BradyGames UMvC3 Strategy Guide Questions

Typos are inevitable when you’re working with deadlines.

For a guide like this, I would rather that the writers work on the content till the very last minute, even if they end up having more spelling errors (as long as the frame data is error free, lol), than to finish ahead of the deadline so that they have time to read through it 20 times to clean out every last typo.

I’m pretty sure that that is what they did the first time round and I’m sure as hell hoping that it’s what they did this time around too.

pretty much I hate gamestop…

;-; I was looking forward to reading the whole thing today. And now…and now I can’t. My hopes and dreams are crushed and I will no longer ever amount to anything because of it.

I’m betting Dr. Deelite is sitting back and having a good laugh.

This Mahvel wait is making everyone crazy.

It was not available to me from any Gamestop in Phoenix before midnight of the launch date of the game. So no. Any examples of early leaks will be thrown out as they are always the exception.

We’re still on this?

I got mine from Amazon. Explain that.

Went to my local gamestop, they hadn’t gotten it in yet but the release date is still slated for tomorrow.

Fingers crossed!

cough

I can wait. It’s really not a huge deal. Amazon has it for so cheap though.

Confirmed, just called the GayStop I go to. After checking the date on the site since September, it has said the 8th. I traded in Frauds of War 3 to pay for UMvC3 and the new bible and they said it was coming out the 9th.

They just told me over the phone that it’s now coming out Tuesday, at the same time as the game.

Yes, it was also available at Gamestop. What’s your point? You enjoy bringing up disagreements from months ago that you weren’t even involved in?

I’m done.

So why didn’t anyone listen to the makers of the guide?

Not prior to launch you didn’t. It’s relevant right now because we’re in that “can we get it early period” where in Sept we were not. We don’t need people going “herp derp CTG said GS had it early for Vanilla so I’m gonna try my hardest to get one from GS for Ultimate.” You were dead set on it being true (for Gamestop…I’m not tracking Amazon…if you can get it early from them great…i’ve had bad experience with shipping from them). Looks like case-in-point is happening again. Hence all the GS updates. You don’t get it early from them and you didn’t before (sans some one-off leaks). If people want to score it before next week they’re gonna have to try somewhere else.

Because 99.9% of the time writers have nothing to do with the release timings of their work. When a book comes out is between the retailers and the publishers. It seemed more likely that a writer, who we normally would expect to have second-hand information at best, would be misinformed than the largest retailer for the product in question.

Surely it couldn’t have been the other way around, that GS just listed whatever date months in advance and let it ride.

Amazon still lists 400 pages, am I “misinformed” there too?

Also I explained earlier in the thread how CTG could get it early where almost no one else did.

Obviously I was wrong in those assumptions. Hence “seemed” and “would normally expect.” We’re obviously super hyped to get our hands on the amazing work you’ve done. I’m just explaining the thread of logic that ran through my hopefulness that you were incorrect in your assertions.

I meant no insult.

Lol, thread should probably be closed. Who gives a fuck about getting early or late; most of everyone who wants it will have it within a week of game release anyways.

Dr. D, thanks to all of you for your good work. I’m sure I won’t personally be disappointed.

For what it’s worth, retailers genuinely know nothing other than whether or not they will stock the item. And sometimes not even then.

Anyway, looking forward to it Dr.Deelite. You teased me with enough Morrigan hints to pique my curiosity.
