Boulder Punching 101 - Chris Redfield Thread The Director's cut

I’m not sure about you or anyone else but the main hit that I have issues connecting after :qcb::l: is the :h: that triggers the wallbounce. I find that for that, the easiest thing to do is check for a visual cue and hit :h: immediately after you see the :m: hit connect. The same can be said for the :l: and :m: hits in the chain.

It works for me, so it might for you if you give it a try.

2 quick questions, can you call assists while prone? And does HSF hit chris in his prone state? Please give me a yes and no in that order cause that would be a little awesome.

Yes and yes.

Well 1 outta 2 ain’t bad I guess, besides you should be able to jump out on reaction anyway so its all good.

air magnum is superior since there is less recovery but ground magnum is fine too. just know when you can do it without getting punished. Also a good idea to cover yourself with nades, mines and flamethrower

Thank you… thank you so much.

More chris gameplay LqKSuUD65FM&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL]YouTube - The Break Weekly #96 - FR - [FYC Im glad we are finally seeing what he is capable of.

Is Chris’ level 3 the only one that doesn’t lead to some sort of auto-combo or a grab? If so, I think this makes Chris unique in that he can hit assists with his level 3, taking them out instantly. It might be worth it to look for some good DHC options for it.

Probably, but it’s the only LV3 that brings the pain, so no biggie.

Off the top of my head, chris and zero, but their might be more(ill look into it and get to you). Good point, were it not for the slow nature of his lvl 3 it would be a serious assist killer, especially since chris doesn’t need meter so he can always save up for that lvl 3. Hmmm, word on the street is his lvl 3 has invincibility so there are probably some situations where u can use it to kill of an assist.

EDIT: Add arthur to that list and I think that everyone.

@Break Video: Awesome. I guess I’m just behind, but I didn’t know you could do OTG air magnum into shock stick. Cool stuff.

Did people like… figure out some secret with Chris recently or something? Like everyone I’ve played against on XBL today has had a Chris on their team.

Hey guys new to the versus series and also new to the chris thread. I want to get better with him. My team currently is Chris,Iron man, Wesker I have an ok time doing basic combos but I suck at his air magnum to make the opponent bounce. How soon do you guys start attacking after you launch do you wait till your at full height or just the second after you launch your opponent? And secondly I cannot for the life of me continue a combo with chris or wesker after I otg the opponent air recovers too quickly or nothing comes out. What am I doing wrong here? Any suggestions would be great. I am going to just be playing this game this year and devote all my time to it so hopefully I can get even half as good as some of you. Your help would be appreciated greatly.

When I land my launcher I usually begin attacking right away. I go for M, M, H, Magnum right after the launcher. To get the magnum to hit, you have to be fairly even in terms of height (opponent can be slightly lower) when the magnum fires. If you want to be simpler M,H, Magnum is good and may sometimes be more reliable.

After that, you can simply just launch them again once you land.

Yeah M,H Magnum is easier to connect and more reliable, I rarely ever Get M,M,H, Magnum to connect.

Thank you. Been trying this method and I am getting a much better success rate. Now for the second part how in the world do I time my attacks after a df.h or weskers otg assist? Do I have to wave dash then start attacking?

Been playing some player matches. Having trouble landing cr M , H, frw H, and S. The S is always too far away to connect. Pretty annoying. Liking chris keepaway so far. I’m spamming landmine and air magnum. Most characters have a hard time getting in. Haggar is the truth btw. Level 3 x factor pipe to bnb is devastating to say the least.

in the first chris combo after he knocks tron back to the ground how is he coming down shooting his sub machine gun ive been trying to do it in training mode for a while but it seems after i knock them back down there is a moment chris cant do anything till he is back on screen.

I feel like an idiot having underestimated this character so much. It’s even worse since I’ve had him on my primary team since day one. Once you get the concept of his keepaway down, Chris is actually pretty beast and a monster in X-Factor.

He’s easily the most threatening character I have on my team at the moment. I need to work on my Viewtiful Joe and Amaterasu more.

Still tinkering around in training mode. It’s unreal how high chris’s damage is without hyper and x factor. I’m really considering dropping wesker. I’m not very good with his teleports mindgame shit. Might just put a meter burner on my team. Any suggestions. Not phoenix. Jean Grey is a bitch and Cyclops deserves better.

I run storm as my meter burner, although I am yet to find any of her assists that really help chris out. Try dante and maybe run him in perpetual devil trigger(was one of my original team ideas but i don’t have the time to learn dante, then learn devil trigger dante). Or you could try akuma, he can do some serious damage with bar, and I think his dragon punch will probably DHC into sweep combo. You could stick spencer in their and destroy their assist anytime they call one out, or you could go with tron bonne, she can kill most of the cast with just 2 meters plus I think her flamethrower assist might really help our boy out. I think viper might also benefit from a lot of meter what with all her ex moves and shit.

Thats all I could think of, hope I helped in some way.

On the flip side, you guys think you could give me some tips on chriss keep away? How am I supposed to be playing him? I tried to play him like SF 4 sagat with the projectile spam, call AAA when they jump, plant mine but that didn’t really work out as I expected since his guns have so much start up. Im guessing I need to perform more super jump guns and shit, but if y’all could just give me a quick run down of how you run gameplan it would be greatly appreciated.
