No. These graphics are definitely last gen material, with a bunch of last gen stuff looking much better.
Also now that I’ve played a little…this game is a direct ripoff of Souls. That might be a good thing for the Souls circle jerkers here, but not me. Not only because I dont care for Souls, but HOW can there be any acclaim for such a blatant rip off. Messages, seeing ghosts of what others did, the whole disembodiment thing. They did nothing, this was like Capcom making SFxT and reusing all those SF4 assets. Except this is worse because it’s not the same series or publisher.
Another note is that on the character creation screen, the game that came to mind with the graphics and character models last night was Tenchu Z. Then I find out this is also a From game. I did not know until I looked it up 5 minutes ago. Also strange, because I remember Dark Souls looking better than this game.
No, I’ve just learned trying to talk to you about stuff is kind of a waste of time. Somehow you took “Animating mouth flaps isn’t really that important in the long run” and some how ran with it into me saying fuck all animations, lets have everyone talk through windows when I never said that. Why waste my time trying to give you a real response when your just going to blow it out of proportion and be a dick about it?
Giving you a shit post response to your shit post seems like a better use of my time then trying to continue taking the conversation somewhat seriously.
But what the hell, I just got home from work and have nothing better to do so here we go. A real response.
I really wouldn’t care, I am hardly ever looking at the ground. I tend to be more focused on something actually important to the game itself like beating an enemy i am fighting or solving a puzzle or navigating an environment. Shadows where useful in platformers for figuring out where you where going to land, them being black blobs, or wonderfully rendered depictions of a real shadow REALLY doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things.
I’d be fine with them animating the mouths or making amazing shadows, that would be great, but in the long run I don’t really care that much. I care that the game is fun to play, which Souls games have been so far, whether the mouths move or not. If this where a Metal Gear Solid game or something of the like where there is SHITLOADS of talking then it would be a different matter but it’s not. You talk to characters for like 30 seconds then move on and don’t see another person to talk to for hours and when you do, it’s another 30 second chat. Mouth flaps for the speech in these games is so not important. I’d rather they spend time animating shit that matters like the fucking awesome Burial Blade transformation then animate Alfred’s mouth.
Some of you guys really overestimate how much others on this site give a flying fuck about graphics. One of the best games on the PS2 imo is God Hand and it’s fucking ugly as shit, but I don’t care because it’s amazingly fun to play. Same thing here. The graphics in Bloodborne are great, and things like mouths moving in a game with so little dialogue is something I just don’t give a shit about because it has 0 impact on the game as a whole. The combats still fucking awesome, the locations are still fucking awesome, and the lines delivered by the characters still work out really well despite the mouths not moving. I don’t think the mouths moving would add anything to the product aside from pleasing a few people who seem to have a problem with it for some reason.
can i just take a quick moment here to tell the graphics obsessed to fuck the hell on off? for too long game play budgets have taken a back seat to the flashy and shiny of graphics. If a studio has a choice for allocating budget to more playtesting and design changes or making mouths move while npc’s are talking… i want the play testing (not that devs actually do that anymore…)
You do realize Bloodblorne is from the same team that did Demon Souls and Dark souls 1 right? Even the same company, From Software. Only difference is Sony foot the publishing bill like with Demon Souls instead of Bandai.
Because everyone knew it was going to be a faster more aggressive Souls game when they announced it. They didn’t try to hide it, they advertized it as being such, everyone (but you apparently, who doesn’t do any research at all into shit they spend money on?) knew exactly what they where getting with this game, that’s a lot of the reason they wanted it.
It is the same series. It’s a Souls game, but with the Souls swapped out for Blood because the theme is different.
Also your memory seems to be fucking shit because graphically this game is a lot prettier then Dark Souls was. Pushing much higher poly counts, better particle effects by a mile and way way better cloth implementation as a few examples. After saying this, and your comment in another thread about the models looking like Oblivion, I’m prettysure at this point that you need glasses or some other kind of corrective eye wear because you seem to be blind.
Sorry crotch didn’t read your txt cause I was too busy laughing at facemeandrealizeiamretarded ol stoooooooopid ass lol. I will remember to click insightful on that post later though.
Drunk with blood after visiting the Hunter’s Nightmare
Well Old Hunters DLC…You really got me! clap clap clap
You have destroyed my Level 78, second playthrough character “JKP”.
His strength and cannon build and his hunter’s axe/saw spear combo were no match for the hunter’s nightmare.
“JKP” managed to make it to the first DLC boss by running past a lot of enemies before being vanquished multiple times and being utterly destroyed into a pile of bones.
Congratulations Hunter’s Nightmare, you got me good!
I didn’t think I would have to do this…but you’ve forced me into a corner, and desperate times calls for desperate measures.
I must play my ace in the hole…
**Enter “Evilj” ! **
Level 109 New Game Plus character
Level 10 Threaded Cane and Level 9 Ludwig Blade.
My original weapons of choice…
The weapons that slayed Ebrietas, Gherman…
The ones that helped me beat my first ever souls games.
I am at one with these weapons…I am one with the blood.
Not sure spoiler tags are necessary but just in case…
[details=Spoiler]The one where you turn into a slug/great one/moon child/ etc. My brother gave me his take on it, so I sort of understand it now. (He’s beaten the game several times and saw all the endings and secret stuff)

I liked the story in dark souls 2. It was vague, but it didn’t feel like it was as hard to piece everything together. The thing with the giants and the king was pretty easy to figure out, and you could learn a characters backstory just by exhausting their dialog actions and finding their armor.
I play Souls for story…Not just story, but the narrative does matter to me.
Anyway Bloodborne isn’t supposed to be fully understood. One of the themes of the game is interaction with that which can not be comprehended, be it monsters, aliens, or even just the events and places you explore. Hell who knows how much of it is actually real and how much is a dream, and if the dream itself is a reality unto itself or not. For example…Just what the fuck happened in Yarharghul? We’ll never fucking know. We can posit theories and ideas of what might have happened…but really it’s probably beyond anyone’s understanding and will never truly be known.
And frankly who wants to know what the fuck causes that kind of shit to happen? Nightmare indeed. So don’t worry about not understand, tho do try to figure it out. It’s half the fun, and half the game imo.
