Any Joe Frazier fight. He was the absolute best at it from the fights I’ve seen. Especially against Ali, you can see how it can get past the jab and you can come out firing with hooks. Early Duran at light weight also used a good bob and weave, young Tyson too.

whos fighting tommorow?

BTW Litzou on espn tonight!

Looks like Tua is fighting on PPV,and two other guys that I haven’t heard of are fighting on HBO ro some other channel.

BTW,it seems that Roy Jones and Tito Trinidad might be fighting in 2008.It’s a fucking shame that they didn’t fight when they were both worth a shit.

And I cosign with Devil X.Young Tyson was a beast as far as head movements and weaving.

That shit was nowhere to be found during the Buster Douglas fight(Which was the same Night that I was born btw).

Devil X is the most knowledgeable boxing fan in SRK, he knows what he is talking about. To add some commentary to what he said, Mike Tyson and Joe Fraiser were undersized heavyweights ( 5’10"-5’11") and most of their opponents had height and reach advantages on them. Their style helped them get in and land a killer hook to the head or body. Especially in this day and age where a 6’2" heavyweight fighter is considered undersized. A shorter fighter needs to have a “James Toney” type skills to survive ( and Toney still boxing well enough despite being out of shape) in heavyweight.

Litzou needs to be tested. His win last night did not impress me at all. He is a huge featherweight. I’d like to see him fight any of the top 10. Hector Velazquez ( or Kevin Kelly) is the official gatekeeper of the featherweight division.

^^he was tested, and he lost O.o

O.O

Anyway…

James Toney has “James Toney” type skills because he does little roadwork and mainly spars for almost the entire duration of his training camps. As Sugar Ray Robinson said, fighting needs to become instinct because once you stop to think…it’s over.

the fact that tyson was a short fighter helps alot cuz at 5’8 i’m generally the shorter fighter and since i’ve decided to take a boxing type bob and weave the taller fighters in my class tend to be afraid and rush things and also bend over. So i can get alot of oppurtunities for hits on them…as well as kicks since its pointfight/kickboxing.

After a disappointing September, Juan Manual Marquez’s injury ( Rocky Juarez should be thankful), Vitali Klitschko’s injury, Fernando Vargas canceled his slugfest with Ricardo Mayorga ; boxing fans can finally rejoice that boxing’s 2007 fall schedule has finally arrived.

Anyone remember the movie " The Great White Hype" ? This fight is kind of like the movie:

Jermain Taylor vs. Kelly Pavlik

these HBO countdown specials are well produced… The best part of this fight isthat it is being televised on REGULAR HBO, not ppv HBO. I’m surprised how writers and fans can dismiss the “undisputed” middleweight champion so easily. Even if Taylor had two off performances against Ouma and Corry Spinks. Taylor has fought the former undisputed middleweight champion, Bernard Hopkins twice, regarded as having one of the best defenses in Winky Wright, former achampion in Kassim Ouma and former undisputed welterweight and current light middleweight champion in Corry Spinks. That is quite a resume for Taylor, through the latter mentioned fighters were “undersized”. If Taylor listens to Emmanual Steward 100%, its hard to see him lose against anyone in the middleweight division. Tylor’s heart and desire with be on the line as well as his championship belt.

Taylor’s last fight:

Pavlik’s last fight:

I’m not on the Kelly Pavlik bandwagon, but watching the countdown, I respect him much more. I do not know Pavilk except for his spectullar performance against Miranda. If Taylor wins, he will go up to 168 and should fight the winner of the upcoming Kessler vs. Calzaghe unification fight. Pavlik will stay at middleweight if he wins. maybe unify against the Euro champions.

Chad Dawson vs. Epifanio Mendoza ( same weekend as Taylor/ Pavlik)

I would like to watch the middleweight championship fight, but I am going to the Showtime fight at Arco Arena in Sacramento, CA. We don’t get championship fights here often so I had to see a live fight knowing this fight is inferior to the HBO fight. This is probably a “showcase” of Chad Dawson, but Mendoza is a “come forward” knockout artist so Mendoza is either a punching bag for 12 rounds or the fight can get interesting…

This thread is not over yet, Barerra vs Pacquiao II the week after.

I am a big fan of Jermaine Taylor, but a guy with his talents should dominate the fight much more.He has really bad habits in the ring, and his defense is average,on top of not using his jab enough(And it is really good).I actually preferred his corner for the two Bernard Hopkins fights than Emanuel Steward

I didn’t get back into boxing until Pacquiao/ Morales II (Jan 06) so my first Taylor fight I watched was him against Winky Wright. I remember reading that he changed his corner against Wright and my limited knowledge would say “Its Eamuel Steward, that must be step up” right?

I think Taylor needed a fighter could have a legitimate chance to beat him. To bring the best out in him. His last three fights were with southpaws and Taylor is glad to get into the ring with a “normal fighter”. We will see the best Taylor since he fought Hopkins.

I wish I could have watched this fight… Chad Dawson is not going to lose on Saturday…

Definitely will be checking out this fight, and kudos to it not being on PPV. Gotta go with Taylor on this one.

taylor and talent…those two words don’t go together. Pavlik all the way.

i found out that Felix Trinidad and Roy Jones Jr. both are going to the Chad Dawson fight at Saramento, CA. they are going to do guest commentary.

Just watched the weigh-in for Taylor/ Pavlik.

I’d like Pavlik to win, but my money’s on Taylor.

thx for the heads up post styles!
cant wait for the fight

if the fight goes the distance, Taylor wins. if their is a knockout, Pavlik wins.

I’ll be doing a show while the fight is on (:(), but I look forward to seeing if the real Taylor (the brawler with the devastating jab) can reemerge against Pavlik. This is a fight that’s Taylor-made (haha) for a KO.

Taylor got Koed!

Floyd Mayweather is my last hope.

Man down man down. I’m dissapointed in seeing Taylor lose but Pavlik really stepped in and put the beatdown on him after landing that right hand.

edit: lol at the judges scorecards. Obviously someone was getting paid off to make sure Taylor wins cause he didnt win anywhere near that many rounds.

Keep your head up Jermaine, even Ippo lost once.

Sounds like from what I’ve been reading that Taylor almost ended it in the 2nd, but Pavlik held in there. The rematch should be a good one.
