BLOODSTAINED: RITUAL OF THE NIGHT aka the Spiritual successor of Symphony of the Night

It reflects projectiles I think.

That effect being beating the game while walking.

I thought that was what double chrissagrim was for.

Gameplay looking pretty solid so far… although the visuals for me now are looking a bit… flat? It’s hard for me to put into words I guess. Maybe it’s the way the enemies look compared to the rest of the environment? I guess maybe it’s the way they are shaded in relation to the rest of the environment that makes them look a bit out of place. Minor quip; overall the game looks pretty nice so far though.

Yea flat was the thought that popped into my mind as well.

Looks to me like a shader/lighting issue

I rather they get the game play and mechanics solid first over a shader

The game looks great. Can’t wait to play it on Vita.

Last gameplay videos finally convinced me to become a backer and prepurchase my digital copy. Game looks so damn gorgeous and I can’t wait to play another classic Metroidvania made by Iga.

The game looks so mediocre. The main character models look decent but the backgrounds lack a lot. This is a 3+ million game? I hope the music is just a placeholder because I thought part of the high tier milestones was getting live music, and none of what I’ve heard strikes me as “live” sounding.

lol funny that Friday the 13th The Game barely received $1,000,000 in donations and its launch graphics look groundbreaking next generation graphics compared to Bloodstained (which received about $5,000,000),

but to be fair, Bloodstained’s graphics and animations are looking better than Dracula X Chronicles
and for its 2D gameplay genre, the visuals are adequate for the style they are going for and its gonna have the most massive IGAvania castle ever, among other things added. perhaps it’ll get as much bosses like SOTN/NITM received.

I mean, that’s not saying much at all especially considering it had the most janky ass animations possible by PS1 standards and barely maintained 30 fps. Then you had other games like Crisis Core, Peace Walker, Dissidia all smoking the shit out of it visually. But hey, no one bought it for the remixed mode, everyone wanted the original with the new translations which was where the game actually shined. Unfortunately we had to play through that terrible revisioned mode just to unlock them :frowning:

Anyway, the visuals are ok if this was going to be a PSV game, but the main platform is PC right? It should look a little nicer for a $5 million and why are there still samples being used in the music? Why is this not using a full orchestra or at least some live players? What was the budget for LoS, that had a full blown orchestra so there is no reason they can’t afford to use one for BS.

LOL @ the butthurt fanboys downvoting anything not praising Iga’s OoE rip off.

They probably just haven’t recorded the music yet.

Dude I really hope so. Yamane’s music deserves to shine with live players. Sadly I think the music we’re hearing is final, because that’s how her music has sounded in Castlevania games for a long time now. It sounds too produced to be placeholders, but you never know.

How can Iga be ripping off his own work?
