Ok so, they’re going in on the city right now. The gunman got caught up in Cambridge, and ended up killing an MIT (Mass institute of technology) officer and hurting a transit officer. They carjacked someone an hour later and drove to Watertown, which is like a half hour away from Cambridge (They dropped off the dude they carjacked at some random gas station, though). Police get notified and catchup to them. A firefight ensues. They have RIFLES AND MORE EXPLOSIVES. One of the bombers gets shot up and taken to Beth Isreal hospital, but he died in the hospital. The other guy is on the run in Watertown, which the police have on lockdown right now. Shut down ALL public transportation in the city and all the roads in Somerville and all the surrounding areas so he can’t get away on the road/train. So there’s a massive manhunt going on right now…

No, if everybody had guns the guy that got carjacked would have shot them, or the people in the town they were causing havoc in could have shot them as well. Everyone should have a gun at all times.
As far as their identities this is the best outcome. From the beginning it seemed a bit too amateurish to be the work of some experienced terrorist cell. Now we wont have to hear people demand retribution, and other bullshit like that.
That remains to be seen. They’re alleged to have paramilitary training and there are some connections between Chechnya and al Qaeda. Unless they get this second guy alive, this will all be unclear for quite some time.
If that is true, it would be a lot harder to make the other guy talk as usually they are trained to resist interrogations.

Updates: They have been living here much longer than previously thought. At least one of the brothers graduated from Cambridge Rindge and Latin high school. A girl was interviewed saying she knew one of the brothers since eighth grade.
Right now according to the police scanner 20 officers stormed an area and a reporter claims to have smelled smoke. Friend who’s been listening to it says that it may be in response to them finding the other suspect who has a bomb strapped to his chest. They’ve been calling for SWAT and bomb experts since I tuned in, so this may be it.
Edit: Seems like it wasn’t a positive ID though they’re still camped out in one particular area.
