Wow, oddly enough, those are the guides I usually use as prime examples of what a fighting game guide SHOULD BE. I usually like to buy guides with games, normally for completion’s sake, but it’s a real pain in the ass when the guide is no more than a glorified movelist.
If it’s by the same people, I’ll definitely be picking it up. I tried to pick this guide up today, but my local gamestop is garbage. I mentioned King of Fighters and they all looked at each other confused as hell. Almost as pitiful as that time I tried to buy arcade sticks for my wii (for tvc) and the girl said “You mean the nunchuck?”. I’ll probably be heading down to a bigger, less shitty gamestop at the nearest mall tomorrow to get this.
Picked up the guide at my local gamestop ( northern VA) EXcellent the guide has alot of information especially for newer players and guys that have been playing KOF forever love it
I flipped through the guide yesterday after buying the game. It did look pretty good but didn’t purchase it due to being low on funds. After playing the game blindly and not knowing what to do at all, I think this will be a good purchase.
So where exactly are people picking this thing up at? I’ve check all the GS, and all the bookstores. Am I going to just have to buy it off of Amazon? Sure wish I could just buy a digital copy.
Just kidding, I was impressed by the SC4 guide too, glad to know its the same people.
Now I wish I hadn’t thrown out that coupon from the Release Tourny…
…to be honest though I assumed it would be trash, and who can blame me? Most guides usually are.
As a long time street fighter player I had no idea how kof worked and this guide explained everything extremely well, all the different ways to move around, the combo system, etc.
100000000x better than the sf4 guide and something that every person should own, excellent job to the guys who wrote this,
personally i bought mine with the game at gamestop on thursday, I think it was the last one though.
It’s always great when players and members of the community are involved in the making of strategy guides. You can really tell with this guide. It was made by players for players. It’s the most helpful guide for a fighting game that I’ve read in a long while.
Despite the missing frame data, I would also like to chime in to highly recommend the guide. I’ve learned quite a bit already that would have taken a lot of time in the training room and in actual matches. In conjunction with Dandy J’s youtube tutorial I feel like I’m actually working toward something rather than flailing away.
Just picked it up today. I’m a brand new KoF player, and this guide has been helping a lot to understand the differences between other games and the new systems in this game.
Spent an hour or so on Athena, and I’m able to get down the combos listed. It’s really helping my game out, I’m excited to put it it to the test against other people.
Great job to the writers. It is very well written, and it’s helping me out a bunch!
I did go back and buy the guide today, and it was really good. You guys did a nice job and now after reading the character sections I don’t know who I want on my team anymore! Even though playing I know some characters are better than others, you guys made me want to play every damn character. Too good. This game has an extreme lack of info on it, so hopefully people will go out get your guide and then expand and really make this game grow. You guys already helped me think up new stuff and stuff to add to my game. Thanks.
