Bloody High Claw or Splendid Claw?

Ok guys in your opinion: Over/under for matchups we use U1 in.

I think that BHC is way too underrated. It is great against Blanka, one of Vega’s worst match ups. It beats a Blanka ball, his U2, and some other stuff.
I think it is valuable, and Vega’s ultras should be decided by match up.

Both have their uses. U2 is good, but if they block, your done for. U1 is usually a little safer on block or whiff.

They should just mix both and call it Bloody Splendid Claw (BSC). The first frame is a low hit, once vega is in the air it is an overhead and he has invincibility all the way to the wall. On his way up he throws off is mask so he can do more damage then catch it on the way down when all the flowers are falling. They also have to let it combo out of ST>FADC, df+HK, df+MK and cr.MP. And if it gets blocked he automatically does a random amount of backflips, building EX meter until it is safe to land again. Whadda ya guys think?

Both have their uses, but SC much more so. I tried to be oldschool and stick with BHC for a while, mainly because a) it looks awesome and b) it hits on the way up and I tried throwing people off with that. SC is just more reliable, plus it’s easier to input.

I use BHC in tournaments. I don’t want to lose games because I get baited by an empty jump, or do it a frame late to punish a sweep or w/e because the motion’s easy.

Let’s just give him his own version of the Abel II ultra. Quick as fuck, punishes everything, cancelable, safe as fuck, does waaay too damage.

abel U2 is BS i was winning these abel player in a miniature online tournament and his caught with the ultra 2 of 4 times i came 3rd because of the ultra.

That ultra is so retarded. I always had a hard time with Abel, but that U2 makes it absolutely ridiculous. Beyond stupid. The developers should have made it like El Fuerte’s as in once it activates you have to immediately launch. None of this holding the move in place BS and then letting go when the opportune moment presents itself or just not going if you read wrong.

Meh, i don’t care too much about breathless. If you are right nex to him, jump over him. If not, wall dive behind him.

u\its not that simple. good abel’s will activiate it where you think you can jump over it and make you land on it. If you wall dive he cancels and you get hit.

then dont throw it out. learn to read jump ins. limiting yourself/options because you fall for the bait game is not a very good thing. besides you get punished hard for whiffing BHC, good players will always punish for doing that its not safe.

Yeah… I understand the benifits of SC but i’ve reduced it’s use to just vs chun and hakan. BHC is safer for me because I know i cant hit the jump in anyway safe jump or not. so i know to block. and i believe in my blocking skills more than SC’s reliability

If they are going to do an empty jump because they are scared of SC, then let them. Use that ST to mess them up and gain the advantage. The fact that they have to guess to empty jump or not cause of SC makes it useful in and of itself. Also Catching someone from up high with CH can get you a free ultra as well which is nice when it happens. (catch a whiffed SRK move in the air.)

BHC is flexible and trumps people who throw fireballs. Anyone who bothers to master the crossup aspect of U1 will make it work wonders I imagine. Unfortunately, it can be stuffed before the flash and the other player probably won’t even realize it. Haven’t tested out its air counter potential with the knee to slashes but if you jump off your wall the ultra is virtually instantaneous.

SC picks up where BHC fails. It’s easier to pull off and can be done on wakeup and can probably punish a lot of other attacks. The chip damage on the kick is pretty sick too if I remember correctly. I still stick with BHC because it’s a lot funner to land.

I am having positive results with BHC lately, even against decent players. SC almost always wiffs for me, if only it had faster start up time.

It’s true Vega has a difficult time on wakeup ESPECIALLY in the corner so Splendid claw is nice to use but if it gets blocked then you’re still going back into the corner. If you do Bloody High Claw out you’ll go back towards the corner and probably get thrown back in there who knows. U2 has better priority but U1 has a lot more flexibility. So maybe we should focus on when we can hit people with the ultras?

U1
FAST, can punish jabs from a distance seriously.
Invulnerable after off the wall. This includes against Siberian Blizzard and Oil Combination Hold
Can be used in various wakeup crossups (after neutral or back throw or izuna drop and probably even after air throw)
Can cross up on crouching and standing depending on the situation and range.
Can’t be jumped, way too fast
Can be a viable air counter

U2
Can be comboed off of that df+hk from the proper distance
Fireball/initial invulnerability
Good chip
Air counter (really needed)

I still stick with U1 because it feels great when you land that one.
