Transportation:
If you’re coming long distance and don’t know how to get here, add me on msn and I’ll give you specific instructions.
FROM UNION STATION:
You have two options: one, take the GO Bus to Meadowvale and catch the 44 to the venue. Two, you can take the TTC up to the Bloor line and catch the next train west towards Islington.
From there you can take the 26 or 3 or 20 to Square One. From there you can catch either the 9 or the 10 bus and get off on Queen street or at Mississauga road (respectively) and from there catch the 44 bus to the venue.
NOTE: the last 44 Bus ends around 9:25PM so leave please leave the venue around 9ish so you can catch the last 44 then transfer off to another bus
if you want more detail on bus routes please email truong_danny@hotmail.com
Regarding Equipment:
PLEEEAAASSSEEEE DO NOT BRING SOMEONE IF THEY’RE NOT TRUSTWORTHY. At one NNR tournament that I remember someone’s bag got stolen. That bag had in it a Cube and a copy of Smash. We all pitched in so he could buy another one, which I hope worked out, but we really, really do not want to have anything go missing, so please only bring people if you know they’re going to appreciate the tournament and what it means to us. Leaving our stuff out so other Smashers can play them, there’s a lot of trust in that; that’s trust in the community, and a violation of that trust can do some serious damage.
Secondly, PUT YOUR NAME ON IT! Just because you can recognize yours doesn’t mean others will be able to.
If you’re bringing stuff, please post about it or PM me or something so I know.
Alright, now to cover the most important issue of all:
FOOD - You can buy food in the venue. It’s good foods. There’s also a convenience store across the road.
Games Being Played:
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Super Smash Bros: Xtreme Beach Volleyball

RULES (for both games):
Melee rules in Blue
Brawl rules are in green
Universal rules are in white
- BRING YOUR OWN CONTROLLER
- GAMECUBE CONTROLLERS ONLY
- ITEMS OFF
- All events will be double elimination
- 4 stock matches for Melee
- 3 stock matches for Brawl
- 7 minute time limit for Melee
- 6 minutes for Brawl
- Singles seeding will be done by location, so be sure to tell us that when you register; nothing is worse then having to play your best friend in the first round. Doubles seeding will be random.
If you’re going somewhere, be sure to tell a tournament staff member about it so we can tell you when to be back. If you don’t and you’re not around for a match, you forfeit. We can be flexible to the waiting player’s content. We’re serious about being on time though, so if the waiting player doesn’t care, the Mages DQ Rule will be applied and it goes as follows:
2 Minutes Late Warning
4 Minutes Late Loss of first match of set
6 Minutes Late Loss of set
Sets: Double blind character selection. For the first match in a set, players can either agree on a level or let the game do it for you (The random stages are listed below). After that, the loser of the round will be able to counterpick for the next round. Before each match players may ban a stage.
Dave’s Stupid Rule: The same stage cannot be played twice in a row during a set
Each set is best of 3 matches; Finals are best of 5
In the unlikely event that the final in a set ends in a tie (as a result of time running out), the match will be decided by who has the most stock. If both players have even stock, then it’s by damage; one player has 300%, one has 50%. Guess who wins. In the VERY unlikely event that both players have even percentage (that’s impossible unless you’re noobs and shoot eachother with Fox until 999%, but I have to cover this anyway), the players will go to SUDDEN DEATH in Special Melee, set the stock to 1, and start a bonus match on the same stage. If the bonus match goes to the end of the time limit, then do Rock-Paper-Scissors or something, I don’t give a ****.
In the event of an equipment malfunction, the match will be restart from the last known position or from any point in the match that is agreed upon by the players.
Glitches used to stop your opponent from controlling their character or indefinitely freezing them (Mewtwo’s Soul Stunner, the Ice Climber freeze glitch), or any glitch or trick that freezes the match or makes it in any way unfinishable are banned. Using them will result in the immediate forfeit of the match. Your opponent gets a point. You just screwed yourself.
[Jeffu] says: procrastinating is like masurbating
[Jeffu] says: it feels good until you realized you just ****ed yourself.
Stall tactics get your *** banned.
Please please please please do not bring any modded, racist, or politically incorrect controllers because you will be disqualified if you use them in a tournament match. Nintendo Standards or Wavebirds (see below) are recommended. You may use third party button-mashing instruments if you wish but if you are caught using their features you will be warned. More warnings lead to disqualification.
BRING WAVEBIRDS AT YOUR OWN RISK. It will be your responsibility to find others with Wavebirds and sort out the frequency issues. If you bring a wavebird it is highly suggested to bring a normal Gamecube controller in case your Wavebird malfunctions.
WARNING: I will not tolerate any negative attitude towards my decision to include Melee in this tournament. The reason why I did so should be very obvious. Likewise, during the tournament I will not tolerate any negative attitude towards either game. Any personal attacks will get your *** kicked out.
NOTICE: THERE IS NO ATTENDEE LIST SO DON’T ASK TO BE PUT ON IT. SIGN UP FOR SOMETHING. ALSO FOR DOUBLES: DON’T POST SAYING YOU’RE ENTERING DOUBLES. I WANT TO KNOW WHO YOU’RE ENTERING WITH. STOP BEING SCRUBS.
