Watching this fight and looking at these two fighters now:
Pacquiao has improved much since the first Marquez fight( Morales trilogy, Barerra II) and watching Marquez in his past two fights ( Barerra, Rocky Jaurez), it seems Marquez has lost a step.
A puncher that can combine straight punches with speed is always exciting to watch. We seen Pacquiao box ,coming forward, well against a “turtle” Barerra (II) going out on his shield. Pac is more of a complete fighter now. Complete, meaning he is using his “right hand” more.
I thought Marquez schooled, counter punched, Pacquiao and thought he won the first fight. But he has shown his age against an also aging Barerra and won an easy fight against Rocky Jaurez. The only question I have for Marquez is: Will he show his age overnight? Although, a 34 year old Marquez is more fresh then a 29 year old Morales.
I’d give the intangibles to Pacquiao.
I’d say no knockouts, no knockdowns ( both fighters have good chins) and this will go to the scorecards; I’d say Pacquiao 7 Rounds to 5. This will be a close fight.
I think Pac has improved, but he is getting side tracked and I wonder how much his head is in the game. Marquez is gonna be hungry for that victory. Like you said Style, I don’t think theres gonna be a KO, but I see marquez wearing him down. IMO Pac is gonna fight awkward and borderline sloppy as usuall, but I think Marq will be ready and pick him apart(given no flash KO’s)
Intangibles definitly go to Marquez IMHO. Hunger, revenge, wiley.
Good point on the hunger of Marquez. I forgot about that. THe Marquez brothers are probabl the best brothers in boxing right now. As for Manny, Bobby… Bobby is fun to watch.
Just looking at Bobby Pacquiao fight tonight 6PM (Pacific) Versus channel. At least, its a free fight. And at least, Bobby won more then he lost. You don’t know what to expect from him and that is what makes him fun to watch. He comes to fight, which is always a good thing. His low blow DQ was pretty funny against Hector Velazquez ( Manny Ko’ed Velazquez in round 6). Bobby thought that the " punches were good". He went toe to toe against Humberto Soto. Bobby is fighting an undefeated guy tonight. It’ll be fun to root for Bobby! ( lol)
I know most here probably only follow boxing in the championship level, but if anyone ordered the fight and probably don’t know ( or care) about the undercards, I can give you some info on them and who to look out for. Maybe the undercards can be a little more intersting for you:
David Diaz (33-1-1, 17 KOs) vs. Ramon Montano (15-4-2, 1 KO):
Look out for David Diaz. He is the WBC lightweight champion and possibly Pacquiao’s next opponent because Pacquiao will move up a weight class after tonight. Note: Pacquiao started his career at the 108 LBS division and moved up six weight divisions since then.
Mares ( Mexican) vs. Filipino ( Gabi). This is like a preview of the main event. I went to a boxing event last year and saw Diosdado Gabi fought and won. He is a pretty good boxer/ puncher. I don’t remember weather he was a boxer or puncher…
Steven Luevano (34-1, 15 KOs) vs. Terdsak Jandaeng (29-2, 19 KOs):
Look out for Steven Luevano. He is the WBO featherweight champion. This guy has “crazy-good” boxing skills. He is fun to watch. He is a “converted” southpaw so he has a stinging jab that is from his power hand that is also his lead hand. “Terdsak” ( Turd-sack. the boxing community loves saying his name) Jandaeng is a fighter that fought and lost to Juan Marquez.
