Walt’s going to kill Todd, and the Aryans are going to kill Skyler. True conjecture at this point, but it seems like he REALLY wants to stay clear of the game at this point, and Lydia doesn’t want him to. He’s going to fuck up and get Todd killed somehow, and the Aryans get revenge. Again, pure conjecture, but I don’t really see Todd’s character being spent as any other way than a cog to get some true despair going.
I “understand” the things I’m about to mention, but still:
Spoiler
1.) I find it shocking that Marie didn’t reveal how Hank’s medical bills have been paid by now. Wouldn’t paid bills despite a lack of insurance coverage be of interest to the DEA if they’re looking at Hank over this? As Hank himself already said, this won’t turn out well for him.
2.) If this whole thing comes down because Jesse is fucking up so overtly, I’m going to be a little mad. Even though I totally get why he’s acting out, still… something feels dumb about it. Has he not considered that if Walt did all the stuff that has Jesse scared right now, he might hurt Andrea and Brock? And why not give some of the money to Andrea? The whole thing just strikes me as stupid, even though I know the writers will make it good in the end.
I feel future episodes are going to address or eclipse these concerns, but they bug me ATM. Still a great ep though.
that whole scene was rife with allegory. when she takes her blindfold off, she immediately tries to fix her hair- she’s trying to maintain her professional outward appearance. she steps out of her car and puts her hands in her pockets-she wants them to remain clean. however, the second she begins to walk towards the MethMorons, it’s clear she is having a hard time maneuvering the desert soil in this fashion. we can see her Louis Vuitton heels sinking into the sand as the main dude speaks to her- a way of reminding us of her current dilemma. as this is happening she begins to stand on the balls of her feet in order to compensate- again, attempting to maintain her outward appearance given her current situation. now an interesting thing happens, we see her from the front as she replies to the main dude and she’s perfectly poised. her feet do not appear to be sinking into the soil. she looks calm and collected. we can surmise that to the MethMorons, she’s never lost her professionalism. she’s solid. then the camera switches and we can see both of them together in the same shot. this angle can be considered the viewers’ perspective. she puts her right foot forward and we can see her heels beginning to sink again; main dude probably would have caught it, but he isn’t paying attention- she asked him a question dealing with a buttload of zeros behind it. he turns his head as she wobbles slightly. he signals Moron#585 to open the secret passage, and then they begin to walk towards it. notice this time, she takes her hands out of her pockets- willingness to get hands dirty for a purpose. she gets down there and comments on how filthy the place is- allegorical foreshadowing. during the firefight she cowers on that filthy floor, nearly laying on it-willingness to go pretty far for a purpose. then before Todd pulls her out of the lab, she comments on how she doesn’t want to see what happened-wanting to turn a blind eye to the destruction she has caused; at this moment and obviously in her business dealings. notice as Todd helps her walk around the carnage, her heels no longer sink into the soil, like, at all-* her new reliance on Todd will get her out of this mess she’s in*; all while the murderers around her scoff at her covering her face- most likely because of the absurdity of trying to keep the sensibilities of an innocent person while being in bed with the Aryan Brotherhood (Todd’s uncle has a Swastika tat on his neck).
^If that were the last post in this thread I’d be perfectly happy Shaft Agent.
I was telling my gf last night that this episode was straight up Lydia Calf Porn. I couldn’t remember the SRKer that showed me the light but that light still burns bright inside of me sir.
How would she do that? It makes no sense to dig that thing out of the ground.
[details=Spoiler]
I see Todd running the shit with his rednecks for a while but then not being pleased with the product so Lydia sends these guys after Walter. Skylar/Jessie dies because of these dudes and Walt runs away. He comes back to set shit right and uses the ricin to kill himself/your mother. [/details]
She is taking all the equipment, not necessarily the lab itself. Why? Surely a women of her resources would be able to get ahold of a lab. Why does she need this particular lab? Its fishy. She wants walt back. Every move she makes is to get walt (or Jesse) back. How does this play into that?
Lydia kinda reminds me of Walt, the way she has that clumsy “fish out of water” attitude to getting her hands dirty. The same goes for her ambitious nature, but she’s even worse because of her simple need to create and maintain a high-maintenance lifestyle. She didn’t start doing any of this of out necessity, she could’ve lived a decent life without getting involved in any of this.
Her and her daughter would’ve been fine without the extra cash, but she keeps gambling big-time with her life and the life of her child. Lydia is a monster, a monster with an expensive business suit and high-heels.
I have to wonder how she got into the business. It’s pretty clear that she was in it for a while before she was ever on the show, except strictly in a behind-the-desk capacity.
yeah I’d love it if there was some elaboration on Lydia’s past since she’s showing up more and more. her apartment looked pretty posh so it doesn’t look like she’s got big debts to pay like Walt.
Lydia brings a nervousness on screen that I can’t really align with her character. Organizing multi million dollar global drug shipments and successful / professional business woman for many years? Then why so nervous? You would think she has the resources to build in contingency along the way so that it doesn’t reflect on her. I think she rolled into the drug business on the merit of her role in the company that enabled her to facilitate or obscure some admin inconsistencies for heavy rollers. Like that German guy that killed himself. German guy died, she has more control, she now enjoys the thrill without wanting to be fully accountable for the darker side like the killings or general meth misery. To her, meth is just another commodity that she feels driven to make that sale on whilst beating (or in this case eradicating) the competition. By killing those guys in the desert it just feels like she’s bitten off more than she can chew. Putting her trust in young Matt Damon so soon? Who’s connected to what seems to be the AB? Nahh. If she thinks she can just maneuver her way around those types of people by using her corporate business ethics then she could be in for a surprise. Sometimes people shotgun you just to see you go up in the air.
This was the first time in the series that I saw Skylar showing some true respect for Walt. Sure it might’ve been in part due to a need of self-preservation (even then, Hank gave her an out), but it was also because she has a newfound respect for who he’s become, not necessarily accepting his transformation but seeing his strength.
Marie’s epic reads and purple passion aftermath was really nice to see unfold.
It’s funny when Walt sees his barrels o’ cash he barely acknowledges it. It’s almost like some background centerpiece- important if missing, but there’s no real value associated with it other than being his “legacy”.
The little cinematic touches like the barrel-cam when Walt was pushing the barrel into pit, or the occasional use of time-lapse are what makes BrBa eps that much more enjoyable.
Lydia is a sneaky bitch, but a sexy sneaky bitch. Those legs looked quite tasty and it was no accident that the camera panned to them several times. Ehrmantraut was right to want to off her, now she’s in dark horse mode.
lol that part where Kuby told Huell to stop channeling Scrooge McDuck…wonder if that could help increase sales of Ducktales Remastered that just came out last week. Impeccable timing.
