I knew of Marie’s purple/ periwinkle obsession, but Pinkman’s color scheme was pretty interesting.
I know if they did the same thing for Vin Diesel in all 6 of the Fast & Furious films it’d just be white and blue. lol
I have a strange feeling whatever success Walt would have against them it will be extremely fleeting, hence the prologue. They simply have more resources, so it’s a war of attrition. I see Hank and Walt being forced to team up along the line.
My full take on how the rest of the eps will go:
Spoiler
Walts dealings with Hank, Jesse and Czech Mafia will play out in a rather mildly violent but suspenseful way, then the big comeuppance will occur on episode 7. Episode 8 will entirely be focused on the prologue events (or maybe a small admixture of the past if the finale is 60+/90 minutes)
The last four minutes of the show were a complete masterpiece and EVERYTHING was on point.
Besides the obvious dialogue being superb, the dual lighting and shadows on both Walt and Hank show the seriousness of the situation (obviously) and their *opposite personalities. * Both have light/shadow going on showing their conflicting feelings; but each on opposite ends. It REALLY brings out the flavor of the episode.
By cutting the lightsource from the open garage off, we immediately knew something was going to go down.
It doesn’t stop there, at the end of the scene we have Hank whose completely dressed in reddish dark standing in the light while Hsienberg dressed in white stands in the darkness. To signify the juxtaposition of their choices and personalities.
The long-shot at the end really brings out the gravity of the situation and shows with the light from the window the whole concept of the series as a whole: Everyone goes about their business while grave decisions and ethical dilemmas go on in the inside. It also brings a level of awkwardness to it.
I don’t think Walt took the risen to kill an enemy. He looks like he’s about to put up an Alamo offense with his giant M60. He probably has the risen to take himself out quickly instead of a bullet. He’s destitute, and from what we’ve seen there’s nothing left for him to live for. His life is ruined, he’s been on the run, and now he doesn’t care if anyone even sees him. I wouldn’t be surprised if the show ends with him offing himself because everything just went to shit.
[details=Spoiler]Walt will use it on Jesse; or at least attempt to. Hank can’t turn Walt in. Walt paid for Hank’s hospital bills from the cousins’ attack, so Hank’s basically screwed. His only way to get Walt locked up and himself off scot-free is to get Jesse to testify. I mean, Jesse’s already super emotionally unstable. Not to mention if Jesse finds out Walt’s been lying to him like crazy. Oh man.
Also, in the season 5 intros with Walt in the near future, Walt is wearing Jesse’s trench coat from season 1. Coincidence? Who knows.[/details]
It’s obvious from the prologue that Walt has bigger problems than Jesse at this point. He doesn’t even seem to care much about his well being either. He’s trying to finish something, whatever it is, on his own terms.
Well yeah, that’s kind of the whole point. It’s a foreshadowing of things for the watching audience, and it’s an in-story way of saying “everything is connected”.
Like Walt indirectly causing a horrible airplane disaster when he killed Jane. The disaster didn’t add anything to the overall narrative, but how it’s all connected is what makes it much crazier (and better).
What an anti-climax if the ricin didn’t even work, like Walt is some kind of poison expert? Maybe he fucked up making it and they’ve been so worried about it all series for no reason
I just caught up with the latest ep. Walt is too far gone, everything about him spells it out.
[details=Spoiler]You guys are right with the Gus parallels. Just look at the car wash scenes. The body language. The Jesse manipulation. He pretends he’s coming to terms with everything but the reality is that he does not give a fuck at all. It’s hard to keep rooting for him but I love the character nonetheless. Hank is in turmoil - punching Walt was a gut reaction but he’s connecting Walt to pretty much everything…it gives him an idea of how evil Walt can be when provoked. He wants to put him down but is shitting himself at the same time.
Tread lightly…fucking hell man…can’t wait for the next ep :). [/details]
Knowing the hilarious miscues of Walt dating back to the very first episode, that wouldn’t surprise me lol. But at least he knows how to make bombs (mercury, blowing Gus to Mercury)
If Walter was out of the game why not get out of the area. Take your money, take your family and just get the fuck out. If an incompetent individual like Lydia can find you on the basis of your front line business, that’s not good.
Walt’s to drunken with power to leave the dope game. He craves the control his status brings him. Gotta remember, he was shitted on his most of his life, and had his dreams stolen from him. He thought he could get in and out the meth game unscathed, but ending up relishing what he’d done.
The second he realized what he was capable of, he was intent on making sure EVERYBODY acknowledged it and making sure they’d never look down on him again, only he took it too far and lost himself. Hubris is a muthafucka
It seems pretty clear he did go to New Hampshire, if it was under witness protection or the vacuum repair man or just on his own, I don’t know. He had a New Hampshire license, and new hampshire license plates on his car. He came back into town, from New Hampshire, for something.
How do you guys think Skyler dies? In “Live Free or Die,” Walt’s doing the bacon thing, and his fake last name is Lambert, which is Skyler’s pre-marriage last name. Assuming that wasn’t just a shout-out, that means something terrible happens to Skyler that Walt feels remorse for. He wouldn’t be doing all that if she went into witness protection…
