How many people thought Ricky Hatton would get Koed?
He had speed and he fought Kostya Tsyzu before.
Though it probably won’t happen and if Floyd does win I think he’ll win in typical fasion(Large Unanimous Decision), some people in here are acting like its unfathomable that Floyd knocks out Manny. Cumulative accurate punches will take a lot out of an opponent
Im not a hardcore know all the details boxing fan but I do not understand how people keep hating on Mayweather. I mean he did take Jaun Manuel to the 12th and did not knock him out, but if I recall, Juan Manuel did not land hardly anything on Mayweather, but on the contrary when Pacquio fought Juan Manuel twice, both times there was no true winner. So question is, where do people get this idea that Pacquio would instantly KO Mayweather?
Because Marquez fought Paquiao at 17 pounds lighter, when he wasn’t a slugish, fat old man. Hatton was NEVER a big name to begin with. The only notable person he has ever fought before Mayweather was Tszu, and Tszu was way out of his prime at the time. So Floyd taking it to the 10th with Hatton was already embarrassing enough. He never fought fighters the caliber that Paquiao has. Castillo vs Floyd was a great match, I’ll give him that. Then he fights a busted ass Judah, Baldomir, Old Oscar, and Hatton. Meanwhile you have Cotto, Clottey, Margarito, Mosley, Paquiao, etc.
Pacquiao has more experience against better fighters. Compare their resumes…Mayweather will get overwhelmed by Pacman, plain and simple. It’s great though, because people that don’t know anything about boxing will think it’s a landslide for Mayweather, since he’s such a publicity stunt, so I’ll be able to take bets with odds!
No you’re hilarious. Anyone who saw the fight and is being objective knows that if Floyd switched a gear he would have taken Maquez out.
After fights Floyd doesn’t really act like a dick, he generally shows his opposition respect after everythings said and done.
Is that what your arguments consist of, calling facts ‘‘bullshit’’. Go somewhere else with that schoolboy shit. Fact of the matter is you need various characters in the sport. There are many exciting fighters out there that don’t really get a look in terms of paper view buys, Mosley rings to mind.
Fight of the year last year, Marquez vs Vazquez, how many pay per views did that get?
He didn’t leave himself as open to big shots as Cotto.
i’mma what tell you saying–take pac’s dick out of your mouth so i can understand you, kthx.
lol @ JMM being a sluggish old man…what does that make the DLH that fought pac a year and some change after floyd did? and wtf does clottey, margarito or mosley have to do with pacquiao vs. mayweather?
Yeah, Paquiao fought a worn out, beat up old Oscar, and? Pacquiao has fought many great fighters, floyd hasn’t, that’s why I bought up those other names too. While Floyd had a chance to fight them all at one point, HE DIDN’T. He was offered 8 million to fight Margarito and what did he do? He chose to fight Baldomir instead…Classic Floyd tactic…Instead of coming back and fighting Cotto, Paquiao, or Mosley who was the champion in his weight division, he goes straight for Marquez…Classic Floyd. Floyd looking pretty in his fights and having a good record is nothing if he’s not fighting anyone good. This is why it’s relevant to him vs Pacman. Pac actually has proven himself by fighting the best. Floyd has never fought anyone of the caliber of most of the people Paquiao fought, let alone Paquiao himself. Paquiao has been in some pretty tough fights with some pretty top fighter, so he has so much more experience fighting top opposition coming into this fight. Mayweather is not in the same class as Pacquiao…
Who is Margarito? ( I know who he is) If he fought Margarito instead of Baldomir people would question why he didn’t fight the linear welterweight champion.
It’s hilarious that people are still hailing Margarito’s name after he was exposed as a cheater. Guess logic has no room when people are hating.
You going to give Cotto grief for fighting the likes of Gomez and Jennings? Pacquiao grief for fighting Diaz? He hadn’t fought a competitive match in over a year.
Look to who he fights next, not who he fought in his come back fight. I guess the likes of Corralles, Jess Chvez, Castillo, Gatti, an undrained DLH are nothing heh?
People like to ignore the fact that he cleaned out two divisions before going for the big pay checks.
