I don’t think Carl Froch is anything special. He leaves his left hand down and exposes himself to easy shots. I think at some point someone will knock his ass out. Despite all that he has a good chin and good reach. I’ve only watched 1 fight which was against Jean Pascal so these are just early impressions.
Jermain Taylor was beating Froch easily, but Jermain couldn’t last until the final bell.
Froch would lose easily to Kessler and Bute, but he is Britian’s only major title holder right now so interesting match ups ( Kessler, Bute) can be made over in the UK.

May 21 - Sacramento, Arco Arena - Vicente Escobedo vs. Kevin Kelley
Woodland’s own Vicente Escobedo, Olympican, trained by Nacho, cut in the same cloth as Juan Manuel Marquez. He justy won a tough fight against the veteran Carlos Hernandez in the lightweight tournament card. He is a very good prospect. Kevin Kelley, I remember seeing Kevin Kelley vs Naseen Hamed back when I was a kid, damn, he’s still fighting?
What is Andrew Ward doing nowadays?
Last time I heard of him was from the Olympics when he won Gold, and they were hyping him up to be the next Roy Jones Jr in the Olympics(PErsonally I know that he fights nothing like Roy Jones), but haven’t heard of him since.
I think he has a contract with Showtime or something.
Lol who next B-Hop. Looks as though Oscar is trying to put a hit on Manny lol. If they fight at 142lbs I would give the fight to Pacquiao, possibly by stoppage.
Also just a niggling thought that’s been in my mind. How do you think Hatton would have reacted if he beat Pacquiao ( which was never going to happen) and he didn’t become pound for pound no. 1.
I think that would be as priceless as his 2 round loss, the poor kid thinks it’s works like a title. It’s a ranking system.
Andre Ward just beat Edison Miranda last night in Oakland. I was there live. It was an okay fight. He’s with Showtime.
Manny is beating all the Golden Boy fighters, making them reitre. Oscar, Ricky, whos next? Mosley?
“Pound for pound” term has been whored out so much. I remember as a kid, I’d hear little of it and Pernell Withaker was the man and thats all you needed to know. Who’s #1. Now, P4P is in like every thread title in the boxing boards. But boxing is a slow sport and it keeps people talking about boxing. its a media thing, but fun to talk about.
lol @ hatton becoming #1 P4P if he would have beat Pacquiao. He was selling the fight and the casual fans probably thought it was a real title too.
It seems the P4P ranking counts more then the title belts. It gives the fighters more visibility.
What are the chances of a Mosley and Hatton fight?
I think that’d be a good match, mainly because I wouldn’t expect Mosley to just knock the fuck out of Hatton, since Mosley is more of a counter-puncher.
Still think Mosley would win that one.
Mosley is at the end of his career. He wants the most money he can get and rightfully so. Pacquiao, Mayweather, maybe Cotto II.
I haven’t watched Mosley’s early career, but he seems to be more of a fighter with good footwork. Mosley would kill Hatton so bad that it wouldn’t seem like a fair fight. Too much size, speed, power, reach, greater skill set, too easy.
Cotto vs. Clottey. people sleeping on Clottey will be surprised. I’m picking on Clottey for the win, and I seen his last six fights, this dood is for real. A smaller, compact version of Margarito, without the Plaster.
I think Hatton-Mosley would be a big draw(Mainly because of Hatton’s rabid fanbase).
i can’t really see mosley doing anything new against pac, granted if he could somehow pull out another performance like he gave against margarito you’d have to give him a chance but he hadn’t fought that well in a few fights so i’m not convinced he’d be able to do that again.
mosley/hatton would be a massacre. mosley isn’t faster than pac or PBF…but he’s still faster than hatton and he’s almost definitely stronger imo. hatton needs to just go back england and beat up on some scrubs and call it a career.
and the p4p title means more now bcuz the sanctioning bodies are getting more and more ridiculous with the shit they pull to make their champions fight, like refusing to have their belts unified, shitty mandatories, etc… it’s not even economically worth maintaining a belt once you have a name.
Ha, I wonder if Hatton could even beat Zab Judah if that were the case.
If Judah didn’t fucking have glass jaw, and wasn’t mentally retarded he’s be hard to stop
Mayweather/Marquez press conference was outside Central Library in L.A. today.
Roger Mayweather is awesomely trifling. Combine that with Mexicans heckling him and you got laffs for days
Hated the programmed speech Floyd gave. Man he could’ve taunted de la Hoya like he did The Big Show or something.
ticket info. mayweather vs. marquez
a bit more expensive then I thought it would be. Still going, though.
i’m expecting a very good fight. Marquez will find a way to be competitive, even though Mayweather beats him in every stats category.
May 30 - Andre Berto vs. Juan Urango. another good test for Berto. If he gets passed Urgano, which he is a heavy favorite, another good match-up would be the winner of the Isaac Hlatshwayo vs. Delvin Rodriguez bout.
Saw the Ward bout the other night, was interested in seeing what the hype was after sam sheridan was talking him up in his book A Fighter’s Heart, I honestly wasn’t too impressed, and I think Miranda could’ve given him a harder time if he had actually attempted to cut the ring off and stop doing that fucking “you ain’t hurt me” showboating.
didn’t see the press conference, but JMM is HOF status and older than PBF, taunting him has no benefit. you only look like an asshole taunting a guy that’s 35, moving up 2 weightclasses and you’re heavy favorite to win. in the DLH, hatton and gatti fights people (not experts) were supremely confident that their fighters were gonna handle PBF so it made sense for him to play up hate and vililfy himself to sell tickets.
Mayweather vs. Marquez press conference

if anyone thinks Floyd is overlooking Marquez is a damn fool.
Andre Ward showed promise. some good tests for Ward: Sakio Bika, Allan Green, Librado Andrade. I hate to put Jermain Taylor’s name in here because he does not deserve to be anyone’s stepping stone.

Best Video Ever!!! Sorry if repost. :wgrin:
had to go to Ring Magazine online to read the original source.
http://www.ringtv.com/blog/682/marquezs_disadvantages_are_increasing/
if that’s the case, then you can throw out “mayweather struggling to make weight” advantage for Marquez. And that was Marquez’es biggest/ “only” advantage he had over Floyd.
If this article is true, I don’t think Marquez is going to the 147 limit. That is too much mass to put on and lose his speed, which he’ll need against Mayweather.
he better win this one or he’ll lose all his credibility in just one fight.
So you’re saying his uncle going to get his boxing equipment, put gasoline on it and throw it in the trash because he won’t need it anymore if he loses?
