BLOODSTAINED: RITUAL OF THE NIGHT aka the Spiritual successor of Symphony of the Night

When you are rewriting the code using a fucking ps2 controller in the span of half a minute nobody gets to talk shit.

Also Kogi might as well make shield dashing the main form of movement lol.

That’s how I generally feel, I have absolutely no interest in a speed run that involved skipping the whole game and getting right to the end. I’m not gonna say it’s not a speed run, but I am gonna say that I have no interest in such a thing. I’m far more interested in glitches that help optimize a run like Mach Balling in Super Metroid, and seeing super refined runs and pathing.

I am more interested in seeing how people even figure shit like that out…like seriously wtf man?

Tool Assisted Speedrunners. Most legit speed runners will work with TAS’ers so they can see the game frame by frame to see inconsistencies in coding, timings for certain jumps or skill usage until they learn how to do this tricks and glitches on their own (though some are impossible to do by human hands).

I wonder though if that kind of arbitrary code execution would be possible in the new game. Alot of that is usually because of the tricks that developers used to do to get games to fit in limited amounts of memory (2MB for the PSX), with alot of direct to metal work done with low level code. With engines like UE4, alot of stuff is now done through high level code and middleware with more memory so it’s probably easier to prevent the kind of memory manipulation used to do arbitrary code execution seen in many older game’s speedruns.

EDIT: Speaking of which, Cosmo’s run has already been beaten by someone who found a new type of arbitrary code execution.

I wonder if shenanigans like this will be possible in the new game.

Hahaha yea I can agree with that. The one where you have items in a certain order tricking the game into reading them as a hex editor and boots you right to the last boss. Shits hilariously wack. Edit: Just finished watching the video (Had it paused) and saw the guy did what I just described. I’ve never seen it done to dump you directly to the ending. I’ve only seen it done to get right to Dracula.

A really simple trick you can use with the Murasame @angelpalm is if you soft reset on an account that as the Murasame equipped it will store the weapons lvl in the systems ram so you can load a new save and it will load with that Murasames stats into the new save. Instant max Murasame if have one lol.

Hrm, probably can’t do it on the xbox live version lol.

Yea I believe it only works on the PSX version of the game, so you can’t do it in the XBLA, or PSP versions. I could be wrong tho.

I just watched a video recently of Romscout doing this hex editor shit in front of the man Igarashi himself lol.

I could test it out, so I have to soft reset a game with the murasame equipped and then start a whole new game from the beginning? Then when I get the murasame it will have the other games stats? I imagine it has to be done without exiting the game?

I just looked it up. It only works in the PSX version sadly. Here’s how it works.

In the original PlayStation version, using a soft reset will result in the console retaining the Muramasa’s current level in its RAM; if another game file is loaded in which the player has a Muramasa, the level will be passed to that game. Saving the game will permanently set that game’s Muramasa to the new ATK value.

So what you want to do is have two files where you have Muramasas. One with it maxed (Or whatever level you’re happy with) and one where you want to change the swords level. You equip the sword on the high level account, soft reset, and load the one you want to transfer the stat to. It will load the cached stat from memory onto the new sword. Saving will make it permanent.

I remember fucking around with this game so much back in the day. This is the first time I’ve played it again in like 10 years so a lot of this is kind of fuzzy memory these days.

So that’s Symphony of the Night down. Suck it Dracula. ā€œTrouble the soul of my mother no more!!!ā€

Now I can focus on Order of Ecclesia.

Wait a minute, I though Romscout did the any% run for him, where he uses glitches to get through the normal and upside down castle as fast as possible. I don’t remember him doing any arbitrary code in the run.

Or you can be Carl Sagan and do it fucking all. Dude is a beast.

Donated $60. I want that vita version.

The only thing you get more with $60 over $28 (not counting physical release) is a special boss and the swordwhip. God knows they’ll be DLC.

Quick update: In order to reach the final stretch goal of a Roguelike Dungeon mode at 5 million the kickstarter needs to raise approximately <$70k in the last 11 hours and despite the tight time limit it looks like it’s on track to achieving that.

siliconera interview with Iga. More insight on Miriam’s life.

5million goal hit with the 180k+ from paypal

You have been so overzealous in your pursuit of stretch goals that you’re now poised to take revenge… on our dauntless heroes. At $5.5 million you have the opportunity to unlock Boss Revenge Mode:

Control several different bosses
Utilize their special attacks to wreak havok
Explore a new BOSS REVENGE area
Turn the tables and defeat ā€œHeroā€ Bosses in your pursuit of humanity’s destruction
Can you do it? It may depend on how quickly you can recruit new members into your army.

Even though the top tier was 50, you’ve managed to get 59 achievements, so Inti Creates has an incentive to offer you for 60:

The Pure Costume will be a new outfit for Miriam which provides a glimpse into her life before the magi-crystal curse consumed her.

Iga is doing a live stream the last few hours of the Kickstarter which i believe starts at 4pm pst 7pm est at

Didn’t expect to get to 5mil. Looks like its around 5.2mil right now. Might hit dat basement stretch…

jesus so they are just tacking on a rougelike aspect too?

I’m all for that I love rougelikes but these stretch goals always make me wary as fuck. I kinda wish people would just make the game they planned on in the first place.

Granted this team is probably big and experienced enough to handle all of it, but like… it always seems like the more money, more expectation and a huge increase to the wait time for the game to come out.
