There’s a rather large difference between rationally pointing out the very possible negative consequences of an action and making emotionally charged, sensationalist generalizations with no basis in reality.

We’re the first Fighting game team to do so, Do you think they would agree with me sending my players to a Brazzers tournament? Would Monster, Intel or Kingston agree with EG sending their players to that? Like I said, it looksgood/great for the FGC to some of you, but you’re only thinking about your own personal gain or wants in this. Im responsible for my players and at the end of the day, I gotta go through potential sponsors through a fine tooth comb. I thought long and hard about approaching Beer companies for sponsorhip, but I decieded on not going that route due to EVO trying to go the right way about things.
Doesn’t really matter who “employer” is, mostly semantics at that point. The fact is, is that it happens, and it happens a lot. Are there people who had a shady past and still made it out on top? Sure, but remember that they also have to work very hard to keep that past a secret, in this day and age when a quick google search of your name or alias will pop up with your twitter, facebook, tumblr, news articles across the web plastered with BRAYZURZ ( shoutouts to Mr. Wiz ) and Cyber Athlete, its not so easy to hide that.
Not that I think it needs to be hidden or whatever, but its a possibility and one that shouldn’t be disregarded.

Implying that a major news network might cover this story, or that the presidential election currently in progress might affect this story falls outside the realm of rationally pointing out possible negative consequences to me.
Honestly I don’t think anybody would be too keen on a Brazzers tourney, and I don’t really see it happening either. Even if it happens, so a couple players won’t attend due to their sponsorships. That’s the nature of sponsorships. The FGC isn’t going to crumble cause some sponsors butt heads.
I stopped taking you seriously when you made playing a video analogous to a sport. The most notoriety competitive gaming can hope to achieve is that of competitive chess or poker, however, there is yet to be a video-game that has a comparable level of competition as either of these two games. The sooner you remember that your only playing a video-game, and not a “cybersport” or “eSport” or whatever the fuck you think it is you are doing, the better your life will be.
And yes I do really think companies would see the profitability of supporting a community that essentially provides them with free advertising and revenue. Do you honestly think the these company’s give a shit about how “serious” these games are? Do you think they care about the level of play? Get fucking serious.
You also seem to assume that having an association with the porn industry will have some type of profound impact on the tourney scene culture, which, and I’m saying this a kindly as I can, is absolutely retarded. Do you attend tournaments? Don’t bother responding since it is clear from your white-knight bullshit that you haven’t. However, I have been to several tournaments, and I can assure that a couple of pornstars walking around would not make them any more-or-less kid friendly.They function no differently then the NOS girls who have attended certain tournaments, and yet interestingly enough I didn’t hear any of this outrage when this occurred.The FGC is generally, and has always been, quite tolerant of children, but this in no way means that these are children’s events. One need only take a look at who are the majorities of this demographic to realize this isn’t so. A few pornstars walking around will change nothing.
I don’t think anyone who plays videogames is unaware of the stigma attached to them, however, I do think that most are ignorant of the source. It’s dumb-fucks like yourself who truly believe that, through the wonder of interactive entertainment, they have discovered some kind of intellectual pursuit worthy of respect. While this is only on aspect of this stigma, pseudo-intellectual garbage like this is certainly not helping alleviate it.
Im still trying to understand how being sponsered by a cigarette company, which leads to thousands of deaths a year, goes over without a peep while being sponsored by a porn company, which at worst just leads to entitled bitches tears after they have gone through life on thier looks alone until that reality check at age 27, leads to this massive fallout.

Are you trying to say that players will be fired from their jobs because another player, not associated with them or their sponsor, is sponsored by a porn studio? The only one who this could have any impact on is LI Joe, and I rather doubt that it will. Unless your saying that being sponsored by a porn studio is the same as acting for one, or, to use your analogy, knowing a stripper is the same as being a stripper despite having never participated in the act?

Luckily, our scene isn’t heavily dependent upon celebrity so a few marquee players not attending has little effect. Sponsors like coL threatening not to send Mike/Champ/Combo is hilarious.
You think fucking SYNKILLER hasn’t entered tournaments? I can’t even take this seriously, you can literally just type his name in youtube and find a BUNCH of tourney footage from synkiller. Hell i knew he was at tournaments before i even did that, i just didn’t know he played CvS2. Know your shit son.

One thing I like about the SF community is the lack of any governing body, allowing TO’s to run their tournaments however they want, and if people don’t like them they don’t attend. This is just another example of this concept, just blown up to larger proportions.
Yeah, a lot of outsiders don’t get and probably don’t like is that ANYBODY can throw a tourney, advertise it and people will come.
I mean, if those people really have a problem and wanted us to not go around asking anybody for money, they’d sponsor the events themselves instead of just the players wouldn’t they?
He has every right to be concerned though. He actually runs a group with a sponsorship. I don’t think that those companies actually would allow them to go to brazzers sponsored events. Even though we shouldn’t care ( I most definately don’t care), bad publicity can affect sponsorships and the players that he is RESPONSIBLE for. I think that is a very good reason to be concerned. Hell, you throwing around insults and shit isn’t even helping your case. I am indifferent on the matter, i just wanted to say my piece.
I just think a majority of the fgc are hypocrites. You got srk saying that no 18+ product will be on the stream but they streamed MK last year and will have it again this year. Do we really think a company like brokentier or madcatz will skip evo just because of one player being sponsered by brazzers? I doubt half of the people on srk even know what UVG, LB, DRS, and DMG stand for because I know I don’t nor do I care. Anyways, I hope brazzers plans some really nice events. Triforce and Gootecks had some good ideas.
