Bloodborne thread

I’ve used the Evelyn and the Threaded Cane the whole time. Cane is mai weapon-fu.

I somehow picked up three +21% attack gems. That plus bolt or fire paper pretty much rekts everything.

For a pure skill build, Blade of Mercy is one of the best options. The Saw Spear might work for you too. It’s a solid weapon that is really easy to get. If you plan on getting the dlc the Rakuyo is a great choice but it’s tough to actually get it.

I’ve never used the Reiterpallasch before but if you are thinking about a skill/blood tinge build then the Chikage is hard to compete with. With a high enough blood tinge stat it does ridiculous damage. Not to mention being able to use the Evelyn and bone marrow ash for big damage too.

And yeah you can use the Cane for the whole game, just keep upgrading it and it shouldn’t be a problem. Every weapon is viable.

Cane is ass. Don’t like that weapon.

Rakuyo over BOM for pure skill builds because of the versatility imo.
As for Cane… I thought it was OK at first , but then i dropped it completely when i realized how little reach it had
when not in trickmode. Charged R2 wouldn’t hit a enemy 1 feet away, I am SRS !!!
Even in trickmode aka chain-whip-mode the attacks were a lil’ tad bit too slow for my liking. But maybe this could be considered
a strength too since i remember that it was really difficult to avoid/dodging the chain whipzz in PVP.

I’m not a fan either. Not even that into skill builds in general.

Moonlight and Ludwigs holy blade the whole way with a side of tonitrus. :> Also as soon as I got Rakuyo it was permanently added to the rotation . Too many good weapons. Cane is ass tho. I hate not having the opportunity to stun a monster lol

The late Powder Kegs, bless their souls, had a motto: “If a weapon ain’t got kick, it just ain’t worth it.’”

bless their soulds indeed cuz they knew wtf they were talkin’ about :sunglasses:

I think the Saif is the best skill weapon imo, the damage output and attack speed is fucking tits.

Well, I’ve restarted the game with the intent of going for the weapons I outlined earlier: Evelyn and Hunter’s Torch in my left hand, Threaded Cane and Reiterpallasch in my right. What would y’all recommend as far as stat builds for that? There’s a hard cap at fifty, isn’t there?

Do what you see fit. If it’s wrong, it’s wrong. That’s part of the journey isn’t it?

People should really take a look at their weapons more often, all the information you need in terms of where to place stat growth is right there. It literally tells you what stats benefit what weapons in the game. This is disregarding the fact that most of your damage output increases are gonna come from upgrading the weapon itself.

From that point on, I can give you all the advice in the world, but it really just boils down to a matter of preference and what you wanna do with your character.

What I was looking for was any sort of advice one can offer vis-a-vis how much I should be putting into vitality or endurance. I know that if I want to use skill weapons, I should put points into skill. I’m also not sure whether I should stop at a certain level, as was the case in Dark Souls, but I suppose it doesn’t really matter one way or the other, does it?

You know what, you’re absolutely right. Fuck it. I’m going to go into it blind.

This page has the diminishing return level for each stat. The huge one is that overall DEF stops increasing very quickly, so power leveling if you can’t beat a boss won’t be helpful if you are still getting hit.

Yeah, every stat has a different hard/soft cap. END hard caps at 40 like it does in Dark Souls one, i.e.

A good rule of thumb? When you look at your stat increases and the increase isn’t enough to warrant spending blood echoes on it, stop putting points into it.

With my last character (blood tinge build) I only took endurance to 20 and it worked out pretty well. You can make up for it with runes later on too.

Ultimately you can spend points however you want if you do not plan on capping your level for PVP. Just use some logic for the stats capping as you level up your build.

For weapons, you can pretty much use whatever you want in regards to PvE. It really comes down to what you like best. Yeah there are better weapons for certain enemies/bosses, but you can get through the game just fine using whatever weapon you want, even ones that might be deemed on the weaker side.

Finally platted this game. Now onto the DLC. I’ve been using the Steak Driver (that charged R2) and it was surprisingly more powerful than most other weapons I’ve tried.

Stake Driver charge R2 IS the single strongest attack in the game IIRC, but it also always fully drains stamina and has the huge charge time. Chikage trick mode charged R2->R2 is pretty competitive but then that drains HP. I haven’t used it much but I imagine the Whirligig Saw from the DLC is also competitive in that aspect simply because it’s a pure S scaling strength weapon.

All three of those work best with different builds though so if you’re already doing like 40/40 for STR/SKL or something then yeah i don’t think anything will be stronger per single attack

I guess I’ll have to try that then since I’m balanced in STR and SKL. Got no points in BT or ARC and I’m like lvl 150 so those roads are a no go at this point.

Is it ever worth using a stat scaling Gem over a straight damage percentage gem?
