OoE is probably the best metroidvania outside of SotN and Aria, but the characters in that game weren’t as compelling to me so I only beat it once before I sold my DS. I think if it had had a Richter or Simon mode it would have been my favorite barring symphony though, cuz it IS a pretty great game.
Dawn of Sorrow is a game I liked at first, but then less and less the more I played it, though the sorrow games are among my least favorite in the series.
PoR is definitely a step up from Dawn and it’s probably the most fun of the metroidvanias (again, barring Symphony) at least it was for me. I wish they’d made more of the partner mechanic because it was a really great idea.
My favorite part of Zangetsu mode so far is the boss fights. I love figuring out how to handle a boss tactically rather than having to rely on healing items if I can help it and Zangetsu mode is really good for that. Im hoping you’ll be able to play Boss Rush with him.

I thought Order of Ecclesia had some extra modes. Maybe it was boss rush mode?
It had Albus mode, but I would have loved a Belmont as an alternate character too. OoE is the only CV game to not have a Belmont in it (outside of the townsfolk who are Belmont relatives.)

I had the most fun with PoR as well, particularly playing with only whips. OoE had the best art style and most mature feel to it of the SotN style ones, and I also agree that the dawn games were the weakest (well, barring Harmony of Dissonance, which was a way too easy mess)- too grindy. Still good, but I think they’re generally held too high vs the others. One big knock on GBA/DS games is the stupid fucking fun house stages in a few of them. I hate the music, and they’re generally lame.

One of the things I liked most about PoR was one of the things I like about Bloodstained and that is the large variety of weapons you have at your disposal, particularly for Johnathan. I never got bored of the weapons in that game.
I have all the gba/ds CV’s other than COTM
I used to have them all, even the Classic NES Castlevania for GBA, but I sold them all
New promo art for rondo? Did I miss some news?

Anyone playing the update? Finally a full color wheel customization! Playing as the bosses is fun, too.
Also, there seems to be new items (head armor and scarves). And a new shard? I finally decided to find all items for the platinum and they add these–cant believe this changes the trophy requirements. Had I decided to do this two days ago, I’d already have the platinum. Can’t find info on them. Maybe something to do with the extra modes

Huh, are you sure that shard isn’t the 8-Bit Ghost or Zombie shard?
New shards and items would be pretty cool though.

Checked other forums, and others are experiencing the same thing. They don’t know either, but they’re suspecting it’s a glitch, considering the other problems in the update as mentioned by Aries. They completed boss revenge and didn’t get anything, either.

Man i fucking hate Zangetsu’s boss fights. Im sorry but his sword range is bullshit especially after he powers it up.

I had good luck jumping behind him and attacking from there because a lot of his stuff, even the aoe moves, hit more in front and he has significant cooldown on his heavy slashes.
Speaking of Zangetsu, I finally got to Dominique the other night but I’m only level 45 so I’m getting rekt. I was able to beat her and get to Bael but being in that you have no healing abilities I’m gonna have to learn the fights really well to be able to win. I’ve also been doing some level grinding in the Den Of Behemoths, there’s a room right after the Millionaire Bane boss that has a dragon, a silver werewolf, a couple frogs, and a giant morte that will really make the grinding go quicker.

I’m trying to remember if o even found the Millionair Door. Took me so God damn long to find the Carpenters Key and the key to the door with the Zombie Belmont behind it

Crap I meant whatever that boss is that uses the poker chips. But yeah you don’t really get those keys until later in the game so that makes sense.
I’ve been stuck on the 8-Bit Nightmare too. The enemies in there are pretty strong and then taking on that boss without being able to heal is rough.