Also you’re looking at things from a narrow point of view when you say ‘‘experience fighting top level fighters’’. Floyd has fought a wider variety of top competition and dominated them. Pacquiao has generally fought fighters that are willing to stand in front of him. Fighters like Marquez and Moralles ( before he was shot) who have good defences and natural boxing ability posed him problems
Cotto fought Jennings and Gomez, but he also fought Mosley, Margarito, etc. paquiao fought Diaz, but he also fought Marquez, Morales, Barerra, etc. Mayweather fought Baldomir…but who else? Since 99 he hasn’t fought anyone good. Gatti was WAAAAAAAAAAY passed his prime when they fought. De La Hoya was pretty much done too, he had no fight in him after the second Mosley fight. Even tha De La Hoya fight was a split decision and arguably could have went either way. And yes, Paquiao had problems against Morales and Marquez, but that’s what you need to progress as a fighter, and Mayweather has none of that. I’m not hating, I’m simply stating the facts. You can’t deny that Mayweather is trying to preserve his image and his clean, pretty little record. Protecting it at all costs…
Because Corralles, Castillo, Jesus Chavez, Zab Judah, Ndou aren’t any good.
Gatti was passed his best but it’s still a legitimate win. De La Hoya was not ‘‘pretty much done’’ in that fight. In the short this consists of you down playing his opposition.
You’re saying he should fight Pacquiao and think he would beat Mayweather, you’re also saying ‘‘Mayweather is trying to preserve his pretty little record’’. Are you ignoring the fact that he’s come out and said he will fight Pacquiao and that he is meeting Arum next week ( I think).
Also stop trying to justify him struggling in the path with it being necessity for boxers.
Great boxers struggle because they fight eachother. Plain and simple. I am downplaying his opposition, you’re right, because he’s doing it as well. You can’t Honestly say De La Hoya was the same when he fought Mayweather than when he fought Mosley the second time? He is trying to preserve his record. He has no choice but to fight now, or else he’ll REALLY look like he’s dodging. Come on man, the radio man owned Floyd free, he already summed up Floyd’s career, I don’t want to repeat what he said…
that right there is textbook hating. you’re giving pacquiao credit for getting roughed up, losing and barely winning fights while taking credit away from mayweather bcuz he’s out there pitching shutouts.
all the guy on the radio did was tell the haters (like yourself) what they want to hear.
And if a great fighter doesn’t struggle against his opposition he shouldn’t be criticised for it. Anyway maybe I should clarify what I meant in my original post as you seem to think I’m knocking the fact that Pacquiao has struggled.
No what I’m saying is that he hasn’t as wide a variety as Mayweather.
That radio man was a moron. It’s a typical class room scenario where no matter how stupid the guy comes off people will see him as a winner because they can’t be impartial about the situation at hand, they will ultimately favour the side they like.
You can’t honestly say the De La Hoya Pacquiao beat was comparable to the DLH Mayweather faced, same with Hatton, you can’t honestly say the Cotto Pacquiao faced was the same as the Cotto fighting at 147lbs against Margarito…
I am giving him credit for getting roughed up because you give people credit for fighting good people. That’s why. I’m taking away credit from mayweather because he hasn’t proved himself. What do you want me to say? How can I honestly say he’s good if he hasn’t fought anyone good? Should I lie and say he’s good to make you happy? I’m automatically hating if I don’t give Mayweather credit?
The problem is he’s not struggling against his opposition because he’s fighting nobodies. Same goes for Paquiao. If he struggled against Diaz, I would have said something negative about that.
All the radio guy was saying was facts. Now what is impartial about that? What made him a moron? Is it because he disrespected Mayweather which you happen to like? He even said himself that why is he getting upset about it instead of saying “you know what, I’m going to step my shi’t up and fight these guys”
The only problem is the circumstances of the fights. Look at what De La Hoya did after fighting mosley. Looked like shi’t against Sturm, Hopkins wrecked him, then Mayweather. He was on a losing streak. Pacquiao fought Hatton not too long after Mayweather did and I already said Hatton is a bum, so none of them get credit for destroying him. Cotto was legit, there’s nothing to question about that fight. Lets not get to theoretical here. I’m talking about bold circumstance. But hey, if you think I’m hating, whatever. I got the same heat for criticizing Roy Jones Jr for the same thing a while back.
EDIT: I gave him credit by the way. Against Corales, Castillo, and Emanuel Agustus, he looked great. I wish he would have continued fighting like that. Too bad the spot light, fame and money got to him…
