People were interested in her because her vids are really popular. She declined a bunch of public appearances for no seemingly no reason, so people kept digging at it.

If your income is based on views for your channel, why would you deny free promotion of it? Its definitely a case of “seemingly no reason” for most reasonable people. I’m not saying that they should’ve invaded her privacy like they did, but turning down the interviews was a little bit on the odd side.
Her channel is/was wildly popular and netting her $5 million a year, not wanting to do bullshit promotion when you don’t need to seems pretty logical to me. Hell, in most interviews I’ve seen, needing to promote work (and yourself) is almost universally looked at as a huge pain in the ass.
The moment she made herself ridiculously popular she crossed over to a public figure. That comes with a bunch of strings attached that people don’t take time to properly process. I don’t agree with it but thems the breaks.
I don’t like how a few YouTube peeps make money over very little while I bust my ass doing harder work. Having said that, it’s not my business how they earn their living and it doesn’t affect my life so more power to them. I think that there’s others that can’t handle it and get jealous to a point where they want to ruin things because it’s a mentality of “if I can’t no one can.” Being a former porn star unfortunately has way too many hangups once you get out.
If she knew that she had to remain anonymous because of her past, she had to have been smart enough to know she’ll get exposure sooner or later whether she likes it or not.
