Bricked Qanba Obsidian

I finally received my highly anticipated Qanba Obsidian today. Much to my dismay, I seem to have a faulty PCB (and I’ve already popped it open and voided the warranty).

For those who may be curious, the stick can’t register Down or Right inputs. Whenever you press down or right it always registers Down-Right. I swapped out the harness and joystiq, and tested on a friend’s PS4 with no luck.

So that leaves me with a nice fresh case, stick and buttons, but I can’t really use it to play anything. I’m curious as to what some of you who are more stick savvy than myself would do with it. Maybe swap out the PCB for a Brooks universal board?

That would work

If you just received it, why don’t you return it for one that works? Did you buy it from a company or individual?

Assuming a return is out of the question, I’d go with the Brook PS4/PS3/PC board unless you want 360/xbone support. Would save yourself a ton over the UFB.

Have you given an examination of the pcb to see if there is any thing shorting the joystick directions? There could be excess solder that is bridging the down and right signals.

I wanted to update and let everyone know that Eightarc/qanba have already sent me a replacement even though I popped it open and broke the warranty. They’ve already shipped it out knowing that I wont be able to hit up the UPS for the return (that they paid for) for a days.

I was certain that I was SOL since I had opened it, but they didn’t even mention it.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Glad everything worked out! Qanba customer service seems pretty awesome!

…now about that Chun TES…
