Bob Combos from Tekken Zaibatsu

Bob is a fairly easy character to pick up if you are new to Tekken. Tekken 6 is my first Tekken game and he is the character that everyone said was n00b friendly. He has a lot of really fast and safe moves, basic inputs, and easy juggles. Learning Bob will get you familiar with all the things you need to know in Tekken (i.e. juggles, whiff punishing, block punishing, poking, oki) In the right hands Bob is considered top tier in T6.

Good pokes to use:
d1 - Karate chop to the ground. Use this all day long. Hits mid and is safe on block.
1,1 or 1,2 - A couple quick jabs to feel the opponent out at close range.
2,1 - Good for block punishing and applying up-close pressure.
b2,2 - Quick mid/high. Used in wall combos too.
d2,1 - Quick mid/mid pokes.
df1 - Quick mid gut punch. Safe on block.
df2 - Good whiff punish if close enough. Launches on counter hit.
db3 - Bob’s best standing low poke. Kind of slow though.
f2,3 - Probably best block punish for moves with a lot of recovery. The f2 part extends pretty far, some people don’t see it coming.
f4 - Kinda slow kick but is Bob’s best tracking move (i.e. hits side-steppers).

|| Combos ||
Bob’s basic combos after launch (i.e. df2, uf3, WS2,1):
2, 2, 2, uf1+2,1, dash forward, ff3, b1+2 (use b1+2,1,2 for Okizeme)

d2,3, 2, uf1+2,1, dash forward, ff3, b1+2 (use b1+2,1,2 for Okizeme)

Generally you can get people to start blocking low by using Bob’s “hellsweep” which is f,n,d,df+4,1+2 (basically a DP motion that requires you go to neutral in between forward and down). You don’t have to finish the whole command either, leaving out the 1+2 will just do the sweep and not the punch that knocks them down. This move comes out fairly quickly, but if you use it too predictably it becomes low-parry bait. Other great lows you can use are db3 and db4. Once you have them in the habit of crouching in anticipation of the hellsweep (or attempting a low parry), mix it up with mid hitting launchers or bounding moves.

Here’s a couple vids of a Korean Bob players. I recommend everyone subscribe to koreanTAKKENvids.

There’s more on that channel that I can post as I look through it.

the TZ threads are for 6.0

Bob still seems pretty stupid in BR. Not as stupid as in 6.0 but still…
What does he lack as a character since he seems to have everything one should ask for?

He’s still very good in BR. They tweaked a few things but he is still very fast and his moves are very easy to use. He’s definitely top tier.

Bobs tweaks in BR make him less noob-friendly. His d/f+2 basic uppercut used to juggle on normal hit, now it needs a counter hit. Plus, he lost the combos after f,n,d,d/f+4 but gets a canned follow-up (1+2). Really, he’s fun to use and great for learning about the systems of the game. He and Ganryu are my mains for now, at least until console.

Basically f,n,d,d/f+4,1+2 became his Hellsweep tool…at least that is what I use it for. Throw it in there to make them start blocking low.
I would say that Bob is still very n00b friendly though, at least for the type of n00b that wants to learn the basics of the Tekken game system.
Bob will teach you all about launching/juggling, whiff punishing, block punishing, spacing, etc. You can’t really just mash to victory with him but his move inputs are really easy
and the animations are really obvious…that’s what I found appealing about Bob as a n00b.

Bob players, whats good after a low parry? I usually do d/f+1, 2, d+2,1,2 to try to wall carry, but on endless stages, what is good for damage?

One match of me, feedback would be appreciated:

Kudos to title of the thread.
Great Movie.

but I hate Bob… = /

I enjoy using Bob, he’s a powerhouse.

I don’t know about Bob being noob friendly, even I had trouble figuring his stuff out when I first played him.

How do you perform that move on 1:41?

that move is his “hell-sweep” type move: f,n,d,d/f+4,1+2

Sweet, I thought it was done by doing db+4 followed by 1 or 2 since the sweep looked similar.

Thanks I’ll definitely try that out

2:40 XDXD

went to the arcade today and played bob for a bit against the CPU, pretty fun. didn’t know what I was doing outside of a juggle I looked up before leaving, lol. I kept messing up after the bound, when I dash in and use d/f+2 I get his uppercut move, I should try out the ff3 you mention in this thread instead

Nothing beats Bob’s bread and butter juggle. Timing is required because you need to hit df+2 on a counter:

or, you can use this one. I throw in the d+2 because its awesome

bump this thread.

Thanks for the info. Made it easier for a Tekken nooby like me. I was overwhelmed when I was looking at the TZ topics.

Bob’s been pretty good for me so far. I still miss a lot of juggles though. Liking Tekken so far but I still prefer SF.

Just wanted to bump the thread again, and toss out some anti-Lili info…

Against Lili’s df3+4,3+4 (two flips that leave her BT), block the first, then hit 4 - literally Bob’s basic standing 4. The 4 stuffs the 2nd flip completely and safely, and you can juggle:

4 (to interrupt the flip), then df1, b41 B!, ff3, d23.

And if Lili is BT, Bob’s db3+4 (first hit only) has the same effect as Law’s BT d3 (flips them in the air), and you can pick them up with d434.

The problem is that df+3+4 is a juggle starter so Lilis don’t use the 2nd 3+4 but wait for a hit confirm and do a backturned fc+1 to start the juggle.

Well, there’s nothing you can if it connects… if you block it, she’s -3, so FC1 or a fast SS move should stop most/all her options.

(Yes, I’m grasping for straws. Lili’s the only character I have trouble against for some reason. It’s got to be the legs.)

At close range u/f+3 hits her out of her d/b+4 sweep and doesn’t miss. :3

Tips vs Dragunov?

I tried that. It’s not reliable. There are certain points during db4’s animation wherein she drops super low, and I’ve had uf3 and uf1+2 fly over her, leaving me BT at her back.

I haven’t got to Drag yet unfortunately. I’m compiling a list of “[Bob move] can crush ____ move”. I’ll post it once I’m done. :wgrin:
