Bloodborne thread

Apparently a new update is going up that will make blood rocks available for 60 insight. Pricey but at least you won’t have to play the entire game over again to obtain one. Bloodstone chunks will only be 20 insight now too.

Finally got around to making a Bloodtinge build. Not that I doubted anyone, but holy fuck it seems hella broken. Evelyn with Bone Marrow Ash is just stupid.

EDIT:

Just a quick thought on the difficulty. DeS was my first Souls game and I found it much easier than DS. Magic is hella broken in that game and if you realize this early it’s pretty much smooth sailing.

And no matter what order you play, I still think DS2 is by far the easiest. The best analogy I heard was that finding bonfires in DS was like finding a pond in the middle of the desert after hours of hiking while dehydrating. Bonfires in DS2 were like finding a 711 every hour while driving around on a hot summer day.

I think Dark Souls is definitely harder than Bloodborne and Bloodborne was my first.

And cringe at calling Bloodborne single player or PvE as “campaign”.

I hate when FPS terms are used for other areas such as “campaign” is used instead of story mode.

I remember playing street fighter on xbox and the kids would be “select a different map!” instead of “stage.”

Enh! Whatever gets the message across. I think the word actually works for this

And this is coming from someone who actually doesn’t play FPS games at all, because I’m prone to motion sickness (well, “simulation sickness” if you wanna be picky about terms).

Maps, boards, stages, levels. They are all beautiful in their own way, and I’ll collect my 1-ups/one-mans/extra lives/extra credits just as happily in one as the other.

Back to the actual topic: It also helps a lot of people that Bloodborne can be played a lot like a regular action game, while the Souls series actively punishes people for that.

FUCK YES DEFILED AMYGDALA IS DOWN!

Fuck that fucking artificially difficult bitch.

Fuck, now I have to farm Red Jelly to get into the last CD.

Hahaha wow you really can buy a blood rock in the insight shop for 60 insight now.

Yeah it was posted on the Fromsoft Twitter account. I should have put the link in my original post.

Killed every boss on my first try so far except for the poison dog(poison destroyed me the first time I fought him) and Father Gas. I’m at Byrgenwerth now.

Witch Boss and Shadow of Yharnam seemed scary at first but they turned out to be easy fights. Shadow of Yharnam freaked me out though, once I got one of them to 20% or so they all transformed. Their range almost got me a few times too, wasn’t expecting that.

I picked up the Ludwig Von sword and upgraded it to +5 or so, my Saw Cleaver is the same level I think, whichever is the one where you start to need Blood Chunks to upgrade them. It’s fun to use but I’m not sure if I like it more compared to the Saw Cleaver. I like the dual-wield Souls-style Greatsword moveset though, that aspect I like more than the Cleaver.

What are some awesome weapons to look out for?

Ludwigs is my personal favorite weapon. Depends on your build though.

Depends on your build. Ludwig Sword is fine for a strength build, but I got much more out of it on my arcane build and a fire gem equipped. Saw Cleaver is actually a solid choice despite it being a starting weapon. Hunter Axe is also good, great crowd control and knock down capabilities.

I would suggest trying out as many weapons as you can and do a second run making a build around what you want to use next time.

The DLC weapons are really cool to. The Holy Sword of Moonlights un-transformed moveset is the Dark Souls 1 Claymore moveset. Squee

The Transformed modes moveset is fucking sick to tho.

I’m also really liking the Beasthunters Saif right now, and the Chikage and Blade of Mercy are really fun to.

I agree with NAP tho Ludwigs one of the best in the game, really fun weapon. Ludwigs also a good starting weapon for using when you plan to get the Holy Sword of Moonlight because they both scale well with Str and and Arc. Smooth transition.

They balanced the weapons well for different builds throughout the DLC. There’s a little something for everyone, even a more conventional “spell” for Bloodtinge users (the worm summon).

I’m actually sorta regretting going for Str/Arc rather than Str/BT, because the Str/BT combo has a LOT of fun weapons in there.

Still, once I’d started putting in the Arc points, the weapons for the Str/Arc combo are a lot of fun. Amygdalan Arm and Whirligig Saw complement one another well, as long as you keep a Beast Roar on hand for those “get off me” moments.

Right now I’m pumping points into Strength/Skill until I hit the “softcap” then from there I’m not sure if I want to dump points into Arcane or something else. Both the Cleaver and Ludwig’s scale with Arcane, so I’m probably going to go that route. Are there any sword/curved sword style weapons I should keep an eye out for? I don’t have the DLC. I’ll eventually get it though, once I Platinum the base game(which, imo, BB seems to have the easiest and least time consuming Platinum of all Souls games.)

Rom was really easy, the Dark Souls II spider(especially in the re-release) was way more annoying to fight than him. I died my first time fighting Rom though, got hit by a really bad string of attacks when I was attacking his side into death.

I can’t teleport to the “Grand Cathedral” so I’m hoping that one NPC is there. I wasn’t able to finish her storyline so I’m hoping I can at least still get her weapon on this playthrough without having to get it in NG+

Is it possible to farm Blood Chunks or should I be careful about using them? What are the better armor sets? I’m around 1/2 way through the game and I’m still using the Hunter set with a piece or two of the Charred set.

You can get Chunks off the Gargoyles in Cainhurst Castle (really rare drop) the blue eye’d werewolves in Upper Cathedral Ward, and i think the vicsera dogs in Yar’Harghul drop them as well.

Nice. Going to see if that NPC is at the Grand Cathedral, then from there I’m going to the area right after Rom(which is Yar’Harghul?)

How far am I into the game btw? Around 50-60% through?

After rom you’re pretty much in the end game.

DLC is dope as fuck so far, haven’t gotten that far in. I have to say I love the unforgiving intensity of seeing nothing but other hunters so far. Fighting them with the Blades of Mercy has gotten me into some godlike scraps.

I’ve only found one weapon, can’t remember what it’s called but the first few hunters you see are using it and it resembles an axe that shifts into a whip. Shit is fucking boss.

I think I managed to “skip” a boss fight:

Spoiler

That fiery Cleric Beast in the Grand Cathedral looked pretty scary, I managed to walk up to him and take the item he’s holding with waking him up. Took a left out the Cathedral and got ass raped by 5 separate gatling guns aimed down a narrow path towards me. After that I had to get off for the night. managed to play with @crotchpuncha for a few minutes but we were having trouble connecting for whatever reason.

This DLC is brutal as hell already, and I love it.

Yeah, you’re about 60% of the way through the main questline. This is of course excluding optional areas like the Nightmare Frontier.

Without revealing too much: No you didn’t.

But yea, I nearly shat a brick at that part.

So close to my platinum. Got some Red Jelly and cleared the first layer of the Great Ihyll CD. Two more floors and I’m done with this game for a long time.
