Breaking Bad

I am rooting for Walt mainly because I tend to always root for the protagonist in whatever story (Light, Dexter, etc), even when it is apparent that they are going to die and that there is no end outcome that they are coming out on top and/or alive. It’s the character we first align with, the one who’s footsteps we follow, and to me, I just want to see how far they can go before they meet their inevitable downfall. Like when Walt first arrived at the desert after realizing Jesse’s bluff about the barrels made him expose himself. I kind of felt a jerk of emotion because that was it. You lost, the gig is up, even if you walk out of here alive, things are never going to be the same. Witnessing the grand journey of Walt’s meth empire who almost had it all and got away, and to watch it fall … that’s what I like to watch.

And I still say the ricin never gets used, because no one would expect it, and it would be a badass ending with the camera rolling off to the little ricin laying on the ground, never used. (or maybe with it used, but leaving it on a cliffhanger as to who it was used on?)

True… very good point and lucas brought himself down just like I see walt has/is. It was a point like i stated early… n that point was NOT what the movie portrayed but that damn MAGAZINE COVER he did [trying to be more than what he was]. Not knowing when enough is enough till its too late.

“…just cause you kill jesse james doesnt make you jesse james” - Mike

^^^possibly the greatest line uttered to try to wake walt up

AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

LOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

It’s much too easy to stand on the side of morality when you have never been put in a situation like that. You peeps crack me up.

It’s like the faggots that say i’d never suck a dick.

You put enough money on the table and you suck, gargle, and swallow without hesitation.

As for your point on ego on the last quote

It wasn’t about ego, it was about principle.

Walt was working two of the shittiest jobs imaginable.

Teaching high school when he was genius at chemistry, and washing cars. A man with pride would do neither.

Secondly as for taking up the 5 million dollars.

Id have a hard time believing any of you, would accept that money. They built their fortune on Walt’s hard work, on Walt’s genious, and on his insight. Where were they when they where raking millions? where were they when they became multi national? where were they when they went mutli billion???

and then these same bastards have the audacity to tell walt, well it’s your money, you built the company, with out you we wouldn’t have what we have, YOU DESERVE IT. THE FUCK IS THAT SHIT???

Only reason they wanted to pay was because they felt bad that they are living the good life, and the realization that the man that made that possible is living a shitty life, working a shitty unfullfiling job, and is dying slow painful death made them feel bad and wanted to throw money at him so that they could feel better at night about themselves.

Most of you who throw the morality card around like its free, do so because it’s easy to say you would.

You give me enough money I’ll slob on that knob right now.

I have a hard time believing anyone in this thread would pursue a deadly drug dealing enterprise to preserve their childish notions of pride/principle/whatever stupid reason.

If I was dying I’d kill to save someone I cared about. Pushed far enough with no other option I might do it without terminal illness. If I was Walt, where him and I would have diverged is I would have taken the handout from his college roommates that got rich off something he helped create. Elliot even offered him a job? I would have swallowed my pride and turned my life around from there. If that wasn’t an option, then maybe, just maybe we might have gone the same way. I don’t know, because I wasn’t in every last situation and I’m not sure exactly where I’d have drawn the line. Maybe times when Walt did draw the line I would have gone fuck the line and as a result made life a lot easier on myself.

I know SRK’s collective masculinity is fragile and easily threatened, but there’s a big difference between sucking a dick and shooting a kid. :coffee:

This page has been among the most amusing to me so far because it truly crystallizes how mentally and emotionally stunted some of you are (underdeveloped people on the internet no way!). As I’ve said many pages ago, Breaking Bad is above all else a show that acts as a litmus test for the audience’s moral foundations, it holds a mirror to your personal line in the sand. Anyone who thinks it’s “just a show” or “escapist entertainment” hasn’t developed the necessary brain cell count to comprehend why the show places it’s characters in such mentally and emotionally taxing arenas time and time again.

This page proves a lot of you have failed the test.

I think some people are fully aware of their mental and emotional states they just chose to take it less seriously. In the end it is a show, and you can distance yourself from it as much as you like as I’m sure the actors do. I doubt Bryan Cranston is a serial killer in real life. If the actor can do it, so can the audience.

