Bloodborne thread

Wow, the Giants in the Cathedral Ward no longer aggro after you beat Vicar Amelia. Poor guys don’t even patrol anymore… They just kneel and stare at you, and you can walk right past them. Seems like the first two lantern guys you encounter stop spawning as well.

Where is that thing anyway? Old Yharnam?

You have to beat Vicar Amelia. Go to the Cathedral Ward and make your way through the area after the exit on the left to get to her. After she’s beaten, you get the password to a door that leads to the Forbidden Forest.

You have a few options actually

To get further into Cathedral Ward you need to buy the key item being sold in the shop in the Hunter’s Dream, and from there you can access 2 different bosses

Yup.

Just continue down the path you took to get the Gatling-Bitch’s tower.

Here is a short film that i present to you with pride.
I call it “GasaROCKy”.

There is more too where that came from too !

Took out the Hunter in the Tomb of Oedon… Thought I was gonna get fucked until Eileen showed up lol.

Shit… Ran into one of those bag fuckers and got caught off guard by the enemies I didn’t know were around it. My ass got kidnapped lol. What the hell item do I need to equip Caryll Runes? I have four of the damn things right now.

You need a key item you’ll find in Hemwick. Basically, when you head into the Cathedral Ward area, after buying the key item from the bath shop in the Dream, you’ll take a path all the way up to a boss. JUST before the boss the path splits to the left and right. Go left and finish that area and it’s boss and you’ll finally get the rune tool.

You know what, fuck this bitch.

This Bloodtinge-Skill build ain’t working out, i’m getting worked over by things that I decimated in my strength build.

I’m just going make my Strength build Strength-Bloodtinge.

I need that fucking Katana in my life, damn it.

Just had an awesome session, opened up Hemwick Charnel Lane just a little while ago. This village of witches bitches didn’t stand a chance. I switched to the Top Hat and Threaded Cane when I realized what I was dealing with and proceeded to clear this area like a total pimp. The only threat came in the form of the male enemies (go figure) but they were easily stunned and visceral killed with no problem. Towards the end of the level these bitches were so stupid that one ran through the fire to get at me and lost half her health in the process. Going up the final path the molotov throwing wench lights her own fucking dog on fire by hitting it instead of me. To top off the experience I kill the boss in one try, granted it seemed like an easy fight but after laying waste to these dumb broads and wrecking their entire community I felt oh so satisfied. o:)

knowing the soul series they usually have easily accessible but strong weapons for each build that can be grabbed early.

In DS1, if you wanted a great dex weapon that’ll last you til end game, you could run down and grab the great scythe with prior knowledge which is like a god tier weapon, kill a merchant for a great Katana, or just practically get a estoc easily by walking down the firelink shrine.

You had easily accessible Zweihander/claymores, etc…

Anyways yeah, doing specifc builds without knowledge of where and when you can get specific weapons or if you can make do with early/mid game weapons til then is pretty rough. Mostly when your current weapons don’t really suit you and you’re just hoping to get a mid game weapon for the build to finally click.

Reminds me of the Moonlight greatsword in DeS/DS1, fucking godlike greatsword that was easily one of if not the best greatsword in the game due to that 100% magic damage and those projectiles you can shoot out of it… but the thing was that it came somewhat later in the game and you generally build your character pretty heavily into int due to S scaling. So you had to plan your melee options, picking which to upgrade etc…

However it’s cool when your blind build for your first playthrough just happens to fall into place as soon as you find a new weapon that fits it.

Unfortunatly some are saying the Chikage damage is significantly higher than the Spear in Bloodtinge mode because like NO enemies have great blood def. That’s cool in all but I’m not crazy about losing health to deal more damage.

Especially when the spear has a godlike move pool and hits everything like a beast from safe distances. Killed Amelia last night and gonna make my way through the forest so I’ll get to try it for myself soon enough.

Wish I didnt waste 2 points into str early on with the Blood Axe. That could have went into Skill for the Spear or Bloodtinge for the Sword. Conveinent for me both use mainly the same stats. So either way my first build is still somehow not ruined with minimum studying on this game lol.

Spear one handed and flame spell is pretty OD together against bosses for doing a ton of damage attacking with spear then continuing combo with flame. Any dex users having trouble should try it at least.

I’m at level 45 and I’m still getting facefucked by every enemy there. Managed to explore a good amount of it before warping out of there, though. Found two armor sets and the Executioner’s Gloves, which I haven’t tried yet considering they require 20 arcane and I’m only at 15.

Hunter’s Bone is too sick though, I just wish it lasted longer. Wonder if there’s a way to make it stay active longer.

Went to the bank over the weekend to put in dat tax refund and happened to stroll by GameStop afterwards. Next thing you know, i snagged a PS4, BloodBorne and a Turtle Beach headphones. This game fuckin’ rocks! I feel like I’m traversing one of the towns in Vampire Hunter D.
Progress-wise, finally defeated that poison-hound freak after 10th try last night. With 10% or so HP left, zero bullets; that final hit had me like…

Now i don’t know where to go…old man says go to the Odeal Chapel but the door upstairs is locked though.

@NinetiesArcade
You need to buy the key to get pass the gate. Go to the shop.

I dont understand how any dex / bloodtinge people are having trouble when you can use the Spear or whip until Chikage is available.

And honestly the Spear is all you need so far from what I’ve seen and mine is barely leveled up because I need more twin shards.

This game seems to have quite a few weapon that have awesome movesets of attacks but not the best damage. The weapons with amazing power for that build but with noticable drawbacks like how the Hammer is stronger than Blood Axe because it scales higher with Str. But it’s slow as sin and leaves you open more when you miss to get fucked.

Must be a design of the game.

I have the rifle spear leveled to +8. The damage I’m doing with it at that level is ridiculous. Enemies with high HP fall quick to the high damage being in stunlock.

I think it’s a matter of fully upgrading the weapons, while also building around the ones you know you’re going to use. Most of the weapons I’ve seen have D attribute scaling at best when you first get them, but the scaling becomes better the more you upgrade them. I have my Rifle Spear at +6 (I think?) and the attribute scaling is a little better than it was before. Starting to need Blood Chunks to upgrade this thing now…

In combination with the fact that I’m putting a big focus on Skill and Arcane now, and all of the delicious BloodGems I’ve found (giving me a damage boost of around 85), the damage on the thing is starting to get ridiculous.

Blood-starved BITCH can suck a dick.

I’m beginning to pump points into Arcane. I talked with Gasa about I believe that STR/SKL/STA stats are softed cap at 25. I’m curious how more ridiculous the spear will be with arcane behind it.

I’m boosting up Arcane mostly to use the cool ass “Item Weapons” you find that use QS Bullets. The damage bonus to the Rifle’s shots isn’t a bad side bonus, though.

The Beast Claw, Hunter’s Bone, Executioner’s Glove, and that weird slug item thing are the only Weaponized Items I’ve found so far but I’m gonna need 20 Arcane to use all of them. I’d really like to work all those items into my playstyle, because it doesn’t even feel like I need a gun OR a second weapon with this spear lol.

Just now took the time to actually catch up on the last few pages. I’m glad to see everyone is enjoying the game as throughly as I am. I haven’t found one thing about this game that displeases me and I’ve never been such a willing glutton for punishment. I don’t want to give my full impressions until I’ve beaten the game at least, but as much as I adore and love Dark Souls 1 this game might honestly just be superior in a multitude of ways. I feel weird even saying that considering how many thousands of hours I poured into DaS1, and how it changed the way I view games as a whole, but every design choice I’ve seen in Bloodborne has been nothing short of impeccable.
