Bloody High Claw or Splendid Claw?

Bloody High Claw is officially Fucking Garbage…

AT west coast warzone this past weekend my buddy played this dude and landed the ultra in the corner…

The initial Hit Connected… and the rest of the follow up ultra WHIFFED!!!

this crap usually happens when first hit, hits as an anti air… this hit was Grounded!!!

Fuckin Failed ultra…

I like BHC when I play online cause a good portion of the people online like to jump a lot, and I just feel more comfortable with that (especially against fireball characters besides Guile). As far as Ultra 2, I’m a huge scrub and can’t do CH->U2 so that’s out of the picture for me, and I haven’t played in a tournament or anything.

The biggest downside to U1 is like splurgendii said, if it hits on the way up while your opponent is in the air, you get screwed. Or you can be a gigantic tard like me and get it stuffed before it even hits the wall by a jab or some shit, while I have yet to see U2 get stuffed by anything stupid besides activating on a fireball way too early.

U1 is not, I just got EX DP’ed out of it.
GG2EZ :frowning:

First off, I think Vega has the two best looking ultras in the game, aside from Juri’s ultra 2. I use to be a die hard BHC user until I tried Splendid one day after 1,000 times of getting jabbed out of BHC, and basically havent looked back. I will use BHC for these matches though:
T.Hawk
Gief
Gouken
Hakan
Dhalsim
Vega mirror
SC sort of replaces the scarlet terror they stole from us, even if it is only usable once a round. I will say though I have NEVER caught Abel with SC on a jump in. Never.

SC is better for gief and hakan matchups

If Gief drops you I agree. You’ll wish you had picked SC as he flies over your body, spread eagle, to cross you up. But if you have your keep away game down, BHC is the way to go. Some of the more inexperienced Giefs will lariat on a whiffed FBA, leaving you free to shred them to pieces, even with FBA’s ridiculous recovery. I dont usually try to hit Gief on the way up though, I opt for the safer, off the opposite wall route.

it’s not invulnerable but not much beats it.

SC is most usefull because it can punish gief’s EX GH FADC backdash, it also beats lariat straight up.
U1 is the better pick if you expect full screen lariats lots of non point blank jumping and people that dont FADC GH

and yeah that’s usually how i try to hit

U1 if you have eye of the tiger (reaction), U2 if you don’t

I have also had great success with BHC against Oni players

I play ultra 1 most and i usualy go for the opponents wall. I find it to be a lot safer since the SC ultra freeze warns opponents and has a long recovery. The BHC has a long freeze but i usualy use it to punish sloppy crossups or to connect as a cross up. If it wiffs while attempting crossup you’re usually safe. Also if youre a noob who likes to mash ultra, once you use the opponent wall its much safer than SC.

The only real advantage of Sc i find is its ability to connect after focus back dash. I always focus into back dash but sometimes the BHC wiffs on its way up.

I use U1 because it fits my style of play and I have already invented and worked on so many mix ups and strategies to hit the ultra on any character ever since I first picked up this game (Speaking of which I may share them with you all once I feel I have found enough).

No reason to go with U2 for me.

I’ve always thought that BHC should also incorporate the grab part of the Rolling Izuna Drop super. Kinda like how Gen, Blanka and Oni have choices on how to use their ultras so you can’t just sit and block mindlessly. Ultra flash and people block…imagine if you do the RID version and instead of flying straight at them you fly over and grab. It would totally be beatable by good reaction but it would be SOOO good!

I am thinking of making a thread (or just post here) about the BHC and when to input it against each and every character along with the percentage of reliability for each mix up against all characters.Sometimes it can even be 100% reliable, especially by comboing j.Hp or Hk > U1. Also, you must consider a smart risk against your opponent’s pattern when playing. Hence you must first discover and search what your opponent might do next. I will also post every possible range after reset where U1 can connect along with baiting tactics.

Here’s one little preview: Corpse hop > KKK Flip > U1 towards (60-70% reliable, depends on how opponent plays wake up)

I posted a video in the “Analyze your Vega” thread and you can see me land a U1 on C. Viper. Did I guess? Not really. It was actually a smart risk I took because most C Vipers would super jump towards when wiffing a long range attack, hence why I input it towards her so I can jump under her and let her descend in the Ultra’s path. In fact, this works on almost anyone. You can U1 under any character and expect it to connect. So it does require knowing what the opponent will do based on match up experience and when this opponent will jump in when knocked down. A late jump in would be lethal for your opponent. Another example I can think of is Ryu’s combos being blocked that end with hadouken. Again, you must consider other characters and know their combos and prefered way to play. And Zangief…Don’t get me started. XD

However, it does require a special kind of read and reaction at a mid-far range. I can see why people would simply just go with U2.

Splendid Claw is Splendid BHC has no blood

i go with the Splendid claw

Nah…They both have rose buds.

If you squint hard enough you could imagine it being choppy animated blood lol

Can’t wait

Definately Splendid Claw, as it’s Vega’s only answer to relentless rushdown.

BHC, its has more applications, easier to land, and guranteed to land once per round. That same set up having 4 ways to land.
