can i just take this opportunity to state that i have always found the souls community’s vitriol for healing and the way they form no healing fight clubs to be… frankly very fraudulent. like i would constantly see video’s from DS where a guy would invade a random person, try to gank said random person, and then get pissed when they (the host) try to survive. like if it’s a duel area that’s one thing, but when your invading a host don’t expect them to just be a good sport and die easily.
All the talk of no healing in these games is scrub bullshit from people who suck and don’t prepare properly to invade others.
Yes I know, but not everyone in Souls has been in a fight club before, or a tournament. There is no heal allowed, if you heal, everyone there will add you to the block list, and then gank you. Also most glitches are banned, like dark souls 1 had move swaps which were banned. Making a giant club move like a gold tracer which is funny, but also broken. And glitch with stone great sword, were you would roll and make it cast walk of peace was also banned. Walk of peace was a problem also since there was nothing that could counter it. You would just eat dark magic

I see healing as a standard that’s usually set between the guy I’m invading, if they want a fair duel between us with no heals I’m game. If they back up and heal I’m game. I usually just roll with whatever the host is doing, no healing was a majority community set standard in Dark Souls but I haven’t played enough of Bloodborne to know how the meta is going right now; games kinda boring.

When it comes to the subject of Bloodborne PVP , there is alot to see and alot to learn if you really put some time into it.
Just because you think that you have “seen it all” and because you feel like you do really well with a saw cleaver doesn’t make
the game boring or less exciting. If you are saying the singleplayer experience of BB is boring then i would call you retarded.

Here are some things that you probably didn’t know about BB peeveepee
- You can temporarily aggro monsters towards invading red phantoms by stabbing the monster with a shaman bone blade (similar to the DS2 tree seed)
- You can deflect bullets with R1 swings (i found this out not too long ago)
- You can deal significantly increased damage by attacking your opponent while opponent is in attack animation (counters)
- You can use blue elixirs to cover/hide a ash-marrow’d-bullet
There is probably much more just waiting to be discovered in terms of what tech and what you can do.
I did not know that about the Blue Elixers. That makes me want to carry them for invaders on my Blood Tinge build.
Played first time enjoyed it, played second time was alright, played third time felt repetitive, fourth time I’d nearly covered all of the build options.
PvP doesn’t have enough deviation for me to care a bunch about it, I’d rather just go back and play Dark Souls 1 PvP.
That would be my biggest complaint with Bloodborne. Build variety is lacking. I have like 7 bulds in DS1 and still feel like there’s fresh shit to try. I have 3 builds in Bloodborne and feel kind of tapped out in that department.
What I have my fingers crossed for with the expansion is a large selection of new weapons, like 7 or 8 at the least, and many many more spells. Like…a shit load more spells. The Celestial Spells are, imo, the coolest type of magic the series has ever had. One spell is an exploding star in your hands. That’s fucking dope. I like it so much I’m actually mad I didn’t think of it myself. But there aren’t enough of them, and while the ones we have are cool as fuck (I also love the Tiny Tonitrus quite a bit) not enough of them are actually useful. In fact a good deal of them are kind of…sorta…useless.
So yea President Big M, please give me more weapons and more spells. Make my Arcane State an Arcane Stat instead of a Luck Stat.
Edit: Actually that reminds me. I have no expectation that this will actually happen, but if possible, unbind Item Discovery from Arcane and tie it to Insight with the Expansion please. Humanity was sick, and Insight is an expansion of the concept (In gameplay terms) so there’s no reason not to, it worked so well in Dark Souls, and would work just as well here, if not better because it would incentivize people to hold onto Insight dispite the fact it make the game harder, I’d have reason to think about holding onto Insight going into a high level area like Nightmare of Mensis with the hope of better drops or burning it at the store for an easier time through the area. As it stands it’s a no brainer, there’s no reason to hold onto it so just burn it at the bath and make Mensis easier.
This would also give them a good reason to retune Blood Gem drops and put good ones in the Campaign instead of them all being in the Chalice Dungeons.
Not gonna happen, but a man can dream no?

The thing is… I don’t think there was supposed to be much variety at all considering the amount of trickweapons & spells.
I do remember that they said somewhere that they wanted you to bond with your weapon , which i guess is what they were focusing on.
Instead of giving you variety with builds…They gave you weapons with learning curves.
And that is what i’ve been saying for a long time now…It takes a long time to “master” the weapon of your choice , MUCH longer than you would think (especially for pvp).
Since the name of the game isn’t “Dark Souls” there is no right or wrong to this.
It all comes down to preference and taste. I would be liar if i said that i didn’t want more options in BB though.
At the same time… I feel like they didn’t want PVP to be the bigger part of BB as there isn’t really any dedicated pvp hotspots.
Mensis is the closest you will get to a pvp arena or w/e. Seems to me they wanted to make BB a 10/10 singleplayer game
but with some…erhm… “online connectivity” served on the side.

I agree with you completely, my favorite weapon is still my Saw Cleaver. But that’s why I’m pretty adamant about the expansion having more weapons. The weapons are the key to differing builds in this game, so to make up for the lack of stat builds, it needs a lot more weapons. Spells to.
Yeah, it took me MONTHS to narrow down a build and weapon set I liked in DS1 and I still keep mixing and matching stats and weapons to make some funky shit to go and play with. Bloodborne just lacks in that department and they just cut the fat off. They just gave us one weapon for each build type instead of giving us a ton of shitty ones with a clear victor that is the best, they just gave us the best from the get-go. It’s nice of them to just say “listen, we’ll give you the best no fucking around - AND it’s a two-in-one to boot” but it takes away that fun factor of finding a new weapon and thinking HOLY SHIT, A COOL LOOKING STRENGTH/OTHER SKILL WEAPON! I have one designated weapon for each build and I can’t properly deviate from it, let alone create individual builds that really feel like they’re my own.
That isn’t a critique of the game as much as it is just a change in their formula. I don’t DISLIKE Bloodborne if that’s how it sounds, there just isn’t enough of it to keep me interested. Even the lore is pretty shortwinded too. Dark Souls has hours and hours and story to delve into, Bloodborne just seems to not have enough of itself in all aspects but what it actually has is fantastically well-made. DLC could fix that, but it would have to be damn expansive to please me fully.
The lack of builds is a huge plus to me. none of that is why I play any of the games. The worst part is always grinding for the last material and or trying to plan builds. I’m much happier with 3 characters who can do anything between the 3 of them because I can just focus on the playing. Build variety being too high tends to make PvP more build based too, and that shit is NOT FUN AT ALL. You can’t honestly tell me you like getting or doing hard counters in a match, that shit is just boring.
…hard counters? I enjoy playing more than 3/4 builds yes. I had about 7 on Dark Souls 1 all catered towards totally different SL and style.
If there is a particularly hard time a certain build has against things, say an ultra axe/sword versus the faster weapons of the first I usually relish the challenge, I have to pick my attacks perfectly or risk taking a ton of damage, not to mention needing to utilize rolling and running attacks also.
Stone Axe was by one of my favourites for it’s unique attack, my favourite weapon of DKS1 is the Demon Great Machete, it looked so D O P E.
