Bloodborne thread

I have various characters at various points in the game. A little bummed out that it MAY be time sensitive, but no biggie.

recently started a STR/ARC build for logarius wheel and probably new fire hammer if it turns out to be fun

Just started rolling a new Skill/Bloodtinge build in anticipation of the new DLC

You can access the DLC at any point of the game so long as you reached a certain point of the game. So even if you’re at Gehrman, you can still access the DLC.

I’m three trophies away from a platinum in BB. Just need to get the beast claws, kill Queen Yarnham and get a precious blood gem. How many hours of Chalice Dungeons do I have to look forward to?

i would have gotten a platinum trophy long ago , but i just can’t be arshed with chalice dungeon.

#fackingboring

A lot. And some tough ass bosses in the later ones.

Ugh. Well maybe I’ll just slowly chip away at it and finally start MGS5. I kind of dont really understand the chalice dungeons to be honest. I haven’t fucked with them at all.

They are just unique maps with some unique monsters and unique bosses. You can get some nice drops from them (Chunks and Rocks in later ones) weapons with alt gem slots in them, and you need materials to do te ritual associated with the chalice and type of dungeon you are wanting to make.

man I think I am FINALLY starting to get the character creator. I finally have two pretty damn good looking female characters, and they look pretty different from each other too

When progressing through harder Chalices, I noticed one layer would take about 60-90 minutes to complete, depending on difficulty and complexity of the layer. Some bosses are pretty challenging (FUCK HEADLESS BLOODLETTING BEAST) and will cause you issues. Overall, expect a lot of time put into Chalice dungeons to get that Yharnam trophy. Chalice Dungeons are also pretty much mandatory if you want to min-max for PvP since all the best gems drop in the harder dungeons.

The Cursed dungeon where they cut your HP in half was the only one I didn’t like, to me that’s the definition of artificial difficulty. Something like Demon’s Souls you are introduced to this mechanic at the start of the game, and there are several ways to cope with it if you really have to. In Bloodborne it felt tacked on so fucking late in the game and for no reason. I seriously thought the next dungeon was gonna reduce my weapons back to their starting state or some nonsense. Aside from that though I quite enjoyed them, especially the later ones with the giant bridges linking in and out of caves. Looting those treasure/mausoleum rooms with the multiple chests was also quite satisfying.

The good news is I’m high enough level that I’m killing the early chalice bosses in 2-5 hits. The bad news is that I think this shit is pretty boring so far.

Yeah, that’s how they go. Boring stags and bosses to boring stages and ridiculous bosses.

Yeah the early Chalice Dungeons are designed for you to do them as you get them (i.e. after Blood Starved Beast), but since the main game is so awesome, you always end up doing them at the end of the main game. End result is that the first several are super boring because they pose no challenge. They get better when they get harder, but the level designs are still super boring/bland overall.

Chalice dungeons only get fun when you start doing root dungeons, but it’s not worth doing those until depth 5, so yeah =/

That said, I still like them overall, they just have a lot of wonky details…

I’m hoping the DLC improves chalice dungeons in some way. Haven’t heard anything though.

IIRC FromSoft said the DLC does not affect the Chalice Dungeons in any way.

Yeah, they also said however that they are planning a patch afterward that will address the CDs, but they were vague. It seems like they want to make them more accessible in general, but what that actually means is still unknown.

I hope, at the very least, that it means less mats to create a Chalice Dungeon. There is far too much grinding for in Chalice Dungeons.

You don’t need to grind mats for CDs AT ALL unless you don’t have any internet connection ever. I don’t even have internet at my house but I can still get on sometimes. Just by DLing other peoples dungeons to pick up stuff you’ll end up having more than enough materials in my experience.

If you do it completely offline, then yeah, shit sucks.

I just wish they either made all Chalices available and let us buy high level materials so we could skip the lower ones if we want, or some other equivalent thing
