BLOODSTAINED: RITUAL OF THE NIGHT aka the Spiritual successor of Symphony of the Night

So how are fellow Castlevania fans treating people that liked the PS2 era 3D Castlevania games? I’ve enjoyed Lament of Innosence and done 2 playthroughs of it, been considering doing a Joachim playthrough as well

Like shit im sure.

I didn’t like the PS2 Castlevania games. They were boring games.

I like LOI but i dont like COD.

LoI felt like castlevania. LoS did not.

I dont see how not. Both are action games with a heavy emphasis on combat. Least LOS has some level design in it, LOIs level design is fucking awful. Its secrets are hidden in places you wont find without a guide…Only thing LOI really has over LOS is no quick time stuff, but LOSs quick time shit is so easy you’d have to be mentally challenged to fail them.

Their combat systems pretty much the same even.

There’s a lot of great homages to the series lore in Lords of Shadow but lot of fans like to ignore it because they can’t see beyond it being God of War.

Lords of Shadow is shit. I don’t care how many homages are in there, the music is shit, the gameplay is derivative and tiresome, the characters are lame, and the “epic” story is dumb as all fuck.

Sir Patrick Stewart was wasted on that garbage.

Both had crap combat, no question.

But The atmosphere of LoS didn’t feel like castlevania nor the characters.

I highly dislike those games, granted I can stomach the first LoS. The second though? Fuck that shit all the way.

^ castelvania pachinko HD would like a word with you…

lololol

Not really, inverted castle is way harder than the regular one. The new enemies brutalize you at the beginning, but you get a lot more exp in return and level up quickly. Even so, Alucard only gets truly OP if you grind exp killing Guardians and farm Crissaegrim (which might be fun to use initially, but it’s so dumb that actually makes the game boring). The difficult is completely up to player in the inverted castle.

I still think SotN is the zenith of metroidvania. It’s just a flawless, timeless game.

How is LOS amosphere worse then LOIs? LOI is a bunch of square rooms with really REALLY shitty texture work done on them and then copy pasted through the enviromemt for that area.

I actually think the combat in both is fine. Id give the edge to LOI because i like its bosses better generally.

Atmosphere isn’t graphics or textures lol.

LoS never felt like castlevania while I played it. It felt like it wanted to be something else and got castlevania title slapped on it.

Other than puzzles and narration(not the story itself) I feel like LoS is hands down the worst of the castlevania series.

I may just be salty…

Graphics and textures are a huge part of delivering atmosphere. The visual presentation is a very large part of what delivers atmosphere along with sound. LOIs graphical presentation is dog shit and its atmosphere sufferes considerably for it.

Got the fuck out here with that shit. You gonna sit there and tell me that LoS is worst than Simon’s Quest and Judgment?

At least Judgment and Simon’s Quest have fucking Castlevania music in them.

Castlevania The Adventure is pretty ass tier to.

And at least that game has jumping and whipping in tight platformer stages.

Who needs jumping when you can use the whip to swing on platforms.

Tight platformer stages? Are you high? There is nothing tight about CV Adventures, its fucking awful. Mushy and unresponsive is more like it. Step away from you bias for a minute would you please?.
