I bought a brawlstick about 2 months ago, modded it with Sanwa, been working great. (I use it as the “Guest” controller) but yesterday the PCB on it just flat out died, took it to my local repair guy and he said the main chip burnt up. Has anybody had this happen before? What are the best (read : cheapest) options to replace it? It won’t be the end of the world if I can’t, but I still like the idea of having a guest stick.
its to the point that it doesn’t even light up when you plug it in? If its for Xbox and you don’t mind a bit of soldering, try to get your hands on a brawlpad which can go for 20 bucks if you get it on a good sale
My roommate (The repair guy) is really good at fixing stuff, so I trust his judgement. Originally the buttons were working fine, but the JLF had gone out. After testing it with my spares, I determined it was above my abillities and turned it over to him, when he took the PCB off the main chip (Covered in black stuff) literally fell off and turned to dust. He said he’d never seen anything like it. But yeah the Brawlpad idea sounds doable, Do you know if the PS3 pad will work for the 360 model? I only ask because nobody I know has an xbox and I play PC so it’d be more convenient
First rule, you NEVER mess with the pcb like that. Odds are you probably had something like your LS DP RS switch set to RS or something silly hence your JLF wasn’t registering. You should always test out on PC first. PS3 pad? The dual shock 3? If you want to go to all the trouble of making it work, then sure. Its not a friendly mod that’s for sure.
I play primarily on PC, my main stick is a Hori. As for the PCB, he knows what he’s doing. He has a microsoldering station and everything
I have a 360 brawlstick pcb Im not using PM me.
I had the same issue with my 360 brawlstick where whenever I plug it in the lights come on for about 3 seconds then go off and no further response. Never did figure out whats wrong with it and haven’t looked at it since (bout 4-5months ago)
I have some dpads that light up and the turn off. I think it’s the cord. I have had many brawl sticks and they have all worked flawlessly. I have the brawl stick that was my first stick and it’s still good. If you want to go cheap throw a peawang in it. If you want awesome throw a PS360 in it.
Sounds like i’m going to hold off, scrap the wires and shit and slam it into one of those plexi cases Art makes with a PS360+ after I get one in my hori, but I want to thank you guys for the input, almost went the brawlpad way
Yes the plexi case is cool. I have one with a PS360 also.