The fact the show makes that very difficult for some people says something about how good it is. If you are going to study it though, if you’re going to ask questions I think you’re right. Enough of the show sits in a grey area where different kinds of people will have very different responses. I know that I personally value certain things more than being considered a good person. I already know there are very few lines I’d be unwilling to cross in exceptional circumstances and why I hope I never encounter them. It makes it harder for me to judge others, fictional or not, when I can’t say I’d personally do the “right,” thing. For others it’s easier to take the moral stance, I just find it hard to view anything as black or white, good and bad. It’s all different shades of grey to me, some are just darker than others.

Leave it to SRK to turn a perfectly good thread about a perfectly good show into moral crusader nonsense, dick sucking, and shooting children.

This is exactly what fanboy-ism sounds like.

Show sucks now. Walt went ape shit for his money last episode. Now he would give it all up for Hank? Please. Not to mention Walt telling them he had that money ensured it would get taken.

Walt really that stupid to think they would let him go? DEA agent with a busted leg just wander around…how would he ever explain that away? Partner dead?

Why would Walt bother telling Jesse that? I mean really, he didn’t want Jesse to get done dirty, and so then he turns into spiteful over it? This is really minor though, I could see him doing that, just seemed a bit out of character. If Hank and Gomie weren’t so fucking stupid and Hank hadn’t called his wife and instead called the office, it would have been fine.

WTF is with Marie making Skylar say it right then and there? That was ridiculous. At least go home and tell him. Right fucking now? Great idea.

Skylar pulled a knife on Walt now? Now is the line? She is fine icing Jesse but gets morals over Hank? Walt didn’t even kill Hank. What’s up with Walt Jr? He knew that Skylar knew, wasn’t like she was innocent, and she did pull a knife on Walt.

Skylar is fine putting Ted in a wheelchair and doing all these bad things, but when shit hits the fan, she gets all on her high horse? Fuck her.

Was Walt going to stab her? I didn’t think he was but perhaps I’m misjudging that part.

Why would they beat up Jesse (his eye looks pretty bad) when they were going to need him to make Meth? I mean a few punches here or there, but you really want a guy with vision trouble working in that lab?

I felt like Walt has regressed, just like the episode starting with him in the RV. He is naive Walt again. Walt beat Gus, he has a capable mind, but now he is getting outplayed by Jesse this season? He is clueless against Todd’s group. I feel like the guy has dementia this season.

The only thing keeping it together is that the cast is full of good actors.

Wasn’t Recessiontime the same guy who claimed that any action Walt takes that contradicts his early image as a rebellious hero is out-of-character, even though the show has been meticulously deconstructing that image almost since the beginning?

well, lets enjoy the remaining episodes, right now this thread is a loophole lol

ps: fuck Walt jr!

Walt Jr will tackle your ass and beat you with his crutches and suffocate you with raisin bran crunch

btw, anyone who aims a gun at Walt, ends up dead, Jeese wont be the exception to the rule

10 things missed

Walter Jr. kicks ass. With Hank gone, he has graduated to become the manliest character on the show.

I predict another spin-off. Walter Jr: mild mannered car wash cashier by day, hard-boiled crime fighter by night.

Trust me. The moment somebody realizes that they can make crutches with gadgets inside them, this show is going to happen.

Yeah; that syrup squirt crutch will make his foes want to stick to the law.

As lame as that was to anyone reading, it was way lamer in my head. I think that’s why I posted it.

The crook dangles by his fingernails over the edge of a great Albuquerque skyscraper. Walter White Jr. stands over him.

“You’ve just been Flynned… bitch.”

The crutch knocks the hand away. The crook falls. The crutch has already shot out a high-tensile net, which captures the crook before he hits the ground. He hangs helplessly in waiting for the police. He scans furiously with squinted eyes, but the mysterious man on crutches is already gone.

Meanwhile, the cops receive a link to a website, anonymously and routed through several proxies multiple times around the world. The site is simply coded, with awful colors and Comic Sans. It contains a list of foiled criminals, the locations where they were left trapped in the night, and a message at the end in all caps. The message is succinct: “Don’t be such a bunch of PUSSIES.”
