I got Calzaghe by UD

Too many intangibles to put serious money on.

I think Hopkins will win to honest, when does the fight start anyway? Like how many hours/minutes from now?

Edit: Guess I was wrong, the match was pretty boring truth be told.

Calzaghe wins!!! What a win as well!

ZOMG WTF We have no belts:wasted:

3 Heavyweight belts
1 Light HeavyWeight belt

Damn are WE THE WHITE BOYS NOW ?

I know this is a long shot but…

are there any switch hitters (no homo) IRL? for instance, are there any boxers well versed in traditional and southpaw stance aka RBJ style? something i was just wondering… thanks yo!

Well, from what my friend told me, B-Hop still remembered to use his head…snorts

Hopkins - Calzaghe fight wasn’t too bad. Good win for Joe, he just upped his stock: Tarver, Roy Jones, Pavlik, even Chad Dawson are all big fights for him. Roy Jones was sweet talking Calzaghe on ESPN’s friday night fights, and he is willing to goto Wales for the fight, this is Calzaghe’s chance to take on two legends.

For most fighters, when they switch stance in the middle of the fight, it is just a gimmick. Nothing really effictive comes out of it and they end up of going to to their original stance seconds later.

Marvin Hagler was known to go orthodox, but wasn’t as effective as his natural south paw stance.

As far as active fighters go that can fight in both orthodox and southpaw, Miguel Cotto is the best. Cotto is one of the most complete fighters in boxing today. He is a natural lefty, but fights out of a orthodox stance ( which explains why his jab and lead hooks to the body are killer). But, he is known to goto a southpaw stance when he is very confident or cocky. He does some good work as a southpaw ( though this would be his natural stance).

I agree with stylistics Cotto is in my opinion the best all around boxer fighting today. dude has almost no flaws in his game and has tko power in his short punches. Mayweather vs Cotto would be epic and id be rooting for Cotto all the way.

As for the fight tonight bhop vs calzaghe was a major let down it wasnt exciting at all. Hopkins is still a great boxer at his age and his carefullness/defense made him boring tonight. Calzaghe was equally boring. he did force the fight but when you throw supposed combination with no power or reason, just for the sake to get the a little flash points it becomes useless to people who watch boxing on a regular basis and know the sport.

All in all this was major let down of a good match up, just happy it wasnt ppv.

What? :wasted:

Cotto’s defense is garbage,he has a questionable chin,and he’s almost a plodder.

If a slightly beyond his prime Mosley did all that to him, wait until Mayweather get’s in front of him. That stiff right hand is going to be free,he won’t be able to catch him,and when he does catch him he will have to deal with the best defense in the sport+pot shots flying at him.I don’t think Cotto can take Mayweather.

I think only DLH and Hatton have the tools,DLH has an excellent defense and is the naturally bigger fighter.Hatton has speed(But that speed doesn’t matter if he chooses only to brawl with it).

Cotto’s body shots can seriously hurt Mayweather, but he would have to be close enough to land them, and to get close enough to land them,he would have to chase Floyd around and undoubtedly he will take many potshots to the face in the process.

BTW if anybody didn’t know Floyd and Oscar DLH are setting up another fight for a September 20th 2008 date, and the winner will fight Ricky Hatton in Europe.

missed it by decision.

split but real close.

Biolink. Cotto has ko’d many of the opponents mayweather has beat in 12th round decisions. Mayweather has great speed but cotto has crazy powereven in short range . You say it like cotto has no chance with his power all it takes is one hard shot. Also mayweather knows everyone wants that fight and he keeps dodging it. is he racking up money or scared?

Mayweather vs de la hoya 2 is trash. Sorry but i just cant take de la hoya serious anymore he was a great boxer until he got to the promotion side now he’s just looking for the big bucks.
Both are great fighters but in the first fight they didnt take it as a fight but as a payday rewatch it yourself. De la hoya laughing/smiling in the final exchange at the end of the fight. Get real.
LOL but i would still watch it.

Styles make fights.

Just because Fighter A can beat Fighter B in a few minutes doesn’t automatically mean that Fighter A is >Fighter C because Fighter C took longer to beat Fighter B.

If Floyd’s hands weren’t brittle he would seriously injury every fighter he came across, but because his hands are brittle he can’t completely stamp down every fight.

Besides that as if Floyd would let himself get into that kind of situation. He is fast and very intelligent. No way he would let Cotto wail on him.He took shots from DLH who has fought at Light Middleweight before. There is no doubt in my mind that he won’t be able to take the shots from Cotto.

Pac-Diaz seems like light years away. I can’t wait for June.

Old (as I saw such an article in the papers years ago) but I thought I’d share the image again.

HAHA I remember seeing him carry the flag and was amused by it; apparently the Undertaker is an avid boxing/MMA fan and even uses a submission (albeit technically incorrect) move in his wrestling matches.

Yeah, he uses some triangle choke variant (gogoplata, or some name like that) these days, but Vince McMahon doesn’t let his announcing crew call it by that name yet.

Thanks for saving the time it would have taken me to write a post.

its the gogoplata. which is a rare move to be done in mma.

Just watched the Hopkins - Calzaghe fight… Our greatest concern here in England going in, was some ‘eratic’ Vegas scoring, …but we got the benefit of it!!
That 116-111 score was crazy, it could only have been two points or so either way. Very close.
Everyone saying it wasn’t pretty but that just shows how well Hopkins executed his gameplan, smothered everything in close before it got going, landed by far the better punches in the fight. Reminded me of old school SF2 Guile, bringing the opponent onto you, picking the counters… even useing the phantom lowblow to get some air in… Having said all that, wasn’t the best performance by Joe, came in very square on, never got jab going. He couldn’t have opened up in the way he usualy does because hopkins was too good on the counter. The few times he did manage a spirt, Hopkins (when he couldn’t grab) fought his way out well and re-set the distance… Ultimately tho, Joe forced the fight (as untidy as it was…), and Hopkins held too much.
Im surprised Hopkins didn’t talk up a re-match… It could have arguably gone either way with the judges, and he hardly got beat up. Guess he guaged that it was too ugly a style matchup to get much popular support, I’d like to see them go at is again personaly. Its gotta be Jones next no? That fight was always destined to happen.

Crayfish.

It looks like Calzaghe will fight Roy Jones in November.

During the down time in boxing, the NBA playoffs is holding me down, but there is a fight tonight.

de la Hoya vs. Forbes

Of course, this fight is a tune-up for de la Hoya vs. Mayweather II in September. But, hardcore boxing fans are rooting for Fobes to ruin the plans of that second fight though, not likely to happen.

May 24 ( free tv, staurday afternoon, VERSUS channel)

At Manchester, England (Versus): Ricky Hatton vs. Juan Lazcano for Hatton’s Ring magazine junior welterweight title; Paulie Malignaggi vs. Lovemore N’Dou, rematch for Malignaggi’s IBF junior welterweight title

Hatton vs. Malignaggi would be interesting this fall. Paulie is a good shit talker and would do a good job at promoting this fight.

May 31
At Las Vegas (HBO PPV): Shane Mosley vs. Zab Judah

I don’t know if I’m going to pay for this fight, but if the itch for Cotto vs. Margarito is too much, I’ll buy it.
