Pavlik vs. Taylor II

Waiting around for the weigh-in in about 15 minutes. I wasn’t going to buy this PPV, but the undercards are very good featuring some of the best Mexican fighters at 115.

Donaire ko’ed Darchinyan and now Vic has something against filipino fighters.

I read that Myaweather is going to play at the NBA All-Star Celebrity Basketball game tonight

can mayweather even ball?

Yeah, I’ve seen him play in his last two celebrity basketball games here in Grand Rapids. He is really fast and plays exactly like you’d expect a small person to; reminds me of Iverson.

Pavlik vs Taylor II…OMZG!!!

it’s goin down, best fight of 07 has a sequel, who the fuck is gonna win!?

Pavlik, and you know this…mannnnnnnnnnnnn

Taylor wipes out the middleweight division,… expect for Pavlik. Pavlik beats Taylor 10 out of 10 times. If Taylor doesn’t finish off Pavlik by the end of the first half of the fight, he’s done.

you all are sleepin on Taylor, I think he’s gonna be fired up and get that K.O, at least I hope so

I’m going on my man Taylor.

Hopefully he can get back to form.AKA the same guy that beat Hopkins twice.

I think Emanuel Steward was part of the problem honestly

Taylor looked uncomfortable in the ring on the first fight. Despite winning on the score cards and with the knockdown point, Taylor was being out jabbed, out boxed. And the jab is his main weapon. Since the re-match is at 166 and the middleweight titles are not on the line, now there are talks of a Pavlik vs. Trinidad fight for June. Damn, Trinidad is gonna get fucked up if this fight happens.

I like Pavlik big in this one. He is the better puncher and has the better boxing skills (and yes there is a difference between athletic ability and boxing skills). I like him by KO again, and that is money in the bank.

The first fight was great, but Vasquez-Marquez II was the best fight of last year my friend.

See, this is the thing. Taylor had all but abandoned his jab for the entire period he had trained under Emmanuel Stewart. He had gotten away from what got him where he was, which led to a bunch of ugly fights and a decrease in his accuracy. IF Taylor establishes his jab like he should be, I like Taylor in the rematch. If he’s wild, or he tires early, then the fight is Pavlik’s. And I think there’s roughly no chance of the fight going the distance.

wheres a link to the hbo show…u niggas always got a link

I agree on your point. Taylor has to be comfortable in the ring.

When was the last time a fighter has won a rematch after being knocked out in the first fight?

  • Vasquez vs. Marquez II, other then that, Pavlik has a huge psychological advantage with the knockout win.

How does Pavlik beat Taylor cleanly like you stated Stylistics? I know that both of them are boxer-puncher types so I know that they aren’t stylistically countering each other.

Fill me in – I’m new to boxing and want to learn more.

Both fighters loves to fight so this will be a great rematch. Pavlik is the bigger man and a good “1-2” puncher. Taylor has had stamina problems and tends to fade in the later rounds. Taylor needs to use his legs more, more movement so Pavlik can’t set up his big right hand. Both are big middleweights, but the weight limit for the rematch is 166 so Taylor will have a bit more energy coming in this fight, but so will Pavlik.

Does Taylor have a “good” chance to win this fight? yes, he does. He did knock down Pavlik in the second, but in my opinion, I would like to see Taylor use more movement in this rematch and not try to go “toe to toe”

As for Pavlik, “keep doing what you’re doing”. Back up Taylor and set up the right hand with good strong jabs. Cut off the ring if Taylor is using his legs.

round 8 coming up

Boxing is an unforgiving sport. One loss and it’s like your career is done.

Well, Taylor has one of the most fantastically amateurish styles you’ll see among the elite. Pavlik* should* be much more comfortable now that he knows that style, and he doesn’t have the pressure on him that Taylor does. Rewatch the first fight, Pavlik starts snapping Jermaine’s head back with the jab more and more as the fight went on. He wasn’t as consistent as Cotto was with Mosley or as precise as Floyd was (in round 9) with Hatton, but it was his best weapon. It’s just a matter of “putting the jelly with the jam,” as Teddy Atlas would say. Taylor also tends to be the type of fighter that rises to the level of his competition, but fights pretty lethargically if he has no answer.

thanks.

ya thats a reason why alot of boxers are switching to mma…cause you can easily have a whole year of losing but if your exciting enough you always have the chance to come back. its definetly not the same for boxing…they’ve made their fanbase into such an unforgiving up with hundreds of boxers who have nothing left for them to do.

i’m watching FNF and Teddy said that tonight, lol

Yansoma: what do you think about Mayweather vs. de la Hoya 2?

Looking back at the first fight, kinda fucked up how the ref. didn’t give Taylor a “10 count”, don’t think he would have got up, but at least give the champion a 10 count.
