tito:
-did most of the work
-landed most of the hits, IMO (can’t look at the numbers because i immediately closed sopcast after the decision)
-played smart but
-could not figure out how to land clean hed shots so had to resort to body shots
-was not as fast as jones
-was not aggressive in the later rounds
jones:
-turtled a good 90% of the fight
-shook his ass a good 75% of the fight
-landed a head shot around the last 14 seconds of each round from like round 4 and on
-knocked tito down twice but
the first was legitimate. the second looked like tito fell from a small blow because jones is so awkward. if that makes sense. he wasn’t hurt by it.
i will say that tito didn’t land powerful punches (in comparison to roy) but he landed more punches. tito couldn’t figure out how to land power shots and in the later rounds regular shots, because roy’s style is so weird and he was dancing and shit to bait tito.
it was very frustrating to watch and i’m sure tito was frustrated trying to figure out a strategy. i feel like you gotta do what you gotta do to win, yeah, but if roy boxed normal tito woulda got at him. tito is not done. put him in the ring with “normal” fighters and he’d win IMO by knockout or by decision. put him in the ring with the male version of vida guerra and he has problems.
watching roy was like watching a soulja boy video. nigga was cooning all night while the commentators slurped him from rounds 4-12. i thought stewart was gonna bend over and offer himself up to roy. yaahhh bitch yaaahhh.
yeah jones sure was turtling…if by turtling you mean walking tito down and throwing punches as tito backed away. look at the compubox jones landed more and threw more.
compubox has a virus then. the nigga kept his hands down, got caught with some shots, put them back up and kept them there the majority of the fight.
except the later rounds where he would wait til the last few seconds in the fight to throw a few shots.
dude turtled, period. tito fought the entire fight except when he paused to try to figure out how to go about getting at roy. anyone watching the fight could see that.
roy could have, COULD HAVE did what you said and knocked tito out. but he didn’t. again, anyone watching the fight knows that. he was bigger and faster and when he did stop shaking his ass, he landed powerful blows.

tito had to have thrown more punches. roy blocked 2423452534,4523453,545345 punches to the face. tito had no choice but to resort to body shots because roy had his hands up most of the fight. nigga got tips from winky.
Andrew Golata vs. Mello fight before the main event was pretty good.
Jones did a good job. He started slow, but his handspeed is still good. The showboating was entertaining and fun. Just like thurst said, its amazing to see the size difference between Jones and Trinidad despite having the same height.
Jones being 39 and can’t depend on his footspeed so he is keeping his hands (defense) up more. I can see Jones in ONE more big fight before his career ends. As for Trinidad, he’ll probably fight again.
Roy Jones fighting Calzaghe or Hopkins would be a great final fight if Calzaghe, Hopkins don’t fight eachother.
Overall good card. I’ll probably skip Taylor vs. Pavlik II and look forward to Pacquiao vs. Marquez II
But reality is that neaither boxer is good, the celebrity boxing match its over.
Really that all that there its to this fight, this is no for a title or possible contention is for plain money. Tito going up to 170? Start training a couple months back to the fight?
it sucks that i don’t have a link, but tito was out thrown and outlanded on in just about every round after the 5th. but whatever, from the way you’re talking you probably had hatton ahead on points before he got knocked out as well.
well if i were only gonna drop $50 for one of those fights i’d lean towards pacquiao/marquez, although taylor/pavlik was a great fight, pac/marquez was fucking crazy.
Good fight. Trinidad looked sharp for about 4 or 5 rounds and then jones proceeded to adapt and take over. I don’t get how some people are saying Trinidad had no power at 170. He was throwing hard, thudding shots to the head and body, its just that most of the punches were blocked…
he connected with a good number of body blows early but they did no damage. compared to guys like tarver, calzaghe and hopkins those punches were love taps which is why jones could eat them.
Trinidad needs to stay his one dimensional ass retired.
