Judah took the type of beating that ruins a fighter. I don’t like Judah, but I wish those low blows didn’t happen… Oh well, what goes around comes around, I guess.
the second would have been a body shot but he jumped up
Karma’s a bitch. Now Zab knows how Floyd felt about low blows. CottOWNED.
Exactly.
Cotto didn’t low blow him on purpose.Karma is a bitch for what he did to Floyd.
Dude is a fucking clown.
God Tier Talent
Shit Tier Ring Smarts
At this point, id like to see Cotto vs Mosley. That could prove to be an awesome fight.
*Btw, Fuck whoever gave me negative rep for no reason.
I remember that around the time of the Mayweather vs. DLH fight, I told everyone on here that I think Cotto would beat Floyd, and severly at that. Like my prediction that Rampage would destroy Liddell, a lot of people laughed at it.
After his demolition of Judah, have any of you changed your minds about Cotto versus Floyd?
Nope.
Floyd still beats Cotto.
If Judah had any type of sense,he should have thrown in combination. He stunned Cotto with that counter-left uppercut several times.
Floyd is not going to sit there like a retard and not throw any punches.
Judah and Mayweather are nothing alike, besides similar speed. So how you can base Cotto’s performance vs Mayweather from his fight with Judah is beyond me.
I love Cotto – my fave boxer currently – and there is no doubt in my mind that he has the mental toughness/chin/determination to brush off Mayweather’s pot shotting. BUT, the problem, and this problem we won’t know til they actually fight, is whether Cotto can deal with Mayweather’s speed, slick boxing and defense. Can he penetrate that? That’s what we all want to know, and you simply won’t get the answer til he actually fights Mayweather.
Mayweather, on the other hand, HAS fought someone very similiar in Castillo. Castillo, much like Cotto, is aggressive, always pressuring, lots of heart, durable, and an iron chin. Though I’m sure Cotto possesses a lot more punching power, his chin isn’t as good as Castillo’s. Mayweather arguably lost their first fight, but he did come back to beat Castillo pretty convincingly in their rematch. I’m sure that experience with Castillo will help him out vs Cotto tremendously.
So we know Mayweather can deal with a fighter like Cotto, albeit with lot less power. But what we don’t know is, can Cotto deal with what Mayweather brings? And, again, you won’t know til they actually fight. It’s very hard to make a definitive prediction on this potential match up.
De La Hoya punches much harder than Cotto, and Floyd took his body shots while smiling. On top of that, De La Hoya actually had the height/reach to get near Floyd; Cotto is smaller than Zab. I don’t even have the time to go through all the aspects that would completely make it a different fight.
I’m not saying Zab lost because of the low blows, but your brain subconsciously goes into defense when your balls get hit; let alone take an uppercut from a world class body puncher. If you say those low blows didn’t effect Zab then your either taking credit away from him or trying to give Cotto to much.
moving along, whats everyone’s prediction on the winky vs. hopkins fight?
B-Hop.
He is the naturally bigger and stonger man.The dude just fought at Light-Heavyweight and demolished Antoni Tarver like he was nothing.
I’m not. It just seemed from the previous thread that Cotto got absolutely no love, and several members suggested Judah destroying him would make a potential Cotto vs. Floyd match immaterial.
I completely agree with everything you just wrote here. In fact, the trouble Mayweather had with Castillo, a similar pressuring fighter, is a big reason why I see Cotto walking through the smaller, weaker Floyd.
Very true. I just don’t think Mayweather has enough power at 147 to take advantage of Cotto’s (relatively speaking) average chin.
Of course I recognize that Mayweather could win the fight because of all the factors you listed, just like Chuck could have beaten Rampage for several different reasons also.
With that being said, if this fight ever gets signed, I am betting on Cotto big time; over one grand easily.
I completely disagree. DLH started out at 135 pounds, and was never famed with the type of punching power that Cotto is. Let’s also not forget DLH’s state of quasi-retirement before the fight, questionable preparation, lack of motivation, and age.
Cotto punches much harder and faster than DLH does now.
who the fuck negs someone for asking for pictures?.. fucking prick.
What Cotto did to Zab was because he was fighting Zab. His upper body defense is like 30% of Mayweather’s but his foot speed pretty much makes up for it most of the time.
Have you ever seen pictures of Cotto next to Trinidad and De La Hoya? He looks like a baby with a big ass head. De La Hoya could’ve started out at 125, it still wouldn’t make a difference because he body frame is so much larger. I just don’t see the relentless pressure working when its hitting arms, belt line, and air. He needs more than that (range) to get through Floyd’s defense. And if he plans on Floyd slowing down…well, we have not really seen that happen yet. I’m sure Cotto will turn it up a notch in a huge fight like that though, I guess we’ll have to see.
i’ve been dling classic boxing fights and i just watched Holyfield/Tyson 1, Gatti/Ward 1. Awesome fight, and the Gatti/Ward fight was fucking EPIC. why don’t ppl fight like that anymore?
Once huge amounts of money comes into play, you get business men and not fighters.
Wardand Gatti let it all hang out there because they love what they do. And even when they were getting paid in the second fight, they still went at it. When you got guys that love the money more than the game itself, then you get fighters who will not put it all on the line.
As for Cotto beating mayweather, I give him a better shot at it than ODH. Oscar’s style was all wrong for Floyd, Counter puncher vs Counter puncher, who do you think is gonna win that game? Floyd has been bothered by fighters that apply pressure and use a good jab. You saw how oscars jab bothered floyd when he was using it.
I wont play theory boxer on here but In my opinion, I feel Cotto has a good shot of if not beating floyd, at least beating him up. People dont want to give cotto credit, but I know from the last few fights hes been in, hes dislocated someones shoulder or collor bone, smashed one kids face in breaking an orbital bone, Busted someone ribs, when was the last time ODH did that to anyone? Anyone still think OSCAR hits harder than Miguel? if Floyd takes that fight, which ill be suprised if he does, hes in for one looooong and bruising fight.
In reply to Gatti-Ward.
Styles make fights. Those two are perfectly suited for wars.Neither one of them would back down from the other
Ricky Hatton knocks out another fight that is shot like a muthafucka, tell me something else new.
He’s picking at the wrong straws if he believes he could taken on Floyd.
And did you see his reaction when Kellerman pretty much told him
“Going into this fight, people knew he was possibly a shot fighter, what’s your answer?”
Then he looks clueless, for about 8 seconds, and comes up with an answer.
Wow… Darchinyan vs Donaire. Owned.
After Donaire hurt him with the first counter lefthook, he showed how one-dimensional Darchinyan is. He just rushes in with a left hand over and over. Beautiful counter.
LOL, Darchinyan is such as asshole. I’m glad he lost. He didn’t even think he got hurt hahahaha.
Btw, while I’m here bumping this thread…
Whatever happened to Syd Vanderpool?
