Pretty much exactly how I feel. Just like Mr. SNK said I feel as if there should be an age limit. There is so much swearing and gambling going on in tourney I don’t know why people talk about keeping it for the children. I do believe they should be allowed at evo though.

You know, if we take a look back at all the controversial things that have happened in our history. It won’t be long before people just let it slide. We all know this won’t destroy the FGC, the FGC survived on holding tournaments in peoples houses, or sometimes high school auditoriums, people still showed up whether they were sponsored or not because they love the fighting games, and the environment of meeting and playing with like minded individuals. So what if the dude next to you, is sponsored by a porn site, is that going to effect your gameplay in any way?
This was funny at first. LI Joe getting sponsored by Brazzers was definitely humor fuel for the stream monsters jokes, no one took it seriously but LI Joe I’m sure. So now that he has his sponsorship, and the porn industry may want to invest in the FGC so we dan get better, people start to take this seriously? C’mon guys…c’mon.
I’m just hella ranting, but really I hate it when things such as the Miranda/Aris scandal, Kotaku, or whatever comes between and divides us when we’re all on this forum for one main reason.

I also want to add in that there are many local tournaments held in barcades and places that serve alcohol. And it’s not like if Brazzers held a tournament there will be live sex acts going. When I was involved with the ski and snowboard industry at their annual trade shows, there was plenty of adult entertainment support/marketing going on during and after the show each day. The most I saw from them is maybe a little skin. Like someone mentioned, NOS brings their scantily clad women at tourneys, and the same girls are go go dancers at auto shows.
People need to realize that this culture has been through it’s ups and downs, and now that it’s on it’s second wind, the target market is a lot larger than what it once was, and I don’t see the EVO brackets full of prepubescent snot nose kids. If you take a conservative route to making these events as clean as possible around violent competitive games, that’s almost like an oxymoron. Live a little.

You’re totally right. I mean, during the 09 surge, wasn’t there a significant SF4 invitational called Bar Fights? No one whined about having our young players (Jayce the Ace was there) going to an event where alcohol is present (and consumed), because tournaments are run by competent adults. Why is everyone all of a sudden scared of some players being sponsored by a porn company? The US and our double standards, that’s why.

Did half the FGC misplace their balls or something? This is fucking awesome. What I’ve always loved about the FGC is how raw it is. We need to be true to what most of us really are. A bunch of males in our 20s who already knew what Brazzers was loooooong before any of this. Shit I’m pretty sure that any of the 13 year old little angels that people are trying to protect, already know about it. This isn’t the 50s. For god’s sake, Evo is in Sin city. How about instead of trying to pretend we’re something that we’re not, and trying to be accepted by everybody else, we embrace whats going on and hope that it might bring some extra fun to the FGC? I’m not saying that this means crazy after parties with Gianna Michaels and Jayden Jaymes. But what’s the worst that could happen? If you ask me, just the fact that something like this is even possible, automatically makes the FGC more exciting than any other community.
