ST was a somewhat dumbed-down and more gimmicky HF, but it’s still so good that people don’t notice or care. ST->A2 and A2->3s+CvS2 reflect the same trend. the fg craze dying down won’t get them to make better games, it will lead to either more of the same or no new games again.
also lmfao if you think people will go back to play non-capcom games, or even old capcom games. the only time a non-capcom game consistently outdrew capcom’s stuff at majors was ggxx accent core in 08, and that took 7 years of no new games competing against a fresh US console release. american scene is extremely biased - witness the lack of play for kof98 and 2k2 during the “dark days”. and look at how quickly the old games died after sf4 and mvc3 - mvc2 went from evo game to like 8 players at final round and not happening at all at season’s beatings (THE marvel major, mind you). GGPO has kept ST alive but not exactly growing. etc.

Only old school Capcom game that had any bit growth was Vampire Savior(in America) which went from 5 to 10 players on ggpo to around 30 and a small scene in Ohio and that is still minor. Not enough support or players for the god forsaken sequel everyone wants (Not happy about Jojo’s).

I’d say new features are good for the most part. The problem comes when they are implemented poorly.
