure is a joke in AE, match up is completely different and completely manageable.
It’s not like she can consistently anti air Rufus either without fear of him manipulating the height at which he does it and her eating huge damage. If you’re consistently anti airing a Rufus player, he’s not doing it correctly. You’re making it sound like getting in on Ibuki is a hard feat. Also, blocking Ibuki’s vortex is not as impossible as you guys make it seem to be.
It seems like we’ll never agree on certain match ups, I guess that’s okay. I just think you guys need to play better players after reading some of your theory fighter post. Get a nice dose of reality.
>_< Sorry, that’s a typo. I think Rufus x Ibuki is 5-5, after watching many F-Word vs. Andreas matches (who are very similarly skilled).
Ibuki x Cammy though, lol. That’s no where near 5-5. Cammy has that match on lock.
I’ve played the Ibuki vs. Rufus match in AE but I can’t say anything about it considering that was when the UK had just gotten AE, and we were both trying out new things.
I used to play against Merkilo’s Rufus (good Rufus from northeast region) a lot, and it definitely did not feel like a 6-4 matchup.
Is questioning everyone’s credibility and background all you do? You make it sound like I have to play Ricky Ortiz or be on JWong’s level before I start discussing Ibuki vs Rufus theory fighter.
When people make blatantly incorrect assumptions on why certain matches should go a certain way based on theories that are neither tested nor proven against smart opponents? Yes, I’ll call that shit all day.
I mean I guess if you guys are just happy beating down on your buddies or XBL baddies all day then it’s all good.
It’s obvious that the ibuki player is better than the rufus player. He doesn’t even seem to know rufus bnbs and he applies basic pressure. Also all he does is crlps, crlks and mash ex jesus kicks, lol
Anyway, that’s just what I think of the match-up. I haven’t come across anyone at my level, so all I have to go of are these two’s win ratios. Perhaps you should ask ClakeyD, considering he’s fought Justin Wong, but of course they’re not equal skill.
Not to be rude, but I fail to see any strategy in what you’re going for. I just think you’re overwhelming the player cause you’re hitting him with pretty basic stuff. Nothing really tricky, never go for max damage, etc etc. Poor guy can’t even land his combos after dive kick lol.
Anyways, I’ve been seeing a lot of command dash after blocking messiah kick. What’s up with that? Is that legit or does it only beat out a couple of options?
Just played a Cammy who is pretty much the same level as me. Taking back what I’ve said before, it doesn’t seem to be 6-4, but 5-5. cr.HP is too good, and offline her Cannon Drills aren’t that bad.
