Breathless = Cheap?

I’d rep that if I still could.

Fuck throw-backs, if anyone lands breathless on the OP, they need to give him ultra-backs.

and no phantom/shadow/etc. throws with guile plz. I think it should be like that was back with WW. If someone useless breathless, they have to forfeit the next round. simple as that. Just like in sf4 when someone used sagat they had to forfeit the first round and when playing with akuma in ST you had to play with only the joystick… no buttons…blindfolded. And if you pick donatello in Turtles in Time you have to give all your friends a quarter and if you edge guard in smash bros you have to give up a free kill, and if you ring out in soul calibur when the opponent has more than 1/5 health then you have to jump off the edge, and if you pick scorpion after I called him in MK then we have to switch controllers, and I always get the boat in monopoly, and I always go first in Tic tac toe, and if you get a killtacular in halo you have to sit in the corner the rest of the match, and if you zerg rush and destroy all my bases then you can’t kill my last probe, and…and…and… and if you win you have to lose.

I really want to know who some of these players use because I clearly posted that everyone but about 6 character have a 100% ultra-less way of getting out of breathless regardless of distance. Are they too lazy to read or do they all try and us balrog because he is… a boxer?

why do u post unnecessary essays? please dont waste ppl’s time with that shit

Does Breathless have enough invincibility to go through an fireball during startup? If so its pretty damn good, and that speed is pretty amazing too…

Breathless has zero invincibility.

Breathless has armor, so it will absorb a fireball and go through it.

And, I suppose the very first frame might be invincible (the super flash), I’m not sure.

In my original post I said that I thought it was cheap (read: too good), and I was asking your oppinions on the subjekt.

Most of you think no, it’s not.
Those of you who did not immediately start flaming everyone who didn’t have the same oppinion as you actually gave some very valid arguments (creds to hfz69, GATOR and HAV especially).
The Lone dragon provided some very good arguments for the ones who thought the move was too good. Alone I might add.

I started this thread looking for an answer and oppinions. I’ve got them.

I no longer think the move is “cheap”. I see way to many escape options for so many characters, and I’ve always thought it funny that when I play against an opponent that uses Breathless they NEVER hit me with it. Sure, the ultra is really good but I’ve read too many arguments to think it’s OP (= Cheap = Too good).

To those providing arguments: Thanks!

In that case why are people bitching so much, his Ultra I seems slightly better right now lol… you could just chuck an ex fireball or use an ex move to beat breathless… and reacting to it doesn’t seem all that difficult…

Ex Fireballs aren’t 100% dependable if they instantly release.

Its a grab so it better have only 1 armor though making it hold able is cheap.

Replica basically ended the thread a few posts ago, but I just had to respond:

Breathless comes out in 8 frames (technically 7 frames, if we’re talking about post flash reactions). Ryu’s EX fireball comes out in 12 frames. So, you can’t just chuck out an EX fireball, because Abel can beat it.
Even Guile’s EX Sonic Boom would get beaten by Breathless.

If you think they’re going to wait for you to jump, then it might be prudent. Like Dragon said though, don’t expect it to win in terms of frames if they go head to head.

This thread = the lulz

You wait till it’s released, neutral jump or jump forward. Does this really have to be explained to people?

but the fact that its so quick makes it impossible to react to really, esp if playing online.

the only time ive had it beaten clean was someone who did a neutral jump (at which point i released the ultra on his way down, and he did an EX SRK as soon as he hit the ground, which took both hits and stopped it clean.

it was kinda weird tho as abel actually pushed him back into the corner along the ground while the SRK animation got to its active frames.

youre making it sound faster than it really is, its really not that quick. its not hard at all to react to it, sure if youre jumping recklessly into range its ur fault if the abel managed to tag you with the ultra

most probably its your poor timing. and uh srk being 3 frames and all or maybe its simply…

…thats your problem. that makes all the other arguments void.

Easy mode shut down of ultra 2 with Ibuki is to super jump backwards and then EX kunai. As long as u do it at the lowest possible point Abel must eat two kunais which kills the ultra. That’s basically the least risk u can take if he does it from about sweep range or further. If Abel does Ultra 2 from close range Ibuki also has another easy mode escape. ** Mash on HK command dash and you go through Abel. ** Even if he doesn’t hold it.

If any of you skipped this amazing post because you saw a wall of text, do yourself a favour and read this shit. I died.

LOL

Dunno how I missed that post would have quoted it with

“/thread”

err no need to be a dick about it, you say i obviously have bad timing, i say ‘prove it’. i understand that playing online can sometimes make weird stuff happen, but you only go off the assumption that i have bad timing.

i was merely pointing out an instance where id been knocked out of it to give an example, not because i was requesting help or whatvever or complaining about it.

it is a fast move regardless and i dont think anybody could realistically ‘react’ to it and jump over it 100 percent of the time either.
